Tom Freston Has Left The Building

After 25 years of building MTV into a brand name as recognizable as Coca-Cola, Tom Freston has resigned as CEO of Viacom.

Upon leaving MTV, Freston was ambushed by hundreds of his former employees in Viacom's New York headquarters. With cheers, backslaps, bear hugs and tears, MTV sent their former leader off with a rousing tribute nearly unheard of in corporate America.

"The energy of the moment was unbelievable," said another MTV staffer after witnessing the event. "People were weeping, screaming. I've never experienced anything like that at the workplace."

Indeed. We'll miss you, Tom.
