Bearing Witness examines the personal and professional lives of five female journalists as they attempt to put a human face on the otherwise impersonal tragedies of war.
Images and words have the power to shape public conscience; journalists bear witness to the weight of history, reminding us that the world extends beyond our backyards. But at what cost to themselves? Bearing Witness tells the stories of five intrepid reporters who take substantial personal risks as they cover the world's hot spots. These women provide a unique view of life inside Iraq told from a first hand perspective that doesn't often make it to our televisions. Their stories will take the audience on an important journey into the intense, personal, dramatic and compelling stories that too often go unnoticed. We will experience the risks taken and the personal toll the field takes on the reporters willing to brave the world's war zones.
Bearing Witness will air on A&E Thursday, May 26 at 9pm/8pm C.
