Bellator MMA gave the Chicagoland faithful an early candidate for fight of the year in the main event. First, Adam McDonough came back from early trouble to win a battle of positioning against Jesse Juarez. Sam Oropeza’s right found Cristiano Souza’s chin to end that bout early. Andrey Koreshkov landed a high kick that was the beginning of the end for Nah-Shon Burrel’s night, and Nathan Coy was able to use his boxing to handle the challenge of Paul Bradley. The night closed out with an instant classic rematch for the Featherweight World Title, Pat Curran regaining the title with 14 seconds left on the clock.
Pat Curran and Daniel Straus fought tenaciously for nearly five full rounds, but it was Curran who cinched in the choke to get the submission with 14 seconds left in the fight and regain the Featherweight World Championship. Catch the Bellator 112 Moment.
Bellator MMA's Season 10 heavyweight tournament got underway with Alexander Volkov making short work of Mark Holata. Mighty Mo got the better of Peter Graham in a clash of kickboxing veterans. Lavar Johnson rode out an early mauling to take the win from Ryan Martinez, and Blagoi Ivanov outpointed Rich Hale. In the main event of the evening, Eduardo "Dudu" Dantas made a remarkable transition to take Anthony Leone out with a rear naked choke.
Bellator MMA Season 10 got off to an auspicious start as the featherweight tournament kicked off with Scott Cleve falling prey to Daniel Weichel's rear naked choke. Will Martinez made a statement at 145 by handling highly-touted prospect Goiti Yamauchi. A closely contested three-rounder saw Des Green upend Mike Richman, and Matt Bessette and Diego Nunes went all out, with Bessette taking the split decision.
