We kick-off Black History Month 2008 by reviewing some of the work of Dr. Arlie O. Petters, Professor of Mathematics and Physics at Duke University (USA). This is part 1b of the three-part series interpreting the 2006 co-authored (Charles R. Keeton & Arlie O. Petters) paper trilogy "Formalism for Testing Theories of Gravity Using Lensing by Compact Objects I: Static, Spherically Symmetric Case".
