China: Three Gorges Dam

At more than five times the size of the Hoover Dam, the Three Gorges Dam will be the largest hydroelectric dam in the world. 26 massive turbines will power a city four times the size of Los Angeles. The dam's 5- step system of locks will raise and lower ships as much as 371 feet.
