Josh is pleased with his work on the easy human canvases that he picked and the judges start to weigh in on the tattoos the artists created on the scarred human canvases.

[indistinct chatter]

- LET ME TAKE A LOOK AT THATSCAR BEFORE I START DRAWING.

- IN THE FLASH CHALLENGETHIS WEEK,

ALL THE CANVASES HAVE SCARSTHAT THEY WANT COVERED.

- IT WAS A CAR ACCIDENTTHAT CAUSED THIS.

- I HAD TO GET OPERATEDWHEN I WAS 18,

AND THEY HADSOME COMPLICATION.

- VALUE IS A GOOD TESTFOR THIS,

BECAUSE IF YOU CAN ADD

A LOT OF DIFFERENT VALUESTO YOUR TATTOO,

USING YOUR DARK TONESAND LIGHT TONES,

THAT WILL HELP STEER THE EYEAWAY OF WHERE A SCAR IS.

- I THINK THAT MAYBETHE BEST BET WOULD BE

TO KIND OF SNEAK THATRIGHT UP AGAINST THAT.

WE DECIDED TO GO WITH

A REALLY BEAUTIFULPINK FLOWER,

IN ORDER TO SHOWREALLY SMOOTH VALUES.

THE FLOWER HASREALLY GREAT BLACKS IN IT

THAT TRANSITION PERFECTLYINTO REDS,

INTO THE PINKS,INTO THE LIGHT PINK,

ALL THE WAY INTO SKIN.

- [whistles]YO.

[chuckles]

JOSHUA'S TATTOOIS A BULL[bleep] TATTOO,

JUST BECAUSE IT'S SAFE.

HE'S REALLY NOT CREATIVE AT ALL.HE CAN'T DRAW.

HE'S A PHOTOCOPY MACHINE.

- JASON, WHAT'D YOU DO?- SERPENT.

THERE'S A LOT OF PRESSURE WITHTHIS PARTICULAR FLASH CHALLENGE

BECAUSE I NEED TO COME UPTO THE TOP OF THE RANKS HERE.

- I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA DOTHE BIG, GIANT JELLYFISH.

- I GOT A JELLYFISHFOR YA THERE, JIME.

- IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ATEA WHOLE POUND OF 'EM.

- KEEP TALKING [bleep],AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

I NEED TO WIN.

AND THE ONE CANVASI DON'T WANT, I GOT.

- TWO HOURS.TWO HOURS REMAINING.

- IT'S ABOUT AS IMPORTANTAS IT COULD GET

AT THIS POINT,FOR ME TO WIN THIS CHALLENGE,

OR AT LEAST SHOWTHAT I CAN DO TATTOOS WELL.

- SCAR BE GONE.

TATTOOING A KNEECAP IS ONE

OF THE MOST DIFFICULT AREASTO WORK WITH

BECAUSE IT'S A VERY BUMPY,

SENSITIVE,YET ROUGH-SKINNED AREA.

I JUST GOTTA GO INAND ROCK THIS WITH CONFIDENCE.

[rock music]

- FINAL HOUR, EVERYBODY.

ONE HOUR REMAINING.

- HOW YOU DOING, BUDDY?YOU ALL RIGHT?

- THAT'S BIG.LOOKS GOOD THOUGH.

- MY BIGGEST COMPETITIONIN THIS FLASH CHALLENGE

IS DEFINITELY CRAIG.

HE INCORPORATED THE SCARINTO THE ACTUAL TATTOO.

- I HAVE WHAT IT TAKESTO BE INK MASTER

BECAUSE I AM VERSATILE.

I HAVE DEFINITELYNOT SETTLED

ON JUST BEING A GREATNEW SCHOOL TATTOO ARTIST.

- TEN, NINE, EIGHT,

SEVEN, SIX, FIVE,

FOUR, THREE, TWO,

ONE, TIME'S UP.

MACHINES DOWN.

NO MORE INK.

- IT TURNED OUT COOL.

- JOSHUA--HE GOTTHE EASIEST CANVAS.

IT SEEMS LIKEA BIT OF A COP-OUT.

- SO, JACKIE.

- YOU REALLY GETTHAT RICH, DARK VALUE.

A LOT OF GOOD USEOF DARK TO LIGHT SHADING.

AND THE WAY YOU USEDTHE TEXTURE OF HIS SKIN

TO REPRESENT WHERE THE SAND IS,VERY CLEVER.

- ES.

- I THINK YOU DID A GOOD JOBWITH THE SHADING,

WHERE YOU SHOW THE VALUESAND YOU DID

THE GHOST SHADINGINSIDE THE FLAMES,

WHICH REALLY IMPROVESON THIS.

AND AS THIS HEALS,IT'LL SOFTEN UP,

AND IT'LL LOOK A LOT BETTER.

- THANKS.

- CHRIS.

- IN THIS DESIGN,YOU DIDN'T GIVE YOURSELF

A BIG AREATO ACTUALLY EXHIBIT

A REAL BIG EXAMPLE OF VALUE.

BUT IN THE BROWN,IT IS REALLY DARK.

AND IT DOES HAVEA SMOOTH TRANSITION TO LIGHT,

AND THAT'S GOOD.- THANK YOU.

OH, YAY, FINALLY I GET

SOME POSITIVE RESPONSEFROM THESE DUDES.

HOPEFULLY IT'S THE STARTOF A NEW BEGINNING.

- TATU BABY.

- AS FAR AS VALUE GOES,YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD RANGE

OF DARK BLACK UNDERNEATHTHAT CREST OF THE WING,

FADING OUT INTO THE FEATHERS.

A LOT OF GOOD,DIFFERENT COLOR VALUES

THROUGHOUT THIS TATTOO--FROM THE BEAK TO THE HEAD

TO THE NECK TO THE TUFTSAROUND THE SHOULDERS.

- JASON.

- THE VALUE THAT YOU GOTIN THIS, THE DARK TO LIGHTS,

YOU HAVESOME NICE AREAS

WHERE IT'S GONNASOFTEN UP NICELY.

THE SOFT WATER IN THE BOTTOM,THAT'LL BLEND IN NICELY

INTO THAT SCAR TISSUEIN THE CENTER.

- THANK YOU SO MUCH.

- JIME.- I REALLY LIKE THE PLACEMENT.

I LIKE THE WAY THE JAWRIDES THAT SCAR.

OVERALL, THE VALUETHAT YOU GOT OUT OF THAT NOSE--

THE WAYTHAT YOUR FADES GO

FROM WHAT YOUR DARKEST TONEIS TO NOTHING

IS WHAT WE LOOK FORWHEN WE LOOK AT BLACK AND GRAY.

- COOL.

- CRAIG, HOW DID YOU GUYSCOME UP WITH THIS CONCEPT?

- I THOUGHTTHAT IF I COULD SOMEHOW

INCORPORATE THE DOGBITING ME,

IT'D KIND OF SAVE MEA LOT OF EXPLAINING.

- I WOULD NEVER KNOWTHERE'S ANY SCAR TISSUE THERE,

BECAUSE WHAT CRAIG DIDWAS ENHANCE IT.

- THE DOG IS WHERE YOU

DISPLAYED YOUR TALENTSIN THIS CHALLENGE,

USING YOUR LIGHT GRAYSAND DARK GRAYS AND BLACKS

TO REALLY GIVE THISTHE VALUE

AND THE RICHNESS THAT--WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR.

YOU DID A GREAT JOB.- THANK YOU.

- CRAIG IS DEFINITELYPROVING TO BE

A BIG THREATIN THIS COMPETITION.

- JOEY.

- I THINK THE VALUEREALLY CAME THROUGH IN THIS.

THE NOSE WORKSWITH THE SCARRING ITSELF,

SO IT TAKES THE EYESOFF THE SCAR.

- WHAT'S UP, KYLE?

- AS FAR AS THE USEOF VALUE GOES,

YOU REALLY GOT SOMESMOOTH TRANSITIONS OF COLOR.

- I LIKE THE WAY YOU USEDTHE HOT AND COLD

TO REALLY OFFSETTHE COLOR PALETTE.

IT LOOKS GOOD.- MADE RICH.

- THE WINGS AREA LITTLE BIT DARKER.

I KNOW THEY ARE GONNALIGHTEN SOME

BECAUSE YOU HAVESOME GRAY IN THERE.

- I THINK YOU COULD'VE SHOWED

A LITTLE MORE TRANSITION THERE.

- JOSHUA, WHY DID YOU SELECTTHIS CANVAS?

- SHE HADA PRETTY SIMPLE SCAR,

AND I NEEDED A DAY

WHERE I COULD FEEL RELAXEDAND STRESS-FREE.

- [scoffs]

- YOU HAD THE EASY RIDE,BUT YOU MADE THE MOST OUT OF IT.

- AMAZING VALUEOF REPRESENTATION IN THERE,

WITH HOW RICH THIS THINGIS IN THE DARK PARTS

AND HOW SOFT THIS THING ISIN THE LIGHT PARTS.

PERFECT.
