Butterfly

This clip from a 1972 film directed by Andrei Khrajanovsky and scored by Alfred Schnittke is about a boy who catches butterflies and puts them in a glass jar. Once, however, a butterfly grows to such an enormous size that it catches the boy. Having suffered imprisonment, the boy becomes content to recognize the beauty of nature.

This film is 10 min. long and can be watched in its entirety on the Masters Of Russian Animation DVD set - an extraordinary collection of Russia's most important animated short films by Russia's world renowned directors.
