Newmont has long been recognized as a military friendly employer by both the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS). We have been honored to receive both the Freedom Award in 2010, the highest award given to employers by ESGR, and the Al Schneider Award in 2011, the highest honor given by EANGUS. In addition to those awards, Newmont has received Pro Patria awards in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. This recognition led us to the decision to expand Newmont's military hiring program and demonstrate a continued commitment to our country's service members.

In January 2012, Newmont partnered with the Idaho National Guard and was able to successfully hire 35 recently returned service members into critical positions with our Nevada operations. In addition, we have attended homecoming job fairs with the Nevada National Guard and continue to work with those units to add more military veterans to our organization. We will continue to attend these types of events around the country and hope to identify additional areas of our operations for focused military recruitment efforts.

In March 2012, Newmont proudly launched an expansion to the careers section of our website entirely devoted to military hiring (http://www.newmont.com/join-our-team/us-military). This expansion includes links to job openings, a calendar of military specific hiring events, a description of our company's benefits and links to resources intended to aid military members in their civilian job search. We continue to add resources to this site as we grow and improve our program.
