GE values the leadership, loyalty and commitment to excellence instilled through participation in military service. GE observes these qualities every day by hiring employees with a background of service to our country. GE currently employs more than 10,000 U.S. veterans, meaning approximately one in every 13 U.S. employees is a veteran. GE will hire 5,000 veterans over the next five years and partner with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to sponsor 400 jobs fairs for veterans in 2012 as part of the "Hiring our Heroes" initiative. Additionally, GE will offer extra hiring training and services at 50 of those jobs fairs.
