Best Buy, the global leader in consumer electronics, is proud to support our nation's military members, families and community. We actively seek to employ military service members and have a very active Military Employee Business Network (EBN), an internal group who advocates on behalf of the deployed and retired troops and their families through projects and programs that both educate
s and engage s the entire employee population.
Best Buy also supports active and retired troops and their families through several national and local partnerships. Examples include:
· Joining Forces: Best Buy is one of the original partners of the White House's Joining Forces Initiative. Best Buy continues to work on ways to provide technology training to families on military bases so that they can stay connected with their loved ones when deployed. As part of the Best Buy commitment to Joining Forces Geek Squad provided summer technology camps on military base for children of military families to help further their technology skills.
· Serving Our Troops: Best Buy employees worked with Serving Our Troops organization to help families Skype with loved ones overseas by providing 50 laptops and volunteers to facilitate these connections. Best Buy sent human resource professionals overseas to Iraq to help prepare troops with job search tools including resume writing and interview skills.
· Operation Patriotic Endeavor: Best Buy employees, in collaboration with Operation Gratitude, observe Veteran's Day each November by packing holiday care packages for the troops overseas. Best Buy employee volunteers assemble thousands of care packages which are then shipped overseas for distribution to our deployed men and women in time for the holiday season.
In 2011, Best Buy was proclaimed a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Company by the State of Minnesota for demonstrating a public commitment to supporting our military and local communities.
