Key Battles: Sunday, October 3, 1993:.The Rangers mission: capture local warlord Mohammed Aidid and his top Lieutenants. The Rangers dropped in from a strike force of 17 helicopters, followed by a ground convoy. Rangers formed a security parameter while Special Forces operatives assaulted the building. They emerged with 20 prisoners that day, loaded them into the convoy, and returned back to base.
