Patricio Pitbull

Patricio “Pitbull” Freire fought in his native Brazil for years before making his Bellator debut in 2010. After pulling off a vicious heel hook two minutes into his debut, he became a fighter to watch. When he fell short to Joe Warren in the Season 2 Featherweight Tournament, Freire went back to the drawing board and made some adjustments to his game.

The results were evident in 2011, as he entered yet another tournament and made it to the finals after knocking out Bellator veteran Wilson Reis. In his second final in as many years, “Pitbull” secured the tournament championship by defeating Daniel Straus. A broken hand sidelined him from his planned title shot in the summer of 2011. Now healed, Patricio faces featherweight champion Pat Curran in 2012.
