The six-ship whaling fleet has left Japan, and is headed directly to the Southern OceanIn what is officially described as a 'feasibility study' for expanded 'research' whaling, the fleet plans to harpoon 935 minke whales and 10 endangered fin whales, before returning to Japan in March 2007 with boxes of whale meat ready for market.   This year the Japanese fleet will kill already 1,000 whales off the coast of Antarctica, in what the whalers are calling a "feasibility study" for expanded "research" whaling. The International Whaling Commission (IWC) agreed to a moratorium on commercial whaling that came into effect in 1986. In 1987, Japan began its lethal "research" programme, and continues to sell the result of this "research" in shops and restaurants. The new Greenpeace anti-whaling campaign invites all to design the next expedition. Play Video
