  360° view from Katahdin

  

  360° view from Katahdin summit. Rocks at 31 seconds are the tallest natural point. Cairn at 27 seconds is the actual high point. The mountain is 5267 feet high and the cairn is 13 feet, making its top ~exactly one mile in the air, or the only mile-high structure in the state of Maine. :-) Play Video

  Halfway up Katahdin's Rock Face

  

  You get up a huge wall of rock. You've hoped that you'll be done. Then you get the surprise that you're only half way up the Afghanistan-like climb from the treeline to the tablelands. Vertical in places. Hardest ~1.5 miles I've ever "hiked." I'm officially a nouveau bébé rock climber now. :-) Play Video
