New York, NY – October 11, 2012 – Some of Hollywood’s biggest names will turn out to toast their friend for “Eddie Murphy: One Night Only,” the first-ever televised tribute to the comedic superstar.  The celebrity lineup features many of Murphy’s peers and co-stars including: Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Tracy Morgan, Arsenio Hall, Brett Ratner, Charlie Murphy, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Martin Lawrence.   “Eddie Murphy: One Night Only” will tape on Saturday, November 3 at the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles and will air on Wednesday, November 14.

 The exclusive Spike TV event, produced in conjunction with Don Mischer Productions, will include short films, musical performances, sketch comedy and will culminate in an appearance by Murphy.  “There is no better time than the present to honor a man who has for three decades touched the hearts of millions through laughter,” says Murphy’s brother and Executive Producer Vernon Lynch.

“Eddie Murphy: One Night Only” will pay homage to Murphy’s journey from a 15-year-old aspiring comedian, to the record-breaking “Raw,” which remains the highest grossing stand-up film of all time, to his indelible characters and impressions from “Saturday Night Live” including Buckwheat, GumbyMr. Robinson and James Brown. 

The special marks 30 years since the release of the groundbreaking stand-up concert film “Delirious,” and the classic film “48 Hrs.,” which featured the breakout performances that made him one of the biggest superstars in the world.

New York, NY, June 4, 2012 – Samuel L. Jackson will return to Spike TV to host “VGA TEN,” the tenth anniversary of the “Video Game Awards” live on Friday, December 7 at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT.  The acclaimed international film, stage and video game star, most recently featured in the summer blockbuster, “The Avengers,” has hosted the “VGAs” three times from 2005-2007.

The biggest night in the gaming universe will feature world premieres of the most anticipated games of the future and once again simultaneously air LIVE on both Spike TV and Spike.com. “VGA Ten” will also air in over 100 countries and territories around the world.

Spike TV Premieres “Diamond Divers” on Wednesday, June 20

 Unscripted Series Follows Courageous Crew of Divers and Sailors on the Hunt for Elusive Diamonds off the Perilous Coast of South Africa

New York, NY – May 14, 2012 – Billions of dollars worth of diamonds lie undiscovered at the bottom of the ocean, waiting to change the lives of those with enough guts and skill to claim them.  Spike TV’s new unscripted original series, “Diamond Divers,” captures the epic journey of the fearless Captain John and his tough nautical crew as they put everything on the line to battle the treacherous seas of South Africa in search of buried diamonds under the sea.  Six one-hour episodes of “Diamond Divers” premiere starting Wednesday, June 20 at 10PM ET/PT on Spike TV.

“Diamond Divers” chronicles the dangerous expedition of this enterprising maritime crew as they trek halfway around the world, from Washington State to the infamous Skeleton Coast off the dangerous coast of South Africa, an area renowned for shipwrecks and legendary storms, to mine for diamonds.  Meeting them in South Africa are two young, hotshot divers from Houston, TX, who will need to adjust to having to report to Captain John.  They will target what is believed to be the original mouth of the Groen River, a coveted spot thought to have an untouched jackpot of diamonds hidden deep in the trenches of the ocean floor.  The crew is contracted by the international company Panda Marine, a diamond mining and exploration company specializing in marine mining.

Battling 50-foot waves in some of the roughest waters on earth with the ever-looming danger of sharks, poachers and unpredictable weather, the crew will literally risk life and limb with every voyage to find treasure.  Fortunately, the experienced captain and crew are well-equipped for the daunting mission.  Cinematically shot, “Diamond Divers” captures the immense danger the men willingly face, knowing their efforts could mean the difference between going home empty-handed or scoring a million dollar payday, and documents the drama that unfolds along the way.

The crew is led by Captain John, a big-game hunting, Harley-Davidson riding, hardscrabble, financially-ambitious boat captain.  The other crew members include Jason, the captain’s son and able-bodied seaman, whose hot-headed temper is a constant source of tension and infighting with his similarly tempered father; J.R., the master mechanic and ex-Marine who can build anything and serves as the first mate; Marty, the high-energy, mohawked-expert diver who has problems with authority; Sam, Marty’s best friend and fellow expert diver; and Doc, the oldest and wildest member of the group, who will serve as ship medic and cook.

KING MO, BELLATOR AND TNA WRESTLING JOIN FORCES FOR UNPRECEDENTED ALLIANCE ON SPIKE TV

 Former Light Heavyweight Champ to Fight for Bellator in 2013 And Join the Stars of TNA Wrestling This Summer

 New York, NY, May 10, 2012 – In an unprecedented move, one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts, “King Mo” Lawal, has signed a deal to compete in Spike TV’s two major sports properties, Bellator Fighting Championships and TNA’s IMPACT Wrestling. “King Mo” will join the stars of TNA this summer and resume his mixed martial arts career next year when Bellator Fighting Championships moves to Spike TV from its current television home, MTV2.  The deal was jointly announced today by Kevin Kay, President, Spike TV along with Bjorn Rebney, Chairman & CEO, Bellator Fighting Championships and Dixie Carter, President, TNA Entertainment.

“‘King Mo’ is an incredible athlete and a great addition to the Bellator family.  He immediately adds prominence and star-power to our light heavyweight division,” said Rebney.

“‘King Mo’ is the perfect athlete for this type of alliance.  He is the real deal in MMA, and his bold personality and world class wrestling accomplishments are unparalleled.  I’m confident he will have a major impact in both sports,” stated Carter.

Lawal (10-1-1) launched his mixed martial arts career in 2008, and after four straight wins, he faced off against his toughest challenge, renowned fighter Mark Kerr.  “King Mo” knocked out Kerr in the first round, and eight months later he defeated Gegard Mousasi in a Light Heavyweight world title fight.  Lawal also holds an impressive KO victory against multiple Brazilian jiu-jitsu world championship winner Roger Gracie in September 2011.

“This deal is a dream come true for me,” Lawal said. “Bjorn and Dixie have given me the opportunity to engage in my two great loves, mixed martial arts and professional wrestling, at the same time.  And, to have it all on Spike TV is really buttercream icing on a big ol’ cake – not that whipped cream stuff either!”

Lawal rose to grappling acclaim as a NCAA Division I All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State University in 2003 and a three-time U.S. National Champion (2005, 2006, and 2008) in the 84 kilogram division.  In 2007, as a member of the US National team, he brought home a gold medal at the Pan American Games and a silver medal at the World Cup.

A native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Lawal lives in San Jose, Calif. and trains with the prominent American Kickboxing Academy.
