New York, NY, June 10, 2014 –Spike TV has joined forces with Ben Silverman’s Electus to develop a script for an original series, “The Chairman,” based on the best-selling novel by acclaimed author Stephen Frey.

Award-winning producer Ben Silverman (“The Office, “The Tudors,” “Ugly Betty,” “The Biggest Loser”) of Electus, Jeremy Elice of Elice Island, renowned actor Julian McMahon (“Nip/Tuck”), and David Schiff are the Executive Producers for “The Chairman” with Sean Canino of Electus as Co-Executive Producer.  Dana Vachon, “Mergers & Acquisitions” author and Vanity Fair contributor, serves as Executive Producer and Writer. Greg Suess from ROAR will serve as Executive Producer as well.

“When Julian McMahon and Greg Suess brought us this great book series, we knew it could be the basis of a stylized, smart, aggressive, character-driven story in the financial world unlike anything that has previously been on television,” says Silverman. “We’re collectively so thrilled to both be a part of Spike’s emerging scripted brand and make talked-about TV with our fantastic writer, Dana Vachon.”

“The Chairman” is the story of Christian Gillette, a Gulf War veteran who is charismatic, powerful, cool under fire, and tremendously connected. Gillette takes over a billion dollar private equity fund after its founder’s mysterious death. As his new powers open secret doors he realizes that the world of apparently gentrified Manhattan finance is closely tied to the brutal realm of war that still haunts him — and that some of its most dangerous players are now his inherited enemies.

“The Chairman” is a suspense thriller following Christian’s odyssey through worlds of ill-gotten riches in an age of extreme inequality; a tale of money, exile and murder playing out in the blackened heart of the American dream.

Stephen Frey is a New York Times best-selling author.  Since 1995, he’s had 20 novels published with Penguin, Putnam, Random House, Simon & Schuster and Amazon Publishing. His latest work, “Red Cell 7,” the sequel to “Arctic Fire,” was published in January.  Frey’s next novel, “Kodiak Sky,” will be published in November 2014 by Amazon Publishing.  He is represented by the Cynthia Manson Literary Agency and Steve Fisher at APA.

Funnyman Kevin Hart presented international superstar, Rihanna, with the “Most Desirable” award while also being crowned “King of Comedy” by “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” cast, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Jaime King. 

Norman Reedus was named this year’s “Biggest Ass Kicker,” accepting his award from fellow bad ass, “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul. Contesting his title, Reedus admitted he’s nothing like his ass-kicking alter ego and has been known to run from spiders.

Mark Wahlberg was brought onstage by the United States Armed Forces to accept this year’s “Troops Choice” Entertainer of the Year award for his portrayal of former Navy SEAL, Marcus Luttrell, in “Lone Survivor.” Wahlberg humbly thanked the American men and women who so bravely fight for their country and presented Luttrell, himself, with an award on behalf of the troops.

Chris Hardwick proved he deserved his “Smartacus” award by reciting the hundred digits of pi and “Sports Illustrated” cover models Chrissy Teigen, Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge were presented the “Holy Grail of Hot” award by “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington.

MMA legends Randy Couture and Frank Shamrock use their years of expertise in the business of mixed martial arts to help turn struggling gyms into thriving enterprises.  Couture currently owns a successful chain of gyms, Xtreme Couture MMA while Shamrock runs the acclaimed Shamrock MMA.  Together this dynamic duo has the know-how and track record to help take a failing gym on the ropes and turn it into a champion.

From traditional gyms to military-style boot-camps to yoga studios, Couture and Shamrock will do whatever it takes to whip the failing gyms into shape. From re-defining the gym’s identity, to renovating the outdated workout equipment to revising their marketing strategies, no problem is too big for this team of heavyweights. The hosts will also confront the gym owners with their assessment and plan of attack. No detail will go unnoticed as they scour the facility’s procedures from top to bottom. At the end of every episode, the new gym is revealed and it’s determined if the once failing gym has become a winning success.

The series was shot on location in Florida and Colorado.

Scott Marshall Named Season 4 Winner Of “Ink Master” In Live Season Finale

Season 5 Details and Exclusive “Rivals” Match Up Revealed

New York, NY, May 20, 2014 – In a live finale that was both fierce and thrilling, Scott Marshall was named winner of Season 4 of “Ink Master.”  Marshall wins a cash prize of $100,000, a feature article in the premiere tattoo publication Inked and the ultimate bragging rights title of ‘Ink Master.’ In addition, Season 3 rivals Joshua Hibbard and Jason Clay Dunn returned to the “Ink Master” stage to announce that they will be competing on Season 5 of the series.

Seventeen of the top tattoo artists from around the country battled it out all season in permanent ink, competing in various tattoo challenges that not only tested the artists’ technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity where they had to create and execute an original tattoo on a ‘human canvas.’ Each week’s challenges focused on a different tattoo technique and style.   After every challenge the contestants faced a tough panel made up series host Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and judges, renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).  The masterpieces these artists created will last forever, but so will their mistakes.

The final three contestants: Walter ‘Sausage’ Frank, tattoo artist at Club Tattoo in Las Vegas, NV, Matti Hixson, a self-employed tattoo artist from West Virginia, VA and Scott Marshall, tattoo artist at Roselle Tattoo Co. in Roselle, IL were each assigned their own master canvas.   They were sent back to their home bases to complete a 35-hour tattoo, where they had five, seven-hour sessions with their master canvas to create the best tattoo design of their career.

In the finale Frank, Hixson and Marshall revealed their master canvases to the judges and America.   After the judges reviewed the artwork, Matti Hixson was eliminated from the competition.  In the end it came down to Walter ‘Sausage’ Frank and Scott Marshall with the judges in a close call, ultimately naming Marshall the season 4 winner of “Ink Master.”

During the show, one lucky fan was given the opportunity to get inked by Season 3 winner, Joey “Hollywood” Hamilton.  Using #TATTbyJOEY this season, fans were able to tweet their out-of-the-box tattoo ideas which resulted in Irmak Ayverdi of Bronx, NY getting a tattoo of a four seasons tree LIVE on air during the finale.

The first details regarding Season 5 of “Ink Master,” slated to debut Tuesday, September 2 were also revealed during the finale. Series host Dave Navarro announced that next season every artist is coming to the competition with a rival including two of the most infamous rivals in “Ink Master” history, season 3 contestants Joshua Hibbard and Jason Clay Dunn.

Leading up to the Season 4 finale of “Ink Master” concludes tonight, the series had averaged 1.9 million viewers, the highest in franchise history.  The weekly tattoo-competition series has improved the timeslot in the gender-balanced demographics of Adults 18-49 by a staggering 161% and Adults 18-34 by 215%.

Miami Expansion Builds Upon “Tattoo Nightmares” Success

New York, NY, May 9, 2014 – Spike TV is franchising its successful “Tattoo Nightmares” series to Miami, where three new tattoo artists are set to tackle the most difficult clients and tattoos America has to offer. The network has ordered 10 half-hour episodes of “Tattoo Nightmares Miami” from series producer 495 Productions.  “Tattoo Nightmares Miami” is slated to go into production this Spring and join the network’s highly-rated Tuesday night tattoo-themed programming block this Fall.

In addition to the jaw-dropping cover-ups that “Tattoo Nightmares” is already well-known for, this new series will have the added twist of taking on some of the craziest requests for original tattoos.   Whether it is tattooing someone’s head, palms of their hands or a major surgery scar, these tattoos are so difficult that the client’s only hope to make them a reality are the artists at Tattoo Nightmares: Miami.

“Tattoo Nightmares Miami” brings together three new artists with diverse backgrounds.  The three started this new shop to service the growing needs of extreme clients where the more bizarre the tattoo and story behind them, the better.  The shop’s artists are Clint Cummings, a former contestant on “Ink Master” season 2; local artist Samuel Suarez, better known to his clients as High Noon and female fine artist and tattooist, Reese Hilburn from Southern California. Together, these three artists will turn tattoo disaster pieces into masterpieces and translate difficult tattoos into stunning works of art.

“Tattoo Nightmares” is among the new crop of Spike original series that deliver a gender-balanced audience. The current season is averaging 1.1 million viewers has improved the time period by +147% in Adults 18-49 and 82% in average audience.   Among all ad-supported cable channels in the Tuesday 10-11:30 PM time period, Spike TV’s tattoo-themed programming block “Ink Master” and “Tattoo Nightmares” ranks in the Top 5 among Adults, Men and Women 18-49 and 18-34.
