Premier Boxing Champions Series to Launch on SPIKE TV on Friday, March 13 at 9:00pm ET/PT

Andre Berto vs. Josesito Lopez and Shawn Porter vs. Roberto Garcia Co-Headline First Event

New York, NY, Jan. 22, 2015 – For the past decade, Spike TV has been a prime destination for combat sports on cable, most recently with Bellator MMA and GLORY kickboxing. Now, Spike is expanding its combat sports roster and is getting into the ring with a monthly primetime boxing series “Premier Boxing Champions.”  The new series will debut Friday, March 13 at 9:00pm ET/PT. 

Spike TV has entered into a multi-year agreement to present the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) series each month for free on Fridays. The network will create compelling monthly shoulder programming for each fight that will help showcase the next generation of boxing stars and energize the sport’s fan base.

The first Premier Boxing Champions series event on Spike will showcase two high-octane matchups, Andre Berto vs. Josesito Lopez and Shawn Porter vs. Roberto Garcia.

“We share the vision of the Premier Boxing Champions series to put the fighters first,” said Kevin Kay, President, Spike TV. “The fighters are the stars, and we will give them a platform to demonstrate why they are among greatest and most exciting athletes in the world.”

Spike’s on-air team will be announced at a later date.  The Executive Producers for PBC on Spike include Jon Slusser, Senior Vice President, Sports and Multiplatform Programming, Scott Fishman, and Kay.

Enclosed is more information on the first PBC series event on Spike.  PBC on Spike TV is created for television by Haymon Boxing Management and will feature top-level fights starring the sport’s biggest names.

Andre Berto vs. Josesito Lopez

Andre Berto of Winter Haven, Fla., is an electrifying welterweight with an outstanding record of 29-3 with 22 knockouts. It doesn’t matter who he is facing, Berto always comes to fight. He has been in several “fight of the year” battles against Victor Ortiz, Robert Guerrero and Luis Collazo.  Josesito Lopez is a battle-tested ring veteran from Riverside, Cal., with a record of 33-6 with 19 knockouts. Lopez blends tenacity with superb boxing skills to give opponents fits in the ring as he did in epic battles against Victor Ortiz, Saul (Canelo) Alvarez and Marcos Maidana. Berto-Lopez shapes up as a no-holds barred ring war.

Shawn Porter vs. Roberto Garcia

Shawn Porter of Akron, Ohio is a perpetual motion machine in the ring, drawing comparisons to the great Aaron Pryor. Heavy-handed with power in both hands, Porter has a record of 24-1-1 with 15 knockouts and that record includes some impressive victories over Devon Alexander and Paulie Malignaggi. Roberto Garcia, a tough veteran from Houston, Texas with a record of 33-3, 22 knockouts, has the kind of ring savvy that comes with experience and superb boxing skills. He has won eight straight matches and will ride that momentum into his fight against Porter, who is coming off the first loss of his professional career. Both Porter and Garcia have something to prove, which always makes for an exciting match.

SPIKE TV AND ACE HARDWARE ANNOUNCE MAJOR PARTNERSHIP FOR THE NETWORK’S INNOVATIVE NEW SERIES, “FRAMEWORK”

New York, NY, December 18, 2014 – Ace Hardware, the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative in the world, will have a prominent role in the upcoming Spike TV new original franchise, “Framework,” the first-ever furniture design competition series.

Hosted by renowned hip-hop artist, actor, and author, Common, and premiering Tuesday, January 6 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT, “Framework” will showcase the nation’s best emerging furniture designers as they compete for a $100,000 cash prize and the opportunity to launch their furniture nationally. Over the course of ten weeks, 13 innovative and inspiring builders will put their artistry and skill to the test in a series of challenges. The competitors will be pushed to the brink of their physical and creative limits with challenges that ask them to reconsider everything they know about designing and building furniture. The builders will use unconventional materials, rethink classic furniture pieces, and incorporate a variety of techniques and disciplines to demonstrate their mastery of furniture creation.

In each episode, a contestant will be eliminated by a panel of judges led by host Common. Throughout his career as an artist, Common has been on the cutting edge of trends and brings his keen eye for style and understanding of consumer desire to the competition. He will be joined by two of the most influential names in the furniture world today; Nolen Niu and Brandon Gore.

Spike to Air Two Holiday-Themed ‘Ink Master’ Episodes

New York, NY, December 17, 2014 – Spike TV’s hit original and the first tattoo reality-competition series “Ink Master” is getting in the festive spirit with two holiday-themed specials, ‘Merry Ink’ and ‘New Year’s Ink.’  Each special brings back well-known “Ink Master” alumni to compete and design holiday-inspired tattoos to win a grand prize of $10,000, which is awarded at the end of the episodes.  Every drop of ink counts, there are no flash challenges on these episodes and after every round, one artist is eliminated from their chance at “Ink Master” redemption.

‘Merry Ink,’ (#MerryInk) airing on Tuesday, December 23 at 10pm ET/PT brings back four contestants who fell just short of winning the ‘Ink Master’ title during their respective seasons.  Though each artist performed phenomenal tattoos, they were told to pack up their equipment and close up shop.  They are all returning with something to prove, that they should have been chosen “Ink Master.”  In a crazy twist, the artists will tattoo the same group of human canvases throughout the competition.  The canvases, who are hoping to get several holiday themed tattoos, face elimination alongside their artists at the end of each round.  The artists competing in this episode are James Vaughn (season one), Tatu Baby (season two and three), Jime Litwalk (season three) and Sausage (season 4).

‘New Year’s Ink,’ (#NewYearsInk) airing on Tuesday, December 30 at 10pm ET/PT sees the return of four contestants who each had extraordinary circumstances that lead to their dramatic eliminations.  These artists are looking to put the past behind and start out fresh with a ‘new year.’  The artists competing in this episode are Al Fliction (season one), Cee Jay Jones (season two), Joshua Hibbard (season three and five) and Gentle Jay (season four).

These two holiday-themed specials are designed to not only test the artists technical skills, but also their interpersonal skills and on-the-spot creativity, where they must create and execute an original tattoo on a ‘Human Canvas.’  After each round, the artists will face a tough panel made up of series host Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and world renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).   The holiday masterpieces or mistakes these artists create will last a lifetime.

Jason Clay Dunn Named Season 5 Winner Of “Ink Master” In Live Season Finale

“INK MASTER” IN LIVE SEASON FINALE

New York, NY, December 16, 2014 – In a live finale that was both fierce and thrilling, Jason Clay Dunn was named winner of Season 5 of “Ink Master.”  Dunn wins a cash prize of $100,000, a feature article in the premiere tattoo publication Inked and the ultimate bragging rights title of ‘Ink Master.’

Eighteen of the top tattoo artists from around the country battled it out all season in permanent ink, competing in various tattoo challenges that not only tested the artists’ technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity where they had to create and execute an original tattoo on a ‘human canvas.’ This season of “Ink Master” was not just about the rivalries you created on the show, as each contestant came into the competition with a personal tattoo rival.  From convention circuit foes, a former boss vs former employee, brothers and even two of the most infamous rivals in “Ink Master” history, this season’s competition was more personal than ever.

Each week’s challenges focused on a different tattoo technique and style.  After every challenge the contestants faced a tough panel made up of series host Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and judges, renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).  The masterpieces these artists created will last forever, but so will their mistakes.

The final three contestants: Jason Clay Dunn, owner and artist at Tattoo Alchemy in Montclair, CA, Cleen Rock One, owner and artist at Chrome Gypsy Tattoo in Las Vegas, NV, and Erik Siuda, owner and artist at Ghost Gallery Tattoo in Bethpage, NY were each assigned their own master canvas.   They were sent back to their home bases to complete a 35-hour back-piece tattoo, where they had five, seven-hour sessions with their master canvas to create the best tattoo design of their career.

In the finale Dunn, One, and Siuda revealed their master canvases to the judges and America.   After the judges reviewed the artwork, Erik Siuda was eliminated from the competition.  In the end it came down to Jason Clay Dunn and Cleen Rock One with the judges in a close call, ultimately naming Dunn the season 5 winner of “Ink Master.”

During the show, one lucky fan was given the opportunity to get inked by last season’s Fan Favorite, Walter “Sausage” Frank.  Frank tattooed a sexy Christmas elf LIVE on air during the finale in honor of ‘Merry Ink’ and ‘New Year’s Ink” specials, airing on Tuesday, December 23 and Tuesday, December 30 at 10pm ET/PT.  “Ink Master” will also return for a sixth season in the summer of 2015.

The New Season Will Travel To Las Vegas and Los Angeles To Track Down

New York, NY, December 3, 2014 – Spike TV has ordered a 10-episode third season of its successful original series, “Catch A Contractor,” starring Adam Carolla and produced by Eyeworks USA.  The announcement was made today by Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV.  The series will be filmed in Los Angeles and, for the first time, will hit the road and travel to Las Vegas to identify and confront fraudulent and unscrupulous contractors in Sin City.

Season three will go into production in early 2015 and debut next summer.  “Catch A Contractor” is averaging 1 million viewers for Season 2 (October 5-November 25).

“We are thrilled to bring Adam, Skip Bedell, Alison Bedell, and the incredibly talented and innovative Eyeworks production team back for another season,” said Levy. “This is great news for our viewers, but bad news for crooked contractors in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.”

“Catch A Contractor” is created and produced by Eyeworks USA (“Extreme Weight Loss,” “Bar Rescue”) with JD Roth, Todd A. Nelson, Brant Pinvidic, DJ Nurre, and Adam Carolla serving as Executive Producers.  Sharon Levy is Spike TV’s Executive Vice President, Original Series, Chris Rantamaki is Senior Vice President of Original Series for Spike TV, and Jeff Savaiano serves as the network’s Executive in Charge of Production.

In “Catch a Contractor,” host and master carpenter Adam Carolla and his team, consisting of no-nonsense, expert contractor Skip Bedell and his wife, private investigator Alison Bedell, are on a mission to track down shady, evasive contractors and drag them back to the scene of their crimes to face the music and fix the disasters they left behind.

New York, NY, November 21, 2014 – The pop culture phenomenon of lip sync battling will now have its very own television show.  Spike TV is partnering with Jimmy Fallon and his Eight Million Plus Productions, John Krasinski (“The Office,” “Promised Land,” “It’s Complicated”) Stephen Merchant (“Hello Ladies,” “Extras,” “The Ricky Gervais Show”) and Matador (“Banksy Does New York”) to create a new, half-hour original series “Lip Sync Battle.” The announcement was made by Jimmy Fallon last night on “The Tonight Show” during his interview with Stephen Merchant.

“Lip Sync Battling is one of the coolest things happening in pop culture right now and already has a huge fan base thanks to the amazing talent involved,” said Casey Patterson, Executive Vice President, Talent Development and Production, Viacom Entertainment Group. “We’re thrilled to be in business with producers as talented as Jimmy, John and Stephen as Spike broadens its programming in new and exciting ways.”

Each “Lip Sync Battle” episode will feature celebrities going head to head – lip synching the song of their choice – battling for the coolest bragging rights on the planet.

Along with serving as executive producers, Fallon, Krasinski, and Merchant will appear and perform on “Lip Sync Battle.”  The series will tape in January in New York City and will premiere Thursday, April 2, 2015.  Show host and list of talent who will be battling to be announced in the coming weeks.

Spike TV’s “Lip Sync Battle” will be executive produced by Jimmy Fallon’s Eight Million Plus Productions, John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant, Rick Schwartz of Eight Million Plus, Jay Peterson of Matador, and Casey Patterson, Executive Vice President, Talent Development and Production, Viacom Entertainment Group. New York, NY, November 5, 2014 – Spike TV is building a new original non-scripted franchise with the first-ever furniture design competition series, “Framework,” hosted by renowned hip-hop artist, actor, and author, Common.  Premiering Tuesday, January 6 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT, “Framework” will showcase the nation’s best emerging furniture designers as they compete for a $100,000 cash prize and the opportunity to launch their furniture nationally.

Over the course of ten weeks, 13 of these innovative and inspiring builders will put their artistry and skill to the test in a series of challenges. The competitors will be pushed to the brink of their physical and creative limits with challenges that ask them to reconsider everything they know about designing and building furniture. The builders will use unconventional materials, rethink classic furniture pieces, and incorporate a variety of techniques and disciplines to demonstrate their mastery of furniture creation. In each episode, a contestant will be eliminated by a panel of judges led by host Common. Throughout his career as an artist, Common has been on the cutting edge of trends and brings his keen eye for style and understanding of consumer desire to the competition.  He will be joined by two of the most influential names in the furniture world today; Nolen Niu and Brandon Gore.

Niu, whose award-winning designs have been featured in over 300 publications worldwide and whose varied client list includes Andaz hotels, MGM Resorts International and Esquire Magazine will speak to the contestants’ designs. Gore, internationally acknowledged as an artisan who has revolutionized the use of concrete in furniture, will critique the builders on their ability to execute their designs. Gore’s furniture line, Hard Goods, has been featured in Dwell, Vogue, Wired and many other design publications and won “Best Furniture Design” at Dwell on Design 2012. As judges, Niu and Gore possess a critical eye for creativity and quality – along with constructive yet brutal honesty.  They will also serve to inspire and counsel the builders in an effort to bring out their best work.

No stranger to outstanding work, Common has inspired audiences through music, movies, television, books and his philanthropy. Common is one of hip-hop’s most poetic and respected lyricists having garnered multiple Grammy Awards throughout his career. His tenth studio album Nobody’s Smiling debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop Chart in July 2014. In addition to his award-winning music career – Common’s work in film (“American Gangster,” “Wanted,” “Terminator Salvation,”), television (acclaimed AMC series “Hell On Wheels”), and his multiple written works (The MIRROR and ME, I Like You But I Love ME, and New York Times Best Seller, One Day It’ll All Make Sense) have proven his status as a true entertainment multi-hyphenate.
