“One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles” (#OneNightOnly) tapes at the storied Apollo Theater in New York City, Rickles’ hometown, on Tuesday, May 6.  The 90-minute special, produced in conjunction with Don Mischer Productions, airs on Spike TV on Wednesday, May 28 at 9:00pm ET/PT.

The New Episodes Will Be Extended From 30 Minutes To One Hour

 

New York, NY, April 16, 2014 – Spike TV has ordered a 10-episode second season of its new original series, “Catch A Contractor,” starring Adam Carolla and produced by Eyeworks USA. The announcement was made today by Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV.  The new episodes will be an hour long, up from season one’s half-hour episodes.

Season two will go into production this summer, and debut in fall 2014.

“Catch A Contractor” debuted Sunday, March 9, and, after seven original telecasts, is averaging 1.2 million viewers. The premiere episode was the most-watched debut of a Spike original series in nearly three years.

“We are thrilled to partner with Adam and his team for another season of a show that, in only a few weeks, has resonated with our growing gender-balanced audience,” said Levy. “Season two is certainly great news for the audience, and even better news for homeowners.”

Spike TV Orders 5th Season of “Auction Hunters”

SPIKE TV ORDERS 20 EPISODES OF “AUCTION HUNTERS,” THE NETWORK’S LONGEST RUNNING ORIGINAL NON-SCRIPTED SERIES

New York, NY, April 11, 2014 –– Spike TV has ordered a new season of 20 episodes of “Auction Hunters,” the network’s longest-running non-scripted original series that has successfully broadened and expanded the channel’s audience.  The fifth season of “Auction Hunters” will go into production this summer and debut this fall.

For the new season, the show’s stars, Allen Haff and Ton Jones, will expand their horizons to more than just storage unit auctions. This dynamic duo will traverse the country in search of the best deals, from cattle auctions to police auctions to, of course, their favorite storage auctions – all in the goal of finding fortune.    

The current season of “Auction Hunters” (January 18-April 5) has averaged 1.5 million viewers and has improved the timeslot on Saturdays at 9pm in the key demographic of Adults 18-34 by 25%.

In each episode, two local restaurants that serve the same type of cuisine (i.e. Mexican, sushi, barbeque, etc.) are pitted against each other as they make every effort to demonstrate to the “Hungry Investors” that their business is willing to make the necessary adjustments to maximize the return on an investment. After the expert team utilizes rigorous “Invest Tests” to get to the core of the operation and the business owners’ abilities, one establishment may earn a substantial investment. John Besh is the executive chef and co-owner of Besh Restaurant Group, based in New Orleans, in addition to his work as an author and philanthropist. His collection of ten highly acclaimed restaurants includes August (twice nominated for the James Beard “Outstanding Restaurant” Award), La Provence, Lüke, Lüke San Antonio, Besh Steak, American Sector, Soda Shop, Domenica, Pizza Domenica and Borgne. He has been recognized with several of the highest honors awarded to a chef, including the James Beard Foundation’s “Who’s Who” in 2014, Food & Wine‘s “Ten Best New Chefs in America” in 1999 and “Best Chef in the Southeast” by the James Beard Foundation in 2006. In 2007, the Sundance Iconoclasts series featured him as a creative visionary whose passion helped transform a culture. Beaumont, Texas native Tiffany Derry began her career in hospitality when she was 15 years old at International House of Pancakes (IHOP). By age 17, she was the youngest person ever to earn a management position in the company. After attending The Art Institute of Houston, Derry worked her way up to executive sous chef at Grotto Cucina Napolitano. Later, she moved to Dallas to become an instructor at the Art Institute of Dallas Culinary School, and also served as executive chef at the acclaimed Go Fish Ocean Club. Derry gained national fame as a contestant on the seventh season of Bravo’s “Top Chef.” Derry’s overall talent and strong demeanor led her far into the competition, and made her a natural choice for “Top Chef All-Stars,” where she made it to the final four.  Most recently Derry was brought on to help Patrick Halbert and Andy Austin build the Private | Social restaurant in Dallas from the ground up.  Derry is also the recipient of The Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU) 2013 Hall of Fame Award.

New York, NY, March 31, 2014 –  On the heels of another strong ratings start for the new season of “Ink Master,” Spike TV has picked up a fifth season of the network’s hit original series. The new season will increase to 16 one-hour episodes and will debut Fall 2014. The announcement was made today by Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV.

Season four (through 5 episodes) of “Ink Master” is once again proving to be ratings driver for the network, delivering 1.72 million viewers, and has improved the timeslot in Adults 18-49 by 81% and Adults 18-34 by 115%.  The series is 49% male, demonstrating the network’s ongoing plan to deliver gender-balanced original hit series.

New York, NY, March 21, 2014Spike TV has greenlit 20 more episodes of the network’s popular original series, “Bar Rescue” starring renowned bar and nightlife expert Jon Taffer.  From the producers of ABC’s “Extreme Weight Loss” and Syfy’s “Opposite Worlds,” the series follows Taffer as he utilizes his nearly three decades of experience in the restaurant, bar and nightclub business to help give failing establishments one last chance to transform themselves into profitable businesses.

New York, NY, March 19, 2014 –  It’s one of the most anticipated films of 2014 and on the next episode of Spike TV’s hit reality-competition series “Ink Master,” mutants and their superpowers will be etched in permanent ink with an entire X-Men-themed episode.  Premiering on Tuesday, March 25 (10:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT), the episode will feature a special guest appearance by Hugh Jackman along with a sneak preview of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

In the episode entitled “X-Men’s Hugh Jackman,” the remaining 13 artists in the competition are tested on their skill of technical precision.  Exact lines, shading and small details can take a tattoo from being just average to a masterpiece.  This skill is especially important when tattooing portraits of people and well-known characters.

Opening with a Flash Challenge, the artists are charged with creating and tattooing an original design of an image that represents a specific superpower their Human Canvas wishes they had.    In the follow up Elimination Challenge, the artists tattoo X-Men superfans with the character of their choice.

Before voting in the final Elimination Tattoo takes place, both the artist and the X-Men superfans are treated to a sneak peek of the new X-Men movie “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” coming out on May 23 from Twentieth Century Fox.

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from the past, “X-Men: First Class,” in order to change a major historical event and fight in an epic battle that could save our future.

New York, NY, February 20, 2014 – Spike TV has joined forces with Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street Productions and Giant Pirates Entertainment to develop a script for an original special-event series based on the best-selling book “The War At The Shore” by Richard D. “Skip” Bronson. The book chronicles the high-stakes battle between Donald Trump and Steve Wynn over the future of one of America’s most popular vacation and gambling meccas, Atlantic City.

Dana Brunetti from Trigger Street Productions is the Executive Producer for “The War At The Shore.” Brunetti, who served as Producer for “The Social Network” and “Captain Phillips,” both nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Picture, is currently producing the highly-anticipated “50 Shades of Grey.”  He is also an Executive Producer on the critically-acclaimed series “House of Cards.”

Troy Searer (“Breaking Bonaduce,” “Obsessed”) and Ross Jacobson (“In A World,” “Big Sur”) from Giant Pirates Entertainment also serve as Executive Producers for “The War At The Shore.”

The script focuses on the epic five-year (1995-2000) battle between two of the most outspoken and dynamic businessmen of our time, Trump and Wynn, who fought a bare-knuckled brawl with billions of dollars on the line and the very future of the seaside resort community at stake.

Bronson, the author of “The War At The Shore,” is a renowned businessman and developer, who was Wynn’s point man in Atlantic City, as they tried to develop a new resort complex there against huge odds.  He reveals the inside story of this titanic rumble and presents a rare look at the world of casino development and the essential modern chapter in the history of America’s “Boardwalk Empire.” The book was published by Overlook Hardcover and distributed by Penguin.

New York, NY, February 12, 2014 – Each year, millions of Americans set out to renovate their property in hopes of finally achieving their dream home.  Sadly, thousands of these unsuspecting homeowners instead become victims, duped and abandoned by the contractors they trusted their savings to and left with either unfinished or danger-laden, uninhabitable homes due to poor craftsmanship.  Host and master carpenter Adam Carolla and his team, consisting of no-nonsense, expert contractor Skip Bedell and his wife, private investigator Alison Bedell, are on a mission to track down these shady, evasive contractors and drag them back to the scene of the crime to face the music and fix the disasters they left behind.  Eleven half-hour episodes of “Catch A Contractor” debut starting Sunday, March 9 at 10PM ET/PT with two back-to-back new episodes on Spike TV.

Home improvement scams have consistently ranked in the Better Business Bureau’s top 10 consumer cons.  Carolla, who spent 10 years working in construction before his successful career in radio and television, takes this issue very personally.  As a passionate master carpenter who has built hundreds of homes including his own, he not only has a keen eye when it comes to identifying shoddy, inferior work, but loathes seeing trusting and naïve average citizens getting scammed by subpar contractors and left holding the proverbial bag.

Each episode follows Carolla, Skip and Alison, as they seek justice for wronged homeowners, whose construction nightmares range from the laughably incompetent to frighteningly hazardous homes that have been left completely torn apart.  Initially, Carolla and Skip assess the property in question and identify all the corners that were cut.  Alison then hunts down these unscrupulous builders through various investigative methods, a task not easily done as most have changed their contact information to avoid being found.  Once the contractor is located, he is artfully lured to a sting house by Alison with the promise of a new job, only to be taken by surprise and confronted by Carolla, Skip and the angry homeowners.  Carolla and Skip call the contractor out on everything that wasn’t done properly, sharing their extensive insight and knowledge of the craft.  The contractors are then given the chance to redeem themselves by fixing the mess they left behind – all while under Carolla and Skip’s watchful and critical eye.  Ultimately, homeowners are able to gain closure, as they not only are able to confront the culprit face-to-face, but are able to finally achieve the end results they paid for.

 New York, NY, January 14, 2014 – Spike TV’s hit original and the first tattoo reality-competition series “Ink Master” returns for a fourth season starting Tuesday, February 25 at 10 pm ET/PT, and this time it’s going to be a street fight.  Tattoo artists from around the country will battle it out in permanent ink and sometimes with each other for a $100,000 grand prize, an editorial feature in Inked and, of course, the bragging rights title of ‘Ink Master.’

Each week “Ink Master” puts artist through a series of tattoo challenges that are not only designed to test the artists’ technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity, where they must create and execute an original tattoo by command on a ‘Human Canvas.’  Each episode focuses on a different and distinct style of tattooing including realism, black and gray, geometric, neo-traditional, Asian and cover-up, among others.   The masterpieces these artists create will last a lifetime, but so will their mistakes.

After every challenge, the contestants face a tough panel made up of series host Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and world renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo) who are joined by a roster of guest judges including CC Sabathia, Rob Zombie and Brandon Rios.

Once again the Human Canvases, who volunteer their bodies to be tattooed by the “Ink Master” contestants, will have a say in who gets sent home.  The Canvases will form their own jury, deliberate as a group and pick one artist per episode who will be up for elimination.  In the jury room, viewers get an inside look at the heated arguments and wicked emotions as the Canvases defend or abandon their new ink and artist.

A new twist for Season Four is that the winner of each week’s Elimination Tattoo challenge will also get to put an artist up for elimination along with the Human Canvas jury and the series judges.

In the season opener the artists put ink-to-skin right from the get-go.  There are seventeen artists standing, but only one — Kyle Dunbar who was voted back to compete in the Season 3 finale — with a guaranteed spot this season.  It’s a cut-throat competition for the remaining 15 spots as artists take part in a “tattoo convention” and “show your artistic style” challenges.
