Scripted Series From TWC-Dimension Television Based On

The 10-Episode Series Goes Into Production
This Summer And Debut in 2017

New York, NY, April 14, 2016 – Spike has greenlit a new original scripted series, “The Mist” from TWC-Dimension Television (TV) based on the classic Stephen King novella. The network has ordered 10 one-hour episodes and will into go production this summer and debut in 2017.  The announcement was made today by Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV.

“The Mist” tells a harrowing story about a seemingly innocuous mist that seeps into a small town and creates immense havoc.

In February, Spike ordered a production pilot for “The Mist.” Upon hearing the series pitch and reading the script, the network has decided to go straight to series.

“From the brilliant mind of Stephen King and the incredible production team at TWC-Dimension TV, ‘The Mist’ will take audiences on a thrilling ride through a small town grappling with a mysterious and shocking horror,” said Levy.

“Christian and the entire team at TWC-Dimension TV have crafted the framework for a compelling and distinctive series that will resonate with Spike’s expanding audience,” said Levy.

“We have been fortunate to produce and distribute two of Stephen King’s films, 1408 and THE MIST, and are pleased to continue that relationship by making THE MIST into a TV series,” said Bob Weinstein, Co-Chariman The Weinstein Company.  “We’ve had an incredible experience developing the series with Christian, Sharon and her team and are eager to make this series a signature show for Spike.”

Christian Torpe serves as the Executive Producer for Spike’s “The Mist.” Torpe created the successful show RITA in Denmark, now finishing its fourth season, and has developed programming for both Showtime and AMC.

Megan Spanjian, EVP of Scripted TV, was instrumental in finding and bringing Torpe to the table and will oversee the project for TWC-Dimension TV along with Matthew Signer, EVP of Production and Creative Affairs, and Keith Levine, SVP of Production and Development. Torpe is repped by ICM and Artists in Residence.

Levy, Ted Gold, Senior Vice President, Scripted Original Series, and Lauren Ruggiero, Senior Director, Scripted Programming will oversee the project.

Spike TV debuted its first scripted event series in eight years, “Tut,” last July to strong ratings and has recently ordered to series, “Red Mars” based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s award-winning “Mars Trilogy.”

TWC-Dimension Television debuted its first scripted series SCREAM, which is an adaptation of the hit horror film franchise, with MTV.  With a successful first season SCREAM TV was picked up for Season 2, which is currently in production and will debut on May 30, 2016.

New York, NY, April 7, 2016 – It’s an interactive talk show meets a build show meets a LIVE comedy show with one of funniest personalities on television, Adam Carolla.

Spike will team up with the producers of “Talking Dead” to launch a new and innovative LIVE series starring Carolla in 2017. “Adam Carolla And Friends Build Stuff Live” will feature the renowned television, radio and internet personality taking on building projects with celebrity friends in need of his carpentry expertise.

Carolla recently served as host of the Spike original series, “Catch a Contractor,” and is a passionate master carpenter. He will showcase those skills along with his comedic commentary and wit each week as he works side-by-side LIVE with a different celebrity.  Carolla will also engage with fans on social media who have their own carpentry questions.

Carolla will also serve as an Executive Producer along with Michael Davies and his Embassy Row Productions.

Spike has ordered 10 one-hour episodes which will debut in 2017. The series will be broadcast LIVE from Los Angeles and will include taped segments illustrating the prep-work that went into that week’s building project.

Carolla currently hosts “The Adam Carolla Show” which is one of the most popular and downloaded podcasts in the world. He has starred in and produced such television series as Comedy Central’s “The Man Show,” “Crank Yankers” and MTV’s “Loveline.”  He has also written directed and starred in feature films, including “The Hammer” and “Road Hard.”  Carolla is also a New York Times best-selling author for his books, having written In 50 Years We’ll All Be ChicksNot Taco Bell Material, and President Me: The America That’s In My Head.

New Season of 16 Episodes Slated for 2017

New York, NY, March 29, 2016 – Spike has greenlit a new season of the highly rated hit original tattoo-competition series, “Ink Master.” Season 9 will consist of 15 one-hour episodes plus a LIVE finale and will debut in 2017. The announcement was made today by Sharon Levy, executive vice president, original series, Spike.

“Ink Master” is currently in its 7th season and is averaging a robust 1.8 million viewers in its Tuesday timeslot. The Spike original series is delivering triple-digit gains this season in the timeslot for Adults 18-49 (+252%) and Adults 18-34 (+286%) and is ranked #2 on cable with Adults 18-49 and #2 with Women 18-49. “Ink Master” is drawing a 55% female audience, demonstrating the network’s ongoing plan to deliver gender-balanced original hit series.

Last fall, Season 6 of “Ink Master” averaged 2.4 million viewers, the highest tally in franchise history.

Season 8 of “Ink Master” will debut this August.

“The Ink Master franchise has been a major driver in Spike’s successful shift to general entertainment,” said Levy. “The continued ratings growth is a result of the creativity and ingenuity of our partners at Original Media and our phenomenal hosting/judging trio of Dave Navarro, Oliver Peck, and Chris Nunez.”

Each week “Ink Master” puts artists through a series of tattoo challenges that not only test the artists’ technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity, as they must create and execute an original tattoo on a “human canvas.” Each episode focuses on a different and distinct style of tattooing such as realism, black and gray, and American traditional. The masterpieces the artists create will last a lifetime – and so will their mistakes. After every challenge, the contestants face a tough panel made up of series host Dave Navarro and world renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).

New York, NY, March 15, 2016 – Spike TV is partnering with entertainment superstar and singing icon Christina Aguilera (“The Voice”) to develop a new, music-based game show, “Tracks.” Produced by Mission Control Media and MX Productions in association with Lionsgate, “Tracks” will debut as a half-hour special on Spike TV later this year.

“Tracks” is an innovative musical game show where a team of two attempts to name a song title just by listening to its individual tracks (e.g. guitar, bass, vocal, etc.).  The series will also feature surprise celebrity musical guests performing tracks – which could be their own – or others.

“Having finely tuned my ear for music over the years, I thought it would be fun to test other folks and see if they can identify a track – with a twist – since contestants will have to focus on a single component of a song,” said Executive Producer Aguilera. “I’m excited to have ‘Tracks’ debuting on Spike TV, and proud to have this as the first project springing from our first-look deal with Lionsgate.”

Aguilera serves as executive producer along with MX Productions founder Matthew Rutler (“Chef Without Boarders,” “MasterClass”), Michael Agbabian and Dwight D. Smith (“Hollywood Game Night,” “Face Off”).   Neal Tabachnick and Michael Aubry are co-executive producers, and developed the series with Mission Control Media.

New York, NY, February 22, 2016 – Spike and Nickelodeon are joining forces with the hit-makers behind “Lip Sync Battle,” Casey Patterson Entertainment and Matador, to develop “Lip Sync Battle Jr.” a spinoff of Spike’s breakthrough original series.

“Lip Sync Battle” is a multiplatform juggernaut that has garnered record ratings for Spike and over half a billion views online.

Spike has ordered a “Lip Sync Battle Jr.” special that will telecast later this year on both Spike and Nickelodeon. In addition, sister Viacom brands are also developing special editions of “Lip Sync Battle” events.

“Lip Sync Battle Jr.” will celebrate kids’ love of music and comedy featuring the battles viewers have come to know and love with new variety elements designed to let the little ones shine.  The series will be a fresh take on Spike’s star-studded series.

New York, NY, February 4, 2016 – Spike is partnering with Howie Mandel’s Alevy Productions to create a fun new game show, “Caraoke Showdown,” hosted and executive produced by television and film star Craig Robinson.

“Caraoke Showdown” will debut as a half-hour special later this year.

The premise of “Caraoke Showdown” features Robinson posing as a driver, picking up unsuspecting contestants who are along for a very unique ride upon realizing they are on a karaoke-inspired game show.  During various rounds of game play, contestants must belt out their favorite tunes, finish the lyrics or act out songs for cash.  Celebrity guest appearances add to the surprise as the contestants never know what’s going to happen next.

Craig Robinson is best known for his role as acerbic Dunder-Mifflin employee Darryl Philbin on NBC’s Emmy-winning “The Office.” He also just recently won the Sundance Actor Award for his standout performance in the Award-winning entry, “Morris From America.” The renowned actor and comedian’s credits include NBC’s “Mr. Robinson,” HBO’s “Eastbound and Down,” and feature films “Pineapple Express,” “Hot Tub Machine,” “Zack and Miri Make A Porno,” “This Is The End,” and “Peeples.”

Mandel will serve as Executive Producer with Mike Marks of Alevy Productions along with Core Media.

Dramatic Series “Pendergast” Based on Best-Selling Novels

New York, NY, February 1, 2016 – Spike has teamed up with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions to develop a scripted dramatic series, “Pendergast.” Award-winning and critically-acclaimed producer Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Entertainment (“The Walking Dead”) serves as Executive Producer, with John McLaughlin (“Black Swan”) set as the writer and Executive Producer.

Based on the bestselling novels “Relic” and “Cabinet of Curiosities” by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, the series centers around Aloysius Pendergast, an eccentric special agent with the FBI. Set in a contemporary version of gothic New York City, the first season finds Pendergast investigating a present day crime mimicking a century old mystery — which links to his own family’s dark past.

“Pendergast” represents the first collaboration between Spike and Paramount Television, both Viacom properties. It’s also the second co-production between Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions with the first being the pilot “Shooter.”

Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Ted Gold, Senior Vice President, Scripted Original Series, and Lauren Ruggiero, Senior Director, Scripted Original Series will oversee the project for Spike.

Spike TV debuted its first scripted event series in eight years, “Tut,” last July to strong ratings and has recently ordered to series, “Red Mars” based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s award-winning “Mars Trilogy.”

“Life or Debt” follows Antonio as he sets out each week to help a different family facing a fiscal calamity, including an outdated wedding DJ following his dreams at the cost of his family’s finances, a talented single mother working eight different jobs around her custody arrangement and a failing small business owner who falls deeper in debt while his wife spends money on plastic surgery and binge shops.  In each episode, Antonio does his initial assessment and reality check, pointing out the significant disparity between money coming in and money going out.  He charges families with the task of taking a hard look at their numbers, before putting them through a series of challenges and driving them to make hard choices. During this time, Antonio gets a better sense of the family, often uncovering the underlying issues and dark secrets of each family’s financial situation to flush out the realities of how they got to this point.  Then comes the restructure, where Antonio lays out an actionable plan, assigning specific responsibilities to each family member that plays to their strengths and reveals the “magic number,” or the number they need to hit each month to reach financial stability.   He returns 90 days later to check in on their progress with the hope they have turned their situation around.
