NEW YORK – May 28, 2015 – Spike TV’s popular original series, “Catch A Contractor,” which follows host and master carpenter Adam Carolla along with expert contractor Skip Bedell and investigator Alison Bedell as they seek justice for wronged homeowners, is back for an explosive new season.  This season not only sets out to aid 10 new families in grim living circumstances, but also gives viewers a never-before-seen glimpse behind the scenes of the tense sting operations and the meticulous coordination needed to nab these deceitful conmen. “Catch A Contractor” premieres its third season on Sunday, June 21 at 10PM ET/PT on Spike TV.    

“Catch A Contractor” aims to finally turn the tables on shady contractors and educate homeowners on the warning signs before it’s too late.  Adam, Skip and Alison seek retribution for duped homeowners, whose construction nightmares range from the absurdly inept, to alarmingly hazardous homes that are accidents waiting to happen.  They hunt down and confront unscrupulous builders, drag them back to their construction disasters, and make them finish the job right.  Carolla and his expert team share their knowledge and ingenuity with the builders – not only in an effort to deliver homeowners the job they paid for, but also to give these suspect contractors the opportunity to redeem themselves.

The premiere episode features a grandmother who is left without a single working toilet and in danger of an electrical fire when she entrusts her savings to her daughter’s friend, who agrees to redo her bathrooms in order to accommodate her 14 grandchildren.  Months later, not only does this grandmother have to drive miles away to use the restroom in a local church, but there is a deep rift in the family due to this shady contractor.

New York, NY, May 27, 2015 – Coming off its most-watched season to date, Spike TV has picked up a seventh season of “Ink Master,” the network’s hit, original tattoo-competition series. Season seven will feature 16 one-hour episodes, slated to debut in spring 2016. In addition, the network has announced a spin-off series, “Ink Master: Redemption,” which offers disgruntled former human canvases of “Ink Master” a chance to receive a new tattoo that leaves them happier than their last. The announcement was made by Chachi Senior, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Spike TV.

The network will launch the newest installment of “Ink Master” – season six – on Tuesday, June 23 at 10pm ET/PT.

In “Ink Master: Redemption,” human canvases from previous “Ink Master” seasons, who left unhappy with their tattoos, return to the shop for a chance at new ink. The spinoff series, featuring six half-hour episodes, will debut in September.

Season 5 of “Ink Master,” which delivered an average 2.2 million viewers, was the show’s highest-rated season among Adults and Women 18-49. In its Tuesday 10-11 PM ET/PT slot, the series ranked in the top five among Persons 18-49, Men 18-49 and Men 18-34, and is currently one of Spike’s most gender-balanced programs. “Ink Master” generated 11.8 million total cross platform video views during the season, and the LIVE finale was ranked #1 on cable based on twitter activity.

“With Americans spending more than $1Billion annually on tattoos, ‘Ink Master’ has definitely hit a chord with viewers and has continued to grow as one of our most gender-balanced original series,” said Senior. “The show’s viewers are not only fans of the amazing artwork displayed, they are also invested in the human canvases and what happens when a client leaves unhappy with their tattoo. We have created ‘Ink Master: Redemption’ to help answer those questions.”

Each week, “Ink Master” puts artists through a series of tattoo challenges that are not only designed to test the artists’ technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity, as they must create and execute an original tattoo by command on a ‘human canvas.’ Each episode focuses on a different and distinct style of tattooing. The masterpieces these artists create will last a lifetime – but so will their mistakes. The series is hosted by Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), and the series judges are world-renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).

New York, NY, April 29, 2015 –Spike released key art today for the Spike original limited series event Tut, with the tagline – “Boy.Rebel.King.” Spike’s Tut recounts the astounding saga of one of history’s most extraordinary rulers, Tutankhamun aka King Tut, his rise to power and his struggle to lead Egypt to glory, while his closest advisors, friends and lovers scheme for their own nefarious interests. This six hour, three night ambitious original scripted limited series event premieres on Spike Sunday – Tuesday, July 19-21 (9:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT).

One of the story’s central plot points is the complex relationship of King Tut, played by Avan Jogia, and his closest advisor, Vizer Ay, played by Academy Award®-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley. Using a cross process technique, the key art captures their dynamic, as both characters are merged together, depicting their struggle for power. The effect of the key art create layers of intrigue, that mirror the layers of complexity in the characters. The art features the iconic Egyptian colors of blue and gold that evoke a sense of warmth and coldness, of life and death.

New York, NY, April 28, 2015 – Spike TV’s hit original reality-competition series “Ink Master” returns for a sixth season starting Tuesday, June 23 at 10 pm ET/PT, and this time it’s best to  ‘know your enemy.’  Eighteen tattoo artists from around the country will battle it out in permanent ink and sometimes with each other for a $100,000 grand prize, an editorial feature in Inked and, of course, the bragging rights title of ‘Ink Master.’  This season it’s not just about the rivalries the artists create during the competition, each contestant comes with their own personal tattoo rival – their master or apprentice.

Each week “Ink Master” puts artists through a series of tattoo challenges that are not only designed to test the artists’ technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity, where they must create and execute an original tattoo by command on a ‘Human Canvas.’  Each episode focuses on a different and distinct style of tattooing including American traditional, Japanese, trash polka, anatomical and Victorian, among others.   The masterpieces these artists create will last a lifetime, but so will their mistakes.

After every challenge, the contestants face a tough panel made up of series host Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and world renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo) who are joined by a roster of guest stars including Avan Jogia (“Tut”), Khaseem Greene (Chicago Bears), Tony Jefferson (Arizona Cardinals), Keith Pough (Cleveland Browns), Allen Robinson (Jacksonville Jaguars), Darius Slay (Detroit Lions) and Kamerion Wimbley (Tennessee Titans).

Once again the Human Canvases, who volunteer their bodies to be tattooed by the “Ink Master” contestants, will have a say in who gets sent home.  The Canvases will form their own jury, deliberate as a group and pick one artist per episode who will be up for elimination.  In the jury room, viewers get an inside look at the heated arguments and wicked emotions as the Canvases defend or abandon their new ink and artist.

New York, NY, April 22, 2015 – “Lip Sync Battle” is a ratings and multiplatform superstar for Spike TV. As a result, the network has announced it will pick up another 20 episodes of the highly-rated critically-acclaimed series, debuting in 2016.

“Lip Sync Battle is a television and viral rock star for Spike,” proclaimed Kevin Kay, President, Spike.  “We are thrilled to be renewing Lip Sync Battle whose success is a direct result of the brilliance and creativity of our producers, the brave performers, and of course the coolest new duo on television,  LL COOL J and Chrissy Teigen.”

Through four episodes, “Lip Sync Battle” is the most-watched original series in network history, averaging 3 million viewers, and is the top-rated series in its timeslot in the coveted demographic of Adults 18-49 in all of cable. The series is a digital hit as well, amassing over 107 million video streams in three weeks, with the Anne Hathaway “Wrecking Ball” clip securing 14 million views alone.

Other ratings highlights include:

  • Across 50 airings (Spike, MTV & BET) between 4/2 and 4/19, “Lip Sync Battle” reached 33.1 million viewers (including 16.5 million women)
  • The highest rated series in network history with Adults 18-49
  • The most watched program of any kind in network history with women in all demos

TO DEVELOP FAMILY DRAMA “HARVEST”

 

New York, NY, April 17, 2015 – Spike TV is joining forces with legendary film/television producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Horizon Television to develop the original scripted drama series “Harvest.” Centering on a father who turns to a life of crime to protect a dark family secret, “Harvest” marks Spike’s first scripted deal with a major studio and is the network’s latest venture in creating big and bold entertainment for a gender-balanced audience.

“Harvest” centers on a mild-mannered cemetery caretaker who finds his small town life in jeopardy when his estranged, criminal father tracks him down. In order to protect his teenage daughter from the dark secret of her past, the caretaker teams up with his sworn paternal enemy to deal in the illegal tissue trade.

“Harvest” is written by Ian Sobel & Matt Morgan (“12 Monkeys,” “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series”). Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman are executive producers, and KristieAnne Reed is co-executive producer. Sobel & Morgan are supervising producers on “Harvest,” from Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Horizon Television.

Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV, Ted Gold, Senior Vice President, Scripted Original Series, and Justin Lacob, Vice President, Original Series, will oversee the project.

Spike TV will premiere its first scripted event series in eight years, “Tut,” this summer. The network recently announced script options for “The Crusaders” from Pierce Brosnan’s Irish DreamTime, Sennet Entertainment, Michael Finch and Academy Award®-winning writer David Franzoni; “Deep Web” with producer/director/writer Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures; “The Chairman,” based on the Stephen Frey best-seller; “Red Mars” from Vince Gerardis, Co-Executive Producer of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s “Mars Trilogy;” “Emergency Broadcast” from Legendary Pictures and Thomas Tull; and “War at the Shore” based on Richard D. “Skip” Bronson’s book.

Los Angeles, CA, April 8, 2015 – Chachi Senior has been named Senior Vice President, Spike TV, Original Series, it was announced today by Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series to whom he will report.

In his new position, Senior will lead Spike TV’s non-scripted development team and will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day department activities that will further broaden and expand Spike’s growing audience.

“Chachi is a respected veteran in this industry, with a proven track record of leading talented teams to success,” said Levy.  “Chachi joins Spike at an exciting time as the network continues to attract a gender-balanced audience with hit non-scripted series.”

Senior previously served as CEO of Ardaban, a dedicated entertainment format company whose development is produced in conjunction with Shine America and distributed globally via Shine International.  As Ardaban’s top executive, Senior led NY and LA based teams dedicated to creating and developing new formats for both the US and International marketplace.

Senior is one of the leading reality content producers in the TV industry, having sold and produced programming around the world to such networks and companies as TV Asahi, BBC America, Bravo, CMT, E!, Endemol, Fremantle, Fuji TV, Comedy Central, Planet Green, Oxygen, Food Network, Shine, Travel, and Tru TV, among others.

An Emmy® Award-winning executive producer and director, Senior has launched numerous successful formats including “Chopped,” “Momentum,” “Randy Jackson presents Lovesong,” “Winsanity” and “No Kitchen Required.”  Additionally, Senior has won two Emmys for the digital series “Book Obsessed” which he directed and executive produced in 2009.

Before launching Ardaban, Senior served as Co-president of IAC’s Notional, where he spearheaded the creation, sale and content production of numerous formats for global distribution.

Prior to helping launch Notional, Senior spent three years at City Lights Media, building out its television and digital departments.  He created and produced content for brands and networks such as ABC Family, Barnes & Noble, Glamour, Hearst, Kohler, Lifetime, MTV, MySpace, Reader’s Digest, SITV, Walmart, TLC and WEtv.

Senior began his career as a principal at First Motionless Pictures before moving on to AMC Networks. He has produced several music videos, commercials and independent films including: Los Angeles Film Festival winner and Independent Spirit Award nominee Unknown Soldier, and South-by-Southwest Audience Award winner Blackballed – the Bobby Dukes Story.

In 2001, (after 9/11) Senior placed his production career on hold for one year and volunteered to teach film production to juniors and seniors at NYC’s High School of Art & Design.

Senior currently resides in Santa Monica, California with his wife Adriana, and their two daughters Ava and Chloe Belle.

New York, NY, April 3, 2015 – Spike’s premiere of “Lip Sync Battle” on Thursday, April 2 at 10:00pm ET/PT drew record ratings for the network. The half-hour original series delivered 2.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched non-scripted series debut in network history. “Lip Sync Battle” also delivered the highest rating with Adults 18-49 in network history for a non-scripted series debut (1.3 Adults 18-49).

“The record ratings are indicative of the incredible talent and creativity of the producers and participants who delivered in so many ways,” said Kevin Kay, President, Spike. “We are incredibly encouraged by the balanced audience of the premiere as we continue our mission to target a broad viewership.”

Enclosed are some other key ratings/ social media notes from Lip Sync Battle’s debut:

- This was the highest rated series premiere in Spike history among W18-49  (1.5) and W18-34 (1.4)

- Spike has never had higher W18-49 and W18-34 ratings in this time period

- This was Spike’s highest P18-49 rating and largest average audience in the time period in over 8 years.

- The 18-49 audience was 56% female

- The new episode at 10:30pm ET/PT delivered 2 million viewers and 1.2 with Adults 18-49.

- Total Video Views: Lip Sync Battle content has generated 15 million Video Views across Spike’s Owned & Operated properties as well as Facebook and YouTube.

- Twitter Ranking  Ranked #1 series on cable and ranked #2 series across all networks with  #LipSyncBattle trending in the  US and Worldwide during both East and West coast airings.

New York, NY, March 3, 2015 – “Lip Sync Battle” fans have a reason to rejoice! Spike TV has greenlit eight more episodes of highly-anticipated new, original series, “Lip Sync Battle.” The series is based on the cultural phenomenon of lip sync battling seen by millions on television and online.

“Lip Sync Battle” debuts on Thursday, April 2 at 10:00pm ET/PT and features celebrities going head to head – lip-syncing the song of their choice – battling for the coolest bragging rights on the planet.

The featured performers for the new eight episodes include Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Justin Bieber, Queen Latifah, Will Arnett, Alison Brie, Mike Tyson, and Terry Crews among others to be announced shortly.

Spike TV taped 10 episodes of “Lip Sync Battle” last month in New York showcasing the lip syncing skills of many of the biggest names in entertainment including Jimmy Fallon, Dwayne Johnson, Anna Kendrick, Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, John Krasinski, Meghan Trainor, Common and more.  The new eight battles will be taped in Los Angeles this month.

“Lip Sync Battle” is hosted by entertainment icon and two-time GRAMMY Award-winner LL COOL J with pop culture sensation Chrissy Teigen serving in the role of a color commentator.
