New York, NY – August 24, 2017- The second season of the hit fantasy series “The Shannara Chronicles” premieres Wednesday, October 11 at 10pm ET/PT on Spike. The new season consists of 10 one-hour episodes. The first season of the original scripted drama, based on the best-selling fantasy book series by Terry Brooks, debuted on MTV in 2016.

Season two takes place one year after the events of last season. The Four Lands are in chaos. The re-emergence of magic has the populace terrified, and an organization called The Crimson is hunting down magic users, using fear and intimidation to sow discord among the races. Wil, scarred by the loss of Amberle and his separation from Eretria, has turned his back on his magical destiny to become a healer. But when a mysterious woman named Mareth saves Wil from a Crimson attack, he is forced to rejoin the fight.

“The Shannara Chronicles” stars Austin Butler (Wil), Ivana Baquero (Eretria), Manu Bennett (Allanon), Aaron Jakubenko (Ander) and Marcus Vanco (Bandon) along with new cast members Vanessa Morgan (Lyria), Malese Jow (Mareth), Gentry White (Garet), Caroline Chikezie (Queen Tamlin), and Desmond Chiam (General Riga).

New York, NY, June, 28, 2017 – The cast for Paramount Network’s first original scripted drama series, “Yellowstone,” is ramping up with an impressive list of actors.  Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes and Cole Hauser have joined world-renowned actor and Oscar®-winner Kevin Costner for the 10 one-hour episode series written and directed by Oscar®-nominated and critically-acclaimed screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (“Hell or High Water,” “Sicario,” “Wind River”) and executive produced by The Weinstein Company with John and Art Linson (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Fight Club,” “Heat”).

“Yellowstone”  is set to begin production this August in Utah and will premiere on Paramount Network in Summer 2018.

“Yellowstone” follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Costner), who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders — land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park.  It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny — where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier.  It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.

Luke Grimes (“American Sniper,” “The Magnificent Seven”) joins as John Dutton’s youngest son Cory, an emotionally reserved ex-Navy SEAL who lives with his Native American wife and seven year old son on the reservation.

Wes Bentley (“American Beauty,” “Interstellar”) will portray John’s other son Jamie, a polished lawyer considering a career in politics who continues to seek approval from his father despite his love for the limelight.

Kelly Reilly (“Flight,” upcoming “Britannia” and “10×10”) will play John’s daughter Beth, a smart and powerful woman who is always prepared to fight alongside her father.

Cole Hauser (“Tigerland,” “White Oleander”) is Rip Wheeler, a tough and merciless wrangler from Yellowstone Ranch who will stop at nothing to get the job done.

Spike TV Finds Strong Ratings In “The Mist”

New York, NY, June, 27, 2017 – Spike TV’s first scripted dramatic series in over a decade, “The Mist,” has gotten off to a promising start.

Premiering on Thursday, June 22 at 10pm ET/PT,  “The Mist” delivered significant increases in Adults 18-49 (+98%) and total viewers (+137%) in its timeslot compared to the previous 4-week average.

The solid numbers are encouraging as the network rebrands to Paramount Network in January with an emphasis on premium scripted programming.

Overall, “The Mist” drew 1.3 million viewers with 0.6 Adults 18-49. (Ratings include DVR +3 numbers)

Based on a story by Stephen King, Spike’s THE MIST has been re-imagined for television by Executive Producer and Writer Christian Torpe and produced by TWC-Dimension Television.  The story centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime.  As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other.  Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.

SPIKE TV INKS 10 EPISODES OF NEW SERIES “INK MASTER: ANGELS”

New York, NY, June 5, 2017 – Spike’s hit original tattoo-competition franchise, “Ink Master,” continues to grow, as the network has greenlit 10 episodes of new series, “Ink Master: Angels.” The series features four of “Ink Master” Season 8’s top female competitors – Ryan Ashley, Kelly Doty, Nikki Simpson and Gia Rose – as they travel the country and go head to head with some of America’s most talented tattoo artists.  Competitors will face a variety of tattoo-based challenges to see who has what it takes to beat the “Angels” and earn a spot on Season 10 of “Ink Master” (premiering on Paramount Network in 2018). Both series are produced by Truly Original.

The announcement was made today by Chachi Senior, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming & Development, Spike/Paramount Network.

PARAMOUNT NETWORK ANNOUNCES FIRST NEW, ORIGINAL SCRIPTED DRAMA SERIES, “YELLOWSTONE”

New York, NY, May 3, 2017 – Paramount Network, television’s new premium entertainment brand launching in January 2018, has greenlit a new, original, epic, sweeping cinematic scripted family drama series, “Yellowstone.” The series is written and directed by Oscar®-nominated and critically-acclaimed screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (“Hell or High Water,” “Sicario,” “Wind River”) and executive produced by The Weinstein Company with John and Art Linson (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Fight Club,” “Heat”). “Yellowstone” is slated to go into production for 10 one-hour episodes this fall and will debut on the network in Summer 2018.

“Yellowstone” is the first new big and complex project developed for Paramount Network.

“Yellowstone” follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders — land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park.  It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny — where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier.  It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.

Sheridan is widely-regarded as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after writer/directors with recent projects such as “Hell or High Water,” starring Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine, which received an Academy-Award® and Golden Globe Nomination for Best Screenplay, and “Sicario,” starring Benicio del Toro, Emily Blunt, and Josh Brolin which garnered various nominations including the prestigious Writers Guild of America Award for Best Screenplay.  Sheridan made his directorial debut with “Wind River,” starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January and will premiere nationwide this summer.

Los Angeles, CA, April 20, 2017 – “American Woman,” a new half-hour scripted dramedy starring Alicia Silverstone (“Clueless,” “Suburgatory”), Mena Suvari (“American Beauty,” “Chicago Fire”) and Jennifer Bartels (“Broken”), starts production this week in Los Angeles, CA.  The 12-episode series from John Wells Productions in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television will premiere on Paramount Network in the first quarter of 2018.
Inspired by the real-life upbringing of Kyle Richards (“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”) who also serves as a co-executive producer, “American Woman” follows Bonnie (Silverstone), an unconventional mother struggling to raise her two daughters after leaving her husband amid the rise of second-wave feminism in 1970s Los Angeles.  Bonnie also comes to rely on the help of her two best friends, Kathleen (Suvari) and Diana (Bartels), and these three women each discover their own brand of independence in a glamorous and ever-changing world reluctant to give it.

 

“American Woman” is written and executive produced by Emmy® winner John Riggi (“30 Rock,” “The Comeback”), executive produced by Emmy® winner John Wells (“Shameless,” “ER,” “The West Wing”) and co-executive produced by Kyle Richards. The series is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television.

 

Brad Gardner, Senior Vice President, Development and Original Programming, Paramount Network and TV Land, will serve as the executive in charge of production and will oversee the project for the network.

Season 9 Introduces Nine Pairs Of Contestants Who Battle For The Largest Grand Prize in Series History And, For The First Time, The Title Of “Master Shop”

New York, NY, April 20, 2017 – Spike TV’s hit original reality-competition series “Ink Master” returns for a ninth season on Tuesday, June 6 at 10pm ET/PT, with the highest stakes yet and twice as much prize money on the line.  This season, shops from all around the country are sending two of their strongest artists to compete for a $200,000 grand prize, an editorial feature in Inked and, for the first time in “Ink Master” history, the title of “Master Shop.” The series is produced by Truly Original.

This season comes with a new twist, as artists will be competing in pairs and representing their hometown shops.  Throughout the competition, the artists are not only tested on their technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity, as they must conceive and execute original tattoos on “human canvases.” Each episode will focus on a different and distinct style of tattooing, and as always, while the artists’ masterpieces will last a lifetime…so will their mistakes.

After every challenge, the contestants face a tough panel comprised of musician, filmmaker and artist Dave Navarro, as well as world-renowned tattoo artists Chris Nuñez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).

LAUREL WEIR NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, RESEARCH, PARAMOUNT NETWORK, TV LAND, CMT

New York, NY, April 13, 2017 – Laurel Weir has been named Senior Vice President, Research, Paramount Network, TV Land, CMT. In her new role, Weir will be critical in shaping the strategic rebrand of Spike into Paramount Network, launching next January. She will oversee all research efforts — including consumer insights, trend forecasting, and multiplatform measurement — to inform development, programming, marketing and more for Paramount Network, TV Land, and CMT.

Weir will report to Colleen Fahey Rush, Executive Vice President, Insights & Audience Science, and Chief Research Officer of Viacom Media Networks and partner closely with Kevin Kay, President of Paramount Network, TV Land, CMT. The announcement was made today by Rush.

“Laurel possesses an astute sense of the competitive adult marketplace and television landscape that will be invaluable in our rebrand of Spike into Paramount Network,” said Rush.  “She is a bold forward-thinker and we are thrilled to have her in this vital role.”

Weir previously served as Senior Vice President, Strategic Insights and Research for MTV.  While at MTV, she initiated a comprehensive study of young Millennials and Gen Z to inform the reinvention of the brand.  Weir joined MTV from the Viacom Kids and Family Group, where she served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Insights and Research, overseeing research for adult-focused networks TV Land, CMT, and Nick At Nite.

Weir joined Viacom in 2002 and served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Insights and Research at TV Land.  During her tenure at the network, Weir made her mark as a lead strategist behind its rebrand and pivot to original programming.  She was critical in developing audience targets for the network’s current slate of comedies, including “Younger” and “Teachers.”  Her work at TV Land earned her several industry recognitions, including a David Ogilvy Award for Excellence in Advertising Research.
