Los Angeles, CA, September 8, 2011 – After an overwhelmingly positive response, which included strong ratings and online traffic, to the first-ever LIVE “Deadliest Warrior” special event in August, Spike TV’s hit series, “Deadliest Warrior” is upping the ante to cap off a groundbreaking third season with an even bigger, supersized, 2.5 hour LIVE finale event (#dwlive). Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and a surprise special guest join hosts Richard “Mack” Machowicz, Geoff Desmoulin and Dr. Armand Dorian to discuss and analyze the episode and results, answer fan Facebook (via the “Deadliest Warrior” wall) and Twitter questions in real time (@Warriors_Den), reveal never-before-seen footage, including a special visit to the ER to see a day in the life of Dr. Dorian and make an exclusive announcement “Deadliest Warrior” fans won’t want to miss. The supersized LIVE event of “Deadliest Warrior” premieres Wednesday, September 14 from 9:00PM-11:30PM (ET/ tape delay PT) on Spike TV. The event will be the first to televise live, instant audience participation and second-by-second voting results as part of the on-air broadcast on Spike TV.

In “Vampires vs. Zombies,” the “Deadliest Warrior” franchise takes on its first-ever fantasy matchup to determine once and for all, which of these mythical creatures would come out on top in this battle of the undead. Vampires and Zombies have terrorized and tantalized their way through pop culture for decades – from “Dracula” to the “Twilight Saga” to “Walking Dead.” The unprecedented television event features an array of icons of film and fiction who are authorities on the topic, including George Romero (“Night of the Living Dead”), Max Brooks (World War Z)¸Steve Niles (30 Days of Night), Scott Bowen (Vampire Survival Guide) and Matt Mogk (founder of the Zombie Research Society). Through these expert interviews, scientific tests and careful analysis, it will be determined who would win in a battle to the death between these two iconic groups.

In “Gurkhas vs. French Foreign Legion,” Gurkhas, the fearless Nepalese mountain assassins who take on the British Empire’s most dangerous missions go up against the French Foreign Legion, fearless desert fighters made up of an international infantry of veterans and outlaws paid to fight for France. Both warriors endured training in incredibly harsh conditions to become World War 2’s deadliest mercenaries.

The 90-minute LIVE special centers on the “US Army Rangers vs. North Korean Special Operations Forces” matchup.  The matchup is especially relevant today as it marks the first time in “Deadliest Warrior” history where the two warriors have a very real possibility of going to battle in a war that could erupt at any moment.  The episode features the US Army Rangers, the most elite light infantry unit that has always been first to the battlefield in every major engagement in which the US has ever been involved, facing off against the North Korean Special Operations Forces, the fanatical, extremist super commandos who spearhead the military of the world’s most dangerous rogue nation.

NEW YORK, NY – July 13, 2011 – Spike TV is taking its hunt for the “Deadliest Warrior” to San Diego Comic-Con.   The network announced today its plans for the “Deadliest Warrior – Vampire vs. Zombies” panel on Thursday, July 21 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, the launch of a new “Deadliest Warrior” augmented reality mobile app available on iPhones and iPads beginning Thursday, July 21 and a hosted video game tournament at the Spike TV Booth for its new “Deadliest Warrior: Legends” game.  During Comic-Con, Spike will also host an autograph signing with TNA wrestlers Kurt Angle and Mickie James on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 at 1:00PM and 3:00PM, respectively, at Booth #3945.

Thursday, July 21: “Deadliest Warrior” Virtual Mobile Scavenger Hunt .  Spike TV has partnered with GoldRun to allow Comic-Con attendees to interact with various augmented reality (AR) warriors.  Throughout Comic-Con, attendees will get to enter the world of “Deadliest Warrior.”  Fans will get to hunt and capture the series warriors during the “Deadliest Warrior “ Scavenger Hunt.   Users are encouraged to take a picture with the warriors and upload them to the Warrior’s Den Facebook page.

“Faceoff” – Attendees to the Spike TV booth will get the opportunity to “Conquer Warriors” by striking a fighting pose with the AR character.  A new warrior will be released each day (Joan Of Arc, George Washington and Ghengis Kahn.).  Designated iPads will stream the action to the booth’s monitors.  Players will be prompted to upload these photos to their Facebook profiles as well as the Warrior’s Den Facebook page.

“Warrior’s Wardrobe” – Through this portion of the application, participants at the Spike TV booth can become George Washington or Ghengis Kahn by taking a picture of themselves with virtual props; George Washington’s wig and tricorn hat or Ghengis Kahn’s helmet. A slideshow of the best images rotate on the monitors at the Spike TV booth. 

“Vampires vs Zombies Face-off” – this component of the app allows Comic-Con attendees to take photos of zombies, vampires, floating body parts and animated blood at the “Deadliest Warrior” panel. Players can then present their pictures for exclusive giveaways at the Spike TV booth.

Thursday, July 21- Sunday, July 24 – “Deadliest Warrior:  Legends” Video Game Tournament.  Throughout Comic-Con, fans can swing by the Spike TV booth to play the recently launched “Deadliest Warrior” video game.   Attendees can put their metal where their mouths are and battle the fiercest warriors in history with all new weapons, interactive environments, hand-to-hand combat and new finishing moves.  Prizes include DVDs, t-shirts, posters and more.

Los Angeles, CA, June 14, 2011 – After two seasons of fervid debate, Spike TV’s multi-platform hit show, “Deadliest Warrior,” is back to put more speculation to rest, lining up more legends of war to go head-to-head in a fight to determine who will reign supreme.  This revolutionary third season will create an even more comprehensive composite of these formidable combatants than any previous season, with more in-depth segments and scientific exploration.  “Deadliest Warrior” returns with 10 one-hour episodes on a new night with more unprecedented matchups, including the first female warrior and first fantasy matchup, beginning Wednesday, July 20 (10-11p.m., ET/PT) on Spike TV.

The debut episode, “George Washington vs. Napoleon Bonaparte,” features two larger-than-life generals who both fought in the age of revolutions, now meeting for the first time on the battlefield.   America’s first great general, George Washington, who defeated the British empire against all odds to become known as the father of the world’s most powerful nation, will square off against Napoleon Bonaparte, the brutal French warlord turned emperor who terrorized Europe in his quest to conquer the world. 

Other highly-anticipated matchups this season include the series’ first female warrior Joan of Arc vs. William the Conqueror, Genghis Khan vs. Hannibal, Saddam Hussein vs. Pol Pot, U.S. Army Rangers vs. North Korean Special Operations Force, Crazy Horse vs. Pancho Villa, Ivan the Terrible vs. Hernan Cortes, French Foreign Legion vs. Gurkhas and our first fantasy matchup Zombies vs. Vampires. 

The new season of “Deadliest Warrior” is focused on enhancing the viewer experience and more definitively crowning a winner with several updates to the show, including:

New Co-host Navy SEAL Richard “Mack” Machowicz (“Future Weapons”): Mack brings a warrior’s perspective to this series, as well as a weapons and battle tactician’s expertise.  He provides viewers with a richer understanding of the men behind the weapons and insight into their specific military strategies.

New Armory Segment: resident weapons fabricator David Baker will discuss how he makes each weapon.  He also covers the weapon design and historical data behind the weapons. 

New Digital Combat Engine: created by game designer Robert Daly, it incorporates complex weapons data, damage probabilities and more than 100 different X factors.  The new combat engine will also simulate 5,000 battles, upped from the previous 1000. 

X factors: series will now take into account hundreds of critical intangibles that will be given numerical values based on analysis of the warriors’ lives, tactics and psychological profiles.  These can range from the warrior’s diet and physique to the terrain to what type of disease was prevalent and the extent of medical attention available at that time. 

Chalk Talk: a new segment led by Mack, where each warrior’s most infamous battle’s strategy will be drawn out on touch tables to uncover weaknesses and strengths.

Geoff’s Fabrication Lab: for the more unorthodox scenarios, co-host Geoff Desmoulin will describe in depth his thought process and the science behind the test fabrication in order to collect the most accurate data.  

Expanded role of Dr. Dorian: co-host Dorian will still analyze the trauma to the human body, but will now delve into the physical and psychological traits that have shaped each warrior – many of which become X factors.    

Warrior Specific Experts: each side will now feature one historical expert and one weapons expert.

Each new episode of “Deadliest Warrior” will be made available in HD for download-to-own the day after the episode premieres on iTunes, Xbox, Sony Playstation and Amazon Video On Demand.    New episodes in SD will also launch day after air on Samsung’s Media Hub (Galaxy Tab and other devices). 

Building on the success of the series and last year’s hit downloadable game, “Deadliest Warrior: The Game” which sold over 400,000 units, the new warrior-based fighting video game, “Deadliest Warrior: Legends,” will reach beyond weapons and armor and put gamers back on the battlefield with the most legendary warriors in history.  This version will feature new heroic warriors, new fighting options, a more precise projectile system, more arenas and a new campaign mode.  The title, published by 345 Games, will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and Sony Playstation Network this summer.
