Jon Slusser

Senior Vice President, Sports and Specials - Spike TV

Jon Slusser oversees Spike’s Sports and the network’s LIVE specials and events including the annual celebrity-fest, “Guys Choice,” “One Night Only,” and the newly-created “Rock The Troops” event debuting Veterans Day, 2016. Slusser also looks to create new LIVE multiplatform events for the network’s expanding gender-balanced audience.

Slusser has been integral in the development of Bellator MMA into an emerging global sports franchise since its launch Spike in 2013. As the head of Spike Sports, he also oversees the network’s coverage of “Premier Boxing Champions” and GLORY kickboxing and was instrumental in the successful branding of “Friday Night Lights Out” in 2015.

Slusser was named Senior Vice President of Sports in 2012 and along with overseeing LIVE Sports, he has helmed the network’s critically-acclaimed “I Am” documentary series which has featured Chris Farley, Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen, Evel Knievel, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. During his tenure at Spike, Slusser has overseen the network’s coverage of major pop culture events including E3, Comic Con and others and Spike’s lucrative interstitial programming including “The Playbook” and various video game shows and specials.Slusser is a proven brand builder who has left an indelible mark in every step of his career. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Spike Digital Entertainment; a group which he helped to create that included Spike.comGameTrailers.com and GameTrailers TV – a weekly TV show on Spike TV where he also served as Executive Producer. Spike Digital Entertainment, with an audience of over 20 million people per month, includes websites, TV shows, mobile platforms and apps. Slusser joined MTV Networks in 2006 when the company he founded, GameTrailers.com, a video website dedicated to video games, was acquired by Viacom.

After graduating from the University of Southern California in marketing and finance, Slusser worked for the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers in public relations, finance and special business projects. In 1997, he co-founded Hornet Inc, a sports production company working with over 50 professional sports teams to create in-game entertainment programming and broadcast design. Hornet is currently an award winning full service production and design company that works with a roster of leading artists and directors to create computer animation, motion graphics and live-action film.
