David Schwarz is Senior Vice President, Communications, Spike TV. Schwarz oversees all the day-to-day activities of the Spike TV press department and work to further the brand as a leading provider of quality, high-action entertainment for men. Schwarz previously served as vice president of Communications, Spike TV.
Schwarz joined the Viacom family in 1999 as Manager of Publicity for TNN (the predecessor to Spike TV). After a two-year stint he was named Director of Communications, at TV Land/Nick at Nite where he spearheaded publicity efforts for major network tent-pole programming events including “Inside TV Land: African Americans in Television,” “The First Annual TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic Television,” and the dedication of the Mary Tyler Moore Statue.
In February 2003, Schwarz joined the launch team for Spike TV as director, then as senior director of communications. Among the publicity campaigns Schwarz has helmed include “The Ultimate Fighter,” “Pros vs. Joes,” “MXC,” “Ride With Funkmaster Flex,” “Viva Baseball,” “AutoRox,” “The GQ Men of the Year Awards,” and “The John Henson Project.”
Schwarz began his career in television at USA Network in 1994. During his five years at the network he coordinated publicity efforts for the network’s coverage of the U.S. Open (tennis), French Open, The Masters, The Ryder Cup, The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, the weekly boxing series “USA Tuesday Night Fights,” the weekly wrestling programs “WWF Raw is War” and “WWF Sunday Night Heat,” and a 13-event PGA Tour schedule.
Schwarz graduated from Syracuse University in 1994 with a dual major in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science and currently lives in New York City.
