Casey Patterson

Executive Vice President,Talent Development & Studio Relations - Viacom Entertainment Group

Casey Patterson serves as Executive Vice President, Event Production, Talent Development and Studio Relations for the Viacom Entertainment Group.

Patterson is responsible for the creation and execution of brand-defining event programming and talent-driven content for Spike TV and TV Land as well as overseeing talent development and relations for these two popular consumer brands within the Entertainment Group.

The first woman hired at the “First Network for Men,” in February, 2003, Patterson has been instrumental from day one in launching and developing Spike TV from a fledgling network into a true television destination for Men 18-34 with strong brand awareness and loyalty in the target demographic.

Among the live events Patterson oversees for Spike TV is the “Video Game Awards,” which will air its eighth annual telecast this December and is recognized by the industry and fans alike as the preeminent celebration of the best in video games.  Patterson co-created and executive produces “Scream,” the first and only event to honor the incredible creative talent in the science fiction, fantasy, horror and comic book genres that drive box record office sales around the world.  Also, this past June, Spike TV featured an incredible array of Hollywood heavyweights at “Guys Choice,” two-hour homage to the kingdom of testosterone.

The network’s events are attended by the biggest names in entertainment including Robert DeNiro, Halle Berry, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Will Ferrell, Steve Carrel, Vince Vaughn, Matt Damon, as well as legends like Paul Newman, Muhammad Ali, Clint Eastwood and industry pioneers and luminaries such as George Lucas, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Tim Burton and Will Wright.

For each show, in addition to her network role, Patterson serves as Executive Producer, responsible for overseeing the entire production from set, to nominees, writing to talent, hiring the production team, sponsor integrations and more.  Patterson is the signature liaison between the network and the Hollywood community and has forged key relationships that have furthered the network’s mission as an entertainment home for guys.

Patterson also serves as TV Land talent development and event production chief and focusing on delivering the best in entertainment on all platforms for Adults 25-54.  The “TV Land Awards” honors classic television and are attended by A-List talent including Halle Berry, Hilary Swank, Robert Downey Jr., Billy Crystal, Jay Leno, Mary Tyler More, Carol Burnett and Alan Alda.  Patterson is responsible for bringing the “AFI Life Achievement Award” to TV Land which most recently honored Mike Nichols in June 2010.

It is Spike’s national fatherhood outreach campaign, “True Dads” which Patterson created, that is closest to her heart and has resonated with both the Spike audience and with advertisers.  Spike’s national fatherhood initiative partnered with the USO and United Through Reading® to launch “True Dads: In Uniform” which reaches out to help those fathers serving overseas who can’t physically interact with their kids.

Prior to Spike TV, Patterson, an Emmy®-nominated producer,  served as Director of Talent Development at VH1, where her contributions were central to the success of several high-profile events including: “The Concert for New York City;” “VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards;” “VH1 Divas Live;” “Saturday Night Live 25th Anniversary Special;” and “The Concert of the Century at the White House.” She was also a Talent Producer for FOX’s “Billboard Music Awards,” NBC’s “Concert for America” and CMT’s “Flameworthy Awards.” She was also a Co-Creator of the syndicated series, “The Sharon Osbourne Show.”  Overall, Patterson has been in the entertainment industry for 17 years and was named “A Woman to Watch in Entertainment” in 2008 by Multichannel News.
