New York, NY, February 20, 2014 – Spike TV has joined forces with Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street Productions and Giant Pirates Entertainment to develop a script for an original special-event series based on the best-selling book “The War At The Shore” by Richard D. “Skip” Bronson. The book chronicles the high-stakes battle between Donald Trump and Steve Wynn over the future of one of America’s most popular vacation and gambling meccas, Atlantic City.

Dana Brunetti from Trigger Street Productions is the Executive Producer for “The War At The Shore.” Brunetti, who served as Producer for “The Social Network” and “Captain Phillips,” both nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Picture, is currently producing the highly-anticipated “50 Shades of Grey.”  He is also an Executive Producer on the critically-acclaimed series “House of Cards.”

Troy Searer (“Breaking Bonaduce,” “Obsessed”) and Ross Jacobson (“In A World,” “Big Sur”) from Giant Pirates Entertainment also serve as Executive Producers for “The War At The Shore.”

The script focuses on the epic five-year (1995-2000) battle between two of the most outspoken and dynamic businessmen of our time, Trump and Wynn, who fought a bare-knuckled brawl with billions of dollars on the line and the very future of the seaside resort community at stake.

Bronson, the author of “The War At The Shore,” is a renowned businessman and developer, who was Wynn’s point man in Atlantic City, as they tried to develop a new resort complex there against huge odds.  He reveals the inside story of this titanic rumble and presents a rare look at the world of casino development and the essential modern chapter in the history of America’s “Boardwalk Empire.” The book was published by Overlook Hardcover and distributed by Penguin.

Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV, will oversee the project.

FRANK TANKI NAMED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, BRAND MARKETING AND CREATIVE, SPIKE TV


New York, NY – January 8, 2014
Frank Tanki, a 12-year veteran of Nickelodeon, has been named Executive Vice President, Brand Marketing and Creative, Spike TV.  The announcement was made by Kevin Kay, President, Spike TV, to whom he will report.

“Frank is a proven brand-builder and his ability to strategically connect with viewers will be vital as Spike continues to broaden its audience through distinctive original programming,” said Kay.

In his new role at Spike, Tanki is responsible for leading all consumer marketing and creative development for the brand, including consumer and trade advertising, digital and social marketing, partnership marketing, and on and off-air creative along with property messaging for all cross-business initiatives.

Previously, Tanki served as Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Strategic Property Planning & Marketing where he was responsible for the strategic planning and marketing of many of Nickelodeon’s key hits such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora The Explorer. He was also responsible for marketing Nick’s Live and Recreation platforms and partnership marketing, where he forged strategic marketing partnerships with the NFL, NASCAR, and various MLB and NBA Teams, as well as helping lead the brand’s annual presence at COMICON and the Licensing Show.  Prior to that, Tanki was Nickelodeon’s Senior Vice President of Partnership Marketing and Operations where he worked with partners such as Sony Music to launch Nick’s newest live-action series, “Big Time Rush,” which set a  record as the highest-rated and most-watched live-action Nick series premiere with kids, tweens and total viewers.

Tanki began his Nickelodeon career as the marketing project manager for “The Rugrats Movie,” coordinating strategic marketing plans among all of Nickelodeon’s divisions and Paramount Pictures.  He worked on the launch of “SpongeBob SquarePants” before moving on to Cartoon Network and Adult Swim as Director, Promotions Marketing. He returned to Nickelodeon as Senior Director, Brand Marketing, where he managed several successful marketing campaigns like “SpongeBob SquarePants,” ‘Best Day Ever’ marathon, which earned Nickelodeon its most-watched and highest-rated total programming day in history.  He also served as Vice President, Nickelodeon Brand Marketing, where Tanki directed the launch campaigns and off-air marketing for many of Nick’s most successful properties including “iCarly,” “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” and “The Penguins of Madagascar” and “The Kids’ Choice Awards.”

Tanki graduated from Boston College and earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Bernard M. Baruch College Executive MBA program.

SPIKE TV OPTIONS SCRIPT FOR CARL HIAASEN’S BEST-SELLING NOVEL, “BASKET CASE”

 Emmy-Award Winner Rob Reiner to Direct Series and Develop Script

 New York, NY, December 11, 2013 – Spike TV and FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) in association with Random House Television Productions and Castle Rock Entertainment, have joined forces to develop a script  for a new original series based on the best-selling novel “Basket Case” by prominent author and journalist Carl Hiaasen.

Legendary Emmy® Award-winning director, producer, actor Rob Reiner is set to direct and develop the script.  Peter Gethers (“The Cat Who Went To Paris,” “Old Jews Telling Jokes”) and Jeffrey Levine (“Too Big to Fail”) will serve as executive producers and Alex Taub (“Hart of Dixie,” “Drop Dead Diva”) will write the series. UTA represents both Random House Television and Taub. Thom Beers, Craig Cegielski and Stefanie Berk serve as executive producers for FremantleMedia North America. Reiner and Liz Glotzer are executive producers for Castle Rock Entertainment.

“Corruption, murder, and laughs. I can’t think of a more satisfying combination.  Carl Hiaasen strikes the perfect balance.  I’m so looking forward to entering his twisted world,” said Reiner.

“It’s very cool to have Rob Reiner involved with ‘Basket Case,’” said Hiaasen.  “Among writers of satire, ‘Spinal Tap’ stands as a work of genius.  I’m excited to see what Rob will do with my twisted little novel.”

The plot of “Basket Case” focuses on a great investigative reporter who has trouble dealing with authority, change, women, success, and most of all, corruption. The family-run newspaper he works for is sold to a giant, international conglomerate and after he savages the new and very powerful owner in a video on the paper’s website, he is demoted to the lowest position on the paper, the obituary desk.  Obits, however, provide a new perspective into crime-ridden Miami and he soon learns that they are a unique window into suspicious deaths and weird goings on. Using an unusual team of friends, relatives, an ex-wife, newspaper misfits, and his beautiful new boss, he strives to regain his investigative credibility and a saner life.

A critically acclaimed novelist whose works have major staying power on national bestseller lists, Carl Hiaasen has penned 13 novels for adults, including most recently “Star Island” in 2010 and “Bad Monkey” in 2013. Hiaasen also authored four books for young adults most notably “Hoot” in 2002, which was made into a movie four years later.  He has sold nearly 13 million copies of his books in the U.S in hardcover, paperback, audio, and e-book editions, which have been. translated into 34 languages worldwide.  “Basket Case” has sold 700,000 copies in the U.S., and has been published in 13 foreign countries.
Hiaasen has received numerous awards for his work including the Damon Runyon Award from the Denver Press Club. His work has also appeared in many well-known magazines, including Sports Illustrated, Playboy, Time, Life, Esquire and, Gourmet.

VGX (#VGX) also announced that “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will be on hand along with an exclusive sneak peek of the highly anticipated game “South Park: The Stick of Truth.”  Additionally, VGX unveiled its first wave of exclusive world premieres that will be debuted during the three-hour live stream on Saturday, December 7, beginning at 6:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM PT.

The new VGX format dives deeper into the world of gaming and extends its coverage beyond awards presentations.  Fans will have unprecedented access to the industry’s top developers and talent and more exclusive world premieres than ever including exclusive new looks at “Titanfall,” “Quantum Break,” “South Park: The Stick of Truth,” “Broken Age,” “Dying Light,” “Tom Clancy’s The Division,” and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.” VGX will also feature Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime presenting a new look at an upcoming Wii U game.  Additional exclusives to be revealed shortly.
