 New York, NY, August 17, 2015 –Spike’s original documentary, “I Am Chris Farley” delivered record ratings for the network on Monday, August 10 9:00-11:00pm ET/PT).  With 3-day playback, the 2-hour tribute to the beloved comedic actor drew 1.5 million viewers, establishing it as the most watched documentary in Spike’s history.

“I Am Chris Farley” is Directed and Produced by Derik Murray (“I Am Evel Knievel,” “I Am Steve McQueen,” “I Am Bruce Lee”) and Co-Directed by Brent Hodge (“A Brony Tale”).

“The record ratings are a testament to this incredible film that was the definitive look at the hilarious yet complicated life of one of our generation’s most beloved comedic voices,” said Jon Slusser, Senior Vice President, Sports and Specials, Spike TV.  “We were thrilled to partner with Derik Murray’s Network Entertainment and Kevin Farley to create such a wonderful tribute to such an unforgettable personality.”

“I Am Chris Farley” drew a 1.0 rating with Adults 18-49, also the highest for a Spike documentary and further evidence of Spike’s shift to attract a more gender-balanced audience.  Recently, Spike delivered an average of 2.5 million viewers for its event series, “Tut.”

New York, NY, August 13, 2015 – On the heels of the successful scripted event-series “Tut,” Spike has greenlit its first dramatic scripted series in nine years. Spike has partnered with legendary film/television producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Horizon Television for the original scripted one-hour drama series “Harvest.”

The 10-episode series will go into production this fall and will debut on Spike in 2016.

“We are thrilled to partner with the incredibly creative and innovative visionary Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Horizon Television for our first scripted dramatic series in almost a decade,” said Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV. “We are confident that Harvest will build off the success of Tut which delivered strong ratings and new viewers to the channel.”

“Harvest” centers on a dedicated father, working two jobs to support his teenage daughter and give her the life he never had.  By day, he’s a cemetery caretaker, by night he attends nursing school.   However, when his own estranged father tracks him down and threatens to expose a terrible secret — he is compelled to partner with him in a black-market tissue and body parts trade.

“Harvest” is written by Ian Sobel & Matt Morgan (“12 Monkeys,” “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series”). Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman are executive producers, and KristieAnne Reed is co-executive producer. Sobel & Morgan are co-executive producers on “Harvest,” from Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Horizon Television.

Levy, Ted Gold, Senior Vice President, Scripted Original Series, and Justin Lacob, Vice President, Original Series, will oversee the project.

Spike TV debuted its first scripted event series in eight years, “Tut” in late July to strong ratings. AS SENIOR DIRECTOR, SCRIPTED DEVELOPMENT

 

Los Angeles, CA, August, 12, 2015 – Spike TV has named Lauren Ruggiero as Senior Director of Scripted Development it was announced today by Ted Gold, Senior Vice President of Scripted Original Series.

In her new position, Ruggiero will report directly to Gold, where she will help expand the development slate and co-manage show production.

“We are thrilled to have Lauren join our team,” says Gold.  “She brings a wealth of experience, tremendous creative energy and instinct.  I had the opportunity to work closely with Lauren on the production of ‘Tut’ and I know she will be a huge asset as we continue to expand Spike’s audience.”

Ruggiero comes to Spike from Elice Island Entertainment, where she worked in conjunction with Spike as co-producer of the hit limited event series, “Tut.”  She started her career in entertainment at the William Morris Agency as an agent trainee in their television literary department.   After a year in the agency trenches, she moved on to become a coordinator of original programming at AMC, where she worked on various hit series, including “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad,” “The Killing” and “The Walking Dead.”  At AMC, Lauren met her former boss, mentor and most recent collaborator of four years, Jeremy Elice, with whom she worked as a producer.

New York, NY, August 6, 2015 – To celebrate the career of comedic great Chris Farley, Spike is declaring Monday, August 10 “Chris Farley Day” featuring two of his classic movies, leading into the television premiere of the Spike original documentary, “I Am Chris Farley.” Farley’s hometown of Madison, Wisconsin will also declare it “Chris Farley Day” to celebrate their native son.

Spike TV, in association with Network Entertainment, presents the definitive look at one of America’s hilariously distinctive comedic performers, Chris Farley, in the original documentary “I Am Chris Farley.”

The film debuts on Spike Monday, August 10 at 9:00pm ET/PT, followed by DVD, Blu Ray and Video-On-Demand availability.  The network will also air two of Farley’s most memorable films, “Tommy Boy” and “Black Sheep” throughout the day.

Chris Farley lived his life full speed and committed to making everyone around him laugh out loud, and “I Am Chris Farley tells his hilarious, touching and wildly entertaining story for the first time ever – from his early days in Madison, Wisconsin, and at Marquette University, through his work at the legendary Second City to his rapid rise to the top of the comedy world on “Saturday Night Live” and in hit films like Tommy Boy and Black Sheep.

The film showcases the performer’s most memorable characters and skits from television and film, paired with iconic photographs, home movies and family snapshots, to fully round out the story of this comedy legend – a bear of a man who nevertheless had remarkable grace and physicality. Clips from Farley’s most unforgettable performances fill the documentary, from his breathtaking Chippendales audition alongside Patrick Swayze, to his comically ill-fated salesman in Tommy Boy, to his diatribes as Matt Foley, the motivational speaker who “lives in a van down by the river!”
