SANTA MONICA, Calif. (July 16, 2015) – Additional lightweight action will anchor the top of “Bellator: Guillard vs. Girtz” on Friday, Aug. 28 at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., with the addition of Saad Awad (18-6) vs. Patricky “Pitbull” Freire (13-6).

The contest serves as the co-headlining bout of “Bellator: Guillard vs. Girtz,” which airs live on Spike at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, while preliminary bouts will stream on Spike.com at 7 p.m. ET.

Tickets for the event, which start at just $50, go on sale this Friday at Pechanga.com and the Pechanga Resort & Casino box office. Doors for the event open at 4 p.m. PT local time, and the first contest takes place one hour later. Additional bouts will be announced shortly

In the evening’s main event, Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard (32-14-2, 2 NC) will make his highly anticipated Bellator MMA debut against Brandon “Cold Roll” Girtz (11-4). Additional bouts will be announced shortly.

The lone man to defeat Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks, Awad has amassed a 6-3 record since first lacing up the gloves for the promotion in 2009. With 14 of his 18 professional victories coming by way of finish, “Assassin” has generated a large Southern California fan base with his exciting fighting style.

Fighting out of Millenia MMA in Rancho Cucamonga, CA., Awad continues to work his way back towards a trilogy bout against “Ill Will” Brooks. The 32-year-old impressively defeated Rob Sinclair at Bellator 136 before suffering a leg injury that has since kept him out of action.

Awad now faces the elder brother of Bellator Featherweight Champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, Patricky, who has competed for Bellator MMA since 2011, amassing six victories along the way. It’s rare that “Pitbull’s” scraps reach the judges’ scorecards, with 10 of his 13 wins coming by way of finish.

Much like his Bellator 141 opponent, Freire has also been inactive as of late due to injury. As his social media exploits indicate, “Pitbull” has also set his sights on the lightweight belt and his matchup with Awad is the first step towards achieving his goal.

New York, NY, July 14, 2015 – Spike has partnered with some of the most creative minds in Hollywood to bolster its ever growing slate of scripted projects that aim to further the network’s mission to broaden its audience with big and bold original series.

The scripted drama projects span a wide range of genres and periods, all of it character driven material set in unique, compelling worlds.   These include series about an Occupied American heartland during World War III, a family living in a world without privacy, the Gilded Age pioneers of criminal defense law, and medical researchers pushing the boundaries of ethics and legality.

Spike’s aggressive approach has yielded projects from major studio players, as well as independents.  It is also developing several projects in-house.

BAD MEDICINE: This psychological horror series centers on a man in pain who is miraculously cured by a brilliant but unconventional doctor who specializes in clinical trials. The man goes all out to help this doctor find more breakthrough cures, only to realize that there are deadly consequences to the work the doctor does.  Aaron Mendelsohn serves as writer, Nick Hamm as Executive Producer and Momentum TV as producers.

HUMMEL & HOWE: Set in the late 19th century Gilded Age in New York City, this series showcases the wild cases and lives of William Howe and Abraham Hummel — two criminals desperate to escape their past who become the greatest criminal defense attorneys in American history.  “Hummel & Howe” is written by Andy Bellin, and produced by Scott Aversano and Tom Gormican of Additional Dialogue and Endemol Shine Studios.

MR. IN BETWEEN: Based on a short story by acclaimed novelist Walter Mosley, this series focuses on a high-stakes courier who traffics sensitive information between people for whom privacy is a matter of life and death. Diane Houslin and Walter Mosley serve as producers.

SECRET AMERICA: Set in the near future, this series explores a society where the threat of terrorism has turned the US government into an autocratic state.  The show will chronicle the lives of one family as they fight for survival in a world where everyone is watched and no one can be fully trusted, and where patriotism is demanded, not earned.  Alcon Television group President, Sharon Hall serves as Executive Producer, Josh Goldin and Rachel Abramowitz as writers and Jaume Collet-Serra as director.  Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson also serve as Executive Producers on this series.

Spike Presents a Landmark Television Event That Will Shed Light on the Truth Behind the Complex Story of John McAfee and an International Murder Mystery

New York, NY, July 8, 2015 – Spike presents a six-part television event, “The McAfee Project,*” that will shed light on the brilliant yet complicated tech pioneer John McAfee, viewed by some as the godfather of online security and by others as the master manipulator of fear whose the key figure in a  shocking international murder mystery.

Directed and Executive Produced by Billy Corben (“Cocaine Cowboys”), the docuseries will be centered around McAfee’s first-person interviews and will reveal unanswered questions about his life ranging from drug-fueled college days in Virginia, to learning to battle computer viruses early in his career at Lockheed in the 1980’s, to starting McAfee and Associates in 1987, to the 2012 murder investigation in Belize.

The series will also feature first-person interviews with those close to McAfee along with reenactments featuring pivotal seasons in his life. “The McAfee Project” will be shot this summer and air on Spike in 2016.

In April, 2012, John McAfee, a world-renowned billionaire computer anti-virus pioneer, found himself at the center of Central America’s hottest manhunt in recent history. McAfee was named a “person of interest,” but not a suspect, by police officials in Belize following the murder of his neighbor. McAfee went on the run for three weeks before crossing the border into Guatemala. He was detained by Guatemalan authorities soon after entry, and was soon fighting against deportation to Belize.

McAfee claims the police and drug cartels in Belize were out to kill him thus the escape to Guatemala. He also reportedly faked a series of heart attacks to prevent deportation to Belize and aid safe passage back to the United States. Following a lengthy legal battle, he was deported to the United States while his home in Belize mysteriously burned to the ground.

Was this celebrated tech genius really involved in the murder of a neighbor?  Or does he have nefarious enemies out to destroy him and crumble his empire?  Or is the man who earned enormous success and wealth based on the public’s online security fears and paranoia playing another mind-game?

McAfee continues to be a prophet of internet protection.  In 2010, the company he founded (McAfee Associates) was sold to Intel for an incredible $7.8 billion and four years later they announced they would be changing their name from McAfee to Intel Security.  Recently, McAfee launched Future Tense Central, a security and privacy company offering innovative mobile and web applications with the highest degree of security, empowering the user with the knowledge and awareness to make informed decisions about their personal information. In the main event, MMA legend Tito Ortiz (18-11) will take on Bellator’s reigning light heavyweight king, Liam McGeary (10-0). This will mark McGeary’s first defense of his coveted title.

The epic evening will also showcase a four-man, one-night light heavyweight tournament to determine the No. 1 contender in the division. The participants include the return ofMuhammed “King Mo” Lawal (15-4, 1 NC), former champion Emanuel Newton (25-8-1), the always dangerous Linton Vassell (15-4-1) and Phil Davis (13-3), who makes his highly anticipated Bellator Debut.

First round pairings for the tournament, as well as further details on the tournament format will be announced shortly.

The event will also feature Glory Kickboxing bouts that will feature many of the best fighters in the world. Namely, Bellator MMA competitors Joe Schilling and Paul “Semtex” Daley. Opponents for Schilling and Daley, as well as additional kickboxing matchups will be announced shortly.

Tickets for “Bellator MMA: Dynamite” will go on sale Friday, June 26 with an exclusive presale taking place on Thursday, June 25th. The Spike Original Special will be filmed at a Military Base overseas, location to be announced in the coming months. “ROCK THE TROOPS” will bow on Veterans Day 2016. 
 
The star-studded event will feature live performances from headliners from the worlds of music, movies, comedy, sports and more.
