New York, NY, Saturday, October 15, 2011 – After a decade of thrilling audiences worldwide and nearly eight billion dollars in global box office receipts, Spike TV presented a moving tribute to the “Harry Potter” film franchise with the help of its eponymous star, Daniel Radcliffe, and Lord Voldemort himself, Ralph Fiennes at its “SCREAM Awards 2011.” Fittingly, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” led the way with six awards, with Radcliffe accepting the night’s top honor, “The Ultimate SCREAM,” on the film’s behalf via remote surrounded by thousands of “Harry Potter” fans in New York City.  The star-studded tribute to all things fantasy, sci-fi, comic book and horror taped at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and premieres on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 18 (9:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT) with simulcasts on VH1 and VH1 Classic.

Perhaps the most anticipated sequel of all time, the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s epic “Batman” trilogy, “The Dark Knight Rises” won the award for “Most Anticipated Movie” with its stars Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt on hand to accept.

The godfather of science fiction, George Lucas, enthralled those in attendance with a surprise appearance as part of a tribute to Darth Vader as the character was bestowed with the Ultimate Villain honor.  Screen legend Paul Reubens emerged on stage in character as Pee-wee Herman riding the famed bicycle from “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” as he accepted the Visionary Award.

Nicolas Cage made a pyrotechnic filled entrance in receiving the Maverick Award before presenting an exclusive world premiere clip of “Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance,” while “Iron Man” himself Robert Downey Jr. accepted the Hero Award and presented never before seen footage of “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”

The night’s other big winners included HBO franchises “Game of Thrones” and “True Blood,” which each nabbed three “SCREAM” awards, as did Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan,” Aronofsky on hand to accept “Best Director” honors.  For a complete list of winners and to view exclusive red carpet footage of this year’s “SCREAM Awards,” visit scream.spike.com.

New York, NY, October 13, 2011 – This Saturday night in Los Angeles, Spike TV will honor the man responsible for one of the most iconic characters of all time, as Paul Reubens will receive the Visionary Award for his work as Pee-wee Herman over the past three decades at “SCREAM Awards 2011.”  The two-hour event premieres on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 18 (9:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT) and will be simulcast on VH1 and VH1 Classic.  Reubens joins an illustrious list of past “SCREAM Awards” honorees, which includes Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Keith Richards, George Lucas, Tim Burton, Quentin Tarantino, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Nolan and Robert Downey Jr., among others.

Reubens will be honored for the multitude of ways he entertained audiences as Pee-wee    Herman since his introduction of the character in 1978.  From the 22-time Emmy® Award winning “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” to the lengths Herman went to be reunited with his bicycle in “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” to the “The Pee-wee Herman Show” on Broadway, Reubens exhibited one of a kind creativity and groundbreaking originality and has had an extraordinary impact on generations of fans.

Said Reubens on his receiving the honor, “If Pee-wee were giving this quote, I think he’d scream out ‘I’m a visionary! I’m a visionary!’ and then run to the dictionary to look up what visionary means. But I know what it means, and I am profoundly grateful and honored to Spike TV for this recognition. New York, NY, October 5, 2011 – After eight films, nine Academy Award nominations, and years of inspiring millions of fans worldwide, Spike TV will say goodbye to the “Harry Potter” films as it presents the ultimate farewell tribute to the blockbuster franchise at its “SCREAM Awards 2011.” The sixth annual event, which honors all things sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic books, will tape at Universal Studios on Saturday, October 15, and premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 18 (9:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT).

Two-time Academy Award nominee Robert Downey Jr. will attend to accept SCREAM’s prestigious Hero Award. With wildly successful films like “Sherlock Holmes” and “Iron Man,” Downey has captivated fans and critics alike with his daring and iconic interpretations of some of cinema’s most beloved characters.

Academy Award winner and star of “National Treasure,” “Kick-Ass,” and “Ghost Rider,” Nicolas Cage will be on hand to reveal a exclusive new footage from “Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance” and to accept the Maverick Award to recognize his fearless and intriguing body of work. Appearing in over 60 films, Cage has blazed his own path through Hollywood and created some of the most memorable, eccentric and indelible roles.

New York, NY, September 7, 2011 – The reboot of one hallowed franchise and the thrilling final chapter of another are poised to lead the way at Spike TV’s “SCREAM Awards 2011” (#ScreamAwards), which will be taped on Saturday, October 15 at the Universal Lot in Los Angeles, CA.  “X-Men: First Class” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” each garnered 14 nominations and will vie for many of the night’s top honors during Spike TV’s sixth annual celebration of the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic book genres and the actors, creators, icons and pioneers who have influenced and shaped the industry over the past year.

This year’s show will also continue the tradition of featuring exclusive World Premieres from some of the most anticipated movies of 2012.  The two-hour event will premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 18 (9:00–11:00 PM, ET/PT).  Presenters will be announced shortly.

“SCREAM is a show for the most passionate fans on earth and beyond,” said Casey Patterson, executive producer of “SCREAM Awards 2011” and executive vice president of event production, talent development and studio relations for Spike TV.  “This is their night to celebrate the magical, mind bending and super heroic year in movies and the TV shows that they love.”

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, “X-Men: First Class” nabbed 14 nominations, among them “The Ultimate Scream,” “Best Director,” and “Best Fantasy Movie.”  Not to be outdone, the final installment in the saga of the Hogwarts Academy’s prized pupil, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” also was nominated 14 times, and is up for “The Ultimate Scream,” “Best Director” and “Best Scream-Play.”  Two other Marvel Comics franchises joined “X-Men:  First Class” to round out the top four, with “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Thor” receiving 11 and nine nominations, respectively.  Among television franchises, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “True Blood” each tallied seven nominations, with AMC’s “The Walking Dead” up for six “SCREAM” awards.

Kevin Bacon, nominated for Best Villain for his role in “X-Men: First Class,” reacted by saying, “I have a long time love thing for movies that make me scream.  This is a thrill!”

“I am absolutely thrilled and honored to have received this nomination,” said Sean Bean, who is nominated for Best Fantasy Actor for his work on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

Industry titan J.J. Abrams said “”I’m honored to be nominated, and, currently, screaming,” for the nods he received for Best Director of “Super 8.”

Ballots were sent out to Spike TV’s “SCREAM Awards 2011” advisory board, consisting of some of the most respected and well-known members of the horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic book worlds who were responsible for advising on categories and determining nominees in each category.  All films, television shows and comic books were deemed eligible for inclusion if they were released between July 17, 2010 and July 29, 2011 and were representative of the genres listed.  Winners will be determined by online voting at scream.spike.com.
