Bellator MMA for iPad and iPhone Gives Fans a New Way to Experience MMA 

New York, NY – February 28, 2013 – Spike TV today launched “Bellator MMA” for iPad and iPhone, giving fans the chance to experience mixed martial arts like never before with the world’s most advanced co-viewing MMA app.

The app is available on the App Store today free on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at www.AppStore.com/BellatorMMA.

When the Bellator cage door closes and the gloves touch, the innovative app works in concert with the live Spike broadcast to supply fans with real-time fight data only available through the app.  Developed from the ground up to make watching live fights more immersive, viewers will have the unique ability to track expansive fighter analytics and participate in the on-air broadcast.  As “The 4th Judge,” fans can score rounds with the help of real-time statistics powered by CompuStrike, a service providing data in 26 categories from arm strikes to submission attempts.

(“The 4th Judge” voting will not factor in the actual judges’ decisions).

The app features historical statistics for every fighter, pre-fight fan picks, and “Favorite Fight of the Night” polling, which will be sharable via social networks. The Bellator MMA app also gives fans the opportunity to watch exclusive videos, and dig deep into fighter biographies.  “Bellator MMA” airs live on Spike TV Thursday nights at 10:00pm ET/PT from venues all across North America, featuring many of the world’s best mixed martial arts fighters.

 New Spike Series Showcases the Quest of 32 Fighters in Pursuit of a Slot  In a Bellator MMA Tournament

New York, NY, February 5, 2013 – Spike TV and Bellator MMA have gathered together some of the biggest names in the sport of mixed martial arts to serve as coaches and trainers for the new reality series, “Fight Master: Bellator MMA,” premiering this summer.  Randy Couture, Greg Jackson, Frank Shamrock, and Joe Warren will helm four separate fight camps for 32 up-and-coming fighters looking to fight their way into the Bellator tournament and a $100,000 cash prize.

The announcement was made today at a press conference in Los Angeles by Spike President Kevin Kay and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney.

The 32 fighters, competing for a spot in the welterweight (170lb) tournament in the Fall of 2013, will live and train together in four camps led by the aforementioned legendary coaches.  This series is much more than just a tournament, as it will capture the reality of the competitors and the grueling training regimen it takes to become a world-class MMA fighter.

The concept of “Fight Master: Bellator MMA” is unprecedented in that the fighters control their own destiny.  They will choose which camp to train with and which opponent they want to fight next.  The premiere will feature 8 qualifying fights with each subsequent episode showcasing at least one fight.  The finale will be telecast live on Spike with the winner moving on to an upcoming tournament.  Bellator announcer Jimmy Smith will serve as host.

“As the fighters’ control their own destiny, they will need to utilize strategy in and out of the cage if they want to succeed and advance each week,” said Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV.  “The stakes are high and the wrong decision, whether it is picking an opponent you don’t match up well against or a coach and fight camp that you don’t work well with, can mean all the difference.”

The series will delve into the fighters’ personal stories for a glimpse into the often arduous journey that led them to “Fight Master.”  Viewers will get to know the man behind the fighter, and follow them on their quest for victory.  These determined contestants come from all parts of the country with a wide variety of ethnic and economic backgrounds.  However, they all share the same goal – to learn from the sport’s finest trainers and earn a spot in the Bellator tournament.

Spike TV will telecast 10 one-hour episodes of “Fight Master: Bellator MMA.” Production begins in early February in Louisiana.  Two of television’s most acclaimed producers, eight-time Emmy® Award winner Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri of Profiles Television Productions, the visionaries behind “The Amazing Race,” serve as Executive Producers.  Andrea Richter serves as Executive Producer as well and Levy and Tim Duffy, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Spike TV, will oversee the project for the network.

Entire Roster of Fighters Revealed and Available for Play in Los Angeles Next Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. – May 30, 2012 – Players eager to step into the cage and test out their virtual MMA skills will get their chance next week when 345 Games showcases their new arcade style video game, Bellator: MMA Onslaught during the E3 Expo in Los Angeles, June 5-7.  In advance of the event, 345 Games has unveiled its roster of world-class fighters, all of whom will be playable at E3 2012 in Concourse Hall Booth #8505.

Based on Bellator Fighting Championships, Bellator: MMA Onslaught is a new breed of arcade-style fighting game that combines the quick tempo of actual combat with cerebral strategy found in real life MMA. Players are able to replicate the most electrifying moves through a straightforward pick-up-and-play control scheme which transitions seamlessly from striking to the ground fighting.

345 Games collaborated closely with Bellator Fighting Championships to create Bellator: MMA Onslaught, ensuring the arcade style gaming experience mirrors the organization’s format, styles, graphics and music.

“We have worked closely with 345 Games to deliver an authentic Bellator experience and we are developing a variety of ways to integrate live Bellator events with our game in the coming seasons. ” Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney said.

The game will also feature a robust fighter creation and customization engine with hundreds of individual moves that players can mix and match after choosing a base style. As players level up their fighter, they will earn the ability to buy and select new skills and moves, which they can then invest to augment their abilities in striking, ground, throws, defense and fitness.

The thought is that players will take their specialized fighter online where they can compete in player-versus-player ranked fights to secure their place atop of the “Onslaught Leader Board” and earn the chance to be immortalized in upcoming Bellator events live on-air.

The game will release on the Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade and Sony PlayStation Network platforms and will be available for download in summer 2012 for $15. “We made a conscious decision to select an optimal fighting game platform that had an endemic online player base and that would enable us to continuously service the game either through improvements in existing gameplay or through additional features, such as new moves, clothing options, venues, and weight classes,” said Dan Yang, General Manager of 345 Games. The publisher plans to be listening closely to the players through the games website, social network sites and game boards to decide the best ways to expand the game.

For those players who like to compete locally, players can take advantage of different gameplay modes including “Super Fight” mode, where gamers can choose their own fighter or pick one of Bellator’s established elite to play against a friend or CPU; “Create a Fighter” where players can modify their fighters looks, skill and moves as well as participate in training challenges and access the ‘Fight Lab’ to assign boosts; and “Championship Road”, where gamers can go up against the toughest Bellator fighters in feature fights and a single elimination tournaments inspired by Bellator’s Tournaments to earn a shot at the title.

 Former Light Heavyweight Champ to Fight for Bellator in 2013 And Join the Stars of TNA Wrestling This Summer

 New York, NY, May 10, 2012 – In an unprecedented move, one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts, “King Mo” Lawal, has signed a deal to compete in Spike TV’s two major sports properties, Bellator Fighting Championships and TNA’s IMPACT Wrestling. “King Mo” will join the stars of TNA this summer and resume his mixed martial arts career next year when Bellator Fighting Championships moves to Spike TV from its current television home, MTV2.  The deal was jointly announced today by Kevin Kay, President, Spike TV along with Bjorn Rebney, Chairman & CEO, Bellator Fighting Championships and Dixie Carter, President, TNA Entertainment.

“‘King Mo’ is an incredible athlete and a great addition to the Bellator family.  He immediately adds prominence and star-power to our light heavyweight division,” said Rebney.

“‘King Mo’ is the perfect athlete for this type of alliance.  He is the real deal in MMA, and his bold personality and world class wrestling accomplishments are unparalleled.  I’m confident he will have a major impact in both sports,” stated Carter.

Lawal (10-1-1) launched his mixed martial arts career in 2008, and after four straight wins, he faced off against his toughest challenge, renowned fighter Mark Kerr.  “King Mo” knocked out Kerr in the first round, and eight months later he defeated Gegard Mousasi in a Light Heavyweight world title fight.  Lawal also holds an impressive KO victory against multiple Brazilian jiu-jitsu world championship winner Roger Gracie in September 2011.

“This deal is a dream come true for me,” Lawal said. “Bjorn and Dixie have given me the opportunity to engage in my two great loves, mixed martial arts and professional wrestling, at the same time.  And, to have it all on Spike TV is really buttercream icing on a big ol’ cake – not that whipped cream stuff either!”

Lawal rose to grappling acclaim as a NCAA Division I All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State University in 2003 and a three-time U.S. National Champion (2005, 2006, and 2008) in the 84 kilogram division.  In 2007, as a member of the US National team, he brought home a gold medal at the Pan American Games and a silver medal at the World Cup.

A native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Lawal lives in San Jose, Calif. and trains with the prominent American Kickboxing Academy.
