SPIKE TV INKS SEASON FIVE OF “INK MASTER”

“Ink Master” Returns For A New Season Of 16 Episodes Slated for Fall 2014

 

New York, NY, March 31, 2014 –  On the heels of another strong ratings start for the new season of “Ink Master,” Spike TV has picked up a fifth season of the network’s hit original series. The new season will increase to 16 one-hour episodes and will debut Fall 2014. The announcement was made today by Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV.

Season four (through 5 episodes) of “Ink Master” is once again proving to be ratings driver for the network, delivering 1.72 million viewers, and has improved the timeslot in Adults 18-49 by 81% and Adults 18-34 by 115%.  The series is 49% male, demonstrating the network’s ongoing plan to deliver gender-balanced original hit series.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Original Media, the immensely creative and innovative team who produces ‘Ink Master,’ the defining series of tattoo culture,” said Levy. “The ever-increasing ratings for the series is a testament to the huge stakes and drama in each episode with the incredibly-talented and knowledgeable hosts including Dave Navarro, Chris Nunez, and Oliver Peck.”

“Ink Master” is hosted by music legend Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and judged by renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez and Oliver Peck.  Tattoo artists from around the country battle it out each week in permanent ink for a $100,000 cash prize, an editorial feature in Inked magazine and the bragging rights title of ‘Ink Master.’ The show is produced for Spike TV by Original Media (“Swamp People,” “Comic Book Men,” “BBQ Pitmasters,” “Grilled,” “Dual Survival,” and “NY Ink”) with Charlie Corwin, Daniel Laikind and Andrea Richter serving as Executive Producers. Network Greenlights 20 More Episodes of Network’s Highly Rated Series

 Starring Jon Taffer

New York, NY, March 21, 2014Spike TV has greenlit 20 more episodes of the network’s popular original series, “Bar Rescue” starring renowned bar and nightlife expert Jon Taffer.  From the producers of ABC’s “Extreme Weight Loss” and Syfy’s “Opposite Worlds,” the series follows Taffer as he utilizes his nearly three decades of experience in the restaurant, bar and nightclub business to help give failing establishments one last chance to transform themselves into profitable businesses.

The new season will debut on Spike TV this fall.

“Bar Rescue” is among Spike TV’s original series that have successfully managed to broaden the network’s audience base. A new batch of original episodes (part of season three) kicked off on Sunday, March 9 at 9:00pm ET/PT, and have averaged 1.8 million viewers and improved the timeslot by a staggering +173% with Adults 18-49 and +131% with total viewers.

In “Bar Rescue,” Taffer travels nationwide, targeting a different failing establishment in each episode.  His approach may ruffle feathers along the way, but Taffer pulls no punches and values bottom lines above hurt feelings.  Owners and employees he believes are standing in the way of success are urged to check their egos at the door while he employs a proven scientific approach to solving the problems befalling bars.

“Bar Rescue” is produced by Eyeworks USA and Executive Producers JD Roth, Todd A. Nelson, DJ Nurre, Tim Warren and Jon Taffer.

New York, NY, March 19, 2014 –  It’s one of the most anticipated films of 2014 and on the next episode of Spike TV’s hit reality-competition series “Ink Master,” mutants and their superpowers will be etched in permanent ink with an entire X-Men-themed episode.  Premiering on Tuesday, March 25 (10:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT), the episode will feature a special guest appearance by Hugh Jackman along with a sneak preview of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

In the episode entitled “X-Men’s Hugh Jackman,” the remaining 13 artists in the competition are tested on their skill of technical precision.  Exact lines, shading and small details can take a tattoo from being just average to a masterpiece.  This skill is especially important when tattooing portraits of people and well-known characters.

Opening with a Flash Challenge, the artists are charged with creating and tattooing an original design of an image that represents a specific superpower their Human Canvas wishes they had.    In the follow up Elimination Challenge, the artists tattoo X-Men superfans with the character of their choice.

Before voting in the final Elimination Tattoo takes place, both the artist and the X-Men superfans are treated to a sneak peek of the new X-Men movie “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” coming out on May 23 from Twentieth Century Fox.

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from the past, “X-Men: First Class,” in order to change a major historical event and fight in an epic battle that could save our future.

The artists and superfans are even more surprised when Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor Hugh Jackman, the only actor to have appeared in all six X-Men films comes out and joins “Ink Master” series host Dave Navarro and panel judges Chris Nunez and Oliver Peck to help select the winning design and artist in the Elimination Challenge.

“Ink Master” was Spike TV’s top rated and most watched original series in 2013.  The series features top tattoo artists from around the country battle it out for a $100,000 grand prize, an editorial feature in Inked magazine and the bragging rights title of ‘Ink Master.’  Each week “Ink Master” puts artist through a series of tattoo challenges that are not only designed to test the artists’ technical skills, but also their on-the-spot creativity, where they must create and execute an original tattoo by command on a ‘Human Canvas.’  Each episode focuses on a different and distinct style of tattooing  including realism, black and gray, geometric, neo-traditional, Asian and cover-up, among others.  The masterpieces these artists create will last a lifetime, but so will their mistakes.  The series is hosted by Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and he’s joined on the judging panel by renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez and Oliver Peck.
