SPIKE TV OPTIONS SCRIPT FOR RICHARD D. “SKIP” BRONSON’S BEST- SELLING BOOK “THE WAR AT THE SHORE”

Trigger Street Productions and Giant Pirates Entertainment

To Develop Special Event Series Chronicles The Epic Atlantic City Battle Between

Donald Trump and Steve Wynn

New York, NY, February 20, 2014 – Spike TV has joined forces with Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street Productions and Giant Pirates Entertainment to develop a script for an original special-event series based on the best-selling book “The War At The Shore” by Richard D. “Skip” Bronson. The book chronicles the high-stakes battle between Donald Trump and Steve Wynn over the future of one of America’s most popular vacation and gambling meccas, Atlantic City.

Dana Brunetti from Trigger Street Productions is the Executive Producer for “The War At The Shore.” Brunetti, who served as Producer for “The Social Network” and “Captain Phillips,” both nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Picture, is currently producing the highly-anticipated “50 Shades of Grey.”  He is also an Executive Producer on the critically-acclaimed series “House of Cards.”

Troy Searer (“Breaking Bonaduce,” “Obsessed”) and Ross Jacobson (“In A World,” “Big Sur”) from Giant Pirates Entertainment also serve as Executive Producers for “The War At The Shore.”

The script focuses on the epic five-year (1995-2000) battle between two of the most outspoken and dynamic businessmen of our time, Trump and Wynn, who fought a bare-knuckled brawl with billions of dollars on the line and the very future of the seaside resort community at stake.

Bronson, the author of “The War At The Shore,” is a renowned businessman and developer, who was Wynn’s point man in Atlantic City, as they tried to develop a new resort complex there against huge odds.  He reveals the inside story of this titanic rumble and presents a rare look at the world of casino development and the essential modern chapter in the history of America’s “Boardwalk Empire.” The book was published by Overlook Hardcover and distributed by Penguin.

Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV, will oversee the project.

Kevin Spacey is the founder of Trigger Street Productions, and Artistic Director of The Old Vic Theatre Company in London.  Films include “The Usual Suspects” (Academy Award, Best Supporting Actor),  “American Beauty” (Academy Award, Best Actor), “Swimming with Sharks,” “Se7en,” “LA Confidential,” “Glengarry Glen Ross,” “The Negotiator,” “K-Pax,” “The Shipping News,” “Superman Returns,” “Beyond the Sea,” “Shrink,” “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” “Casino Jack,” “Horrible Bosses” and “Margin Call.”

“Catch a Contractor” – Skip and Alison Bedell Biographies

February 13th, 2014 by SPIKE Press

Skip Bedell

Skip Bedell is a licensed Home Improvement Contractor. His love for building began at a very early age as he watched and learned carpentry skills from his grandfather and father, both master craftsman who had built some of Long Island’s earliest homes. In addition, the family lived on a marina they owned, Bedell’s Boat Yard, and Skip grew up watching his grandfather build everything from boats to furniture in the wood shop, and thus began his affinity for hand tools and the smell of fresh saw dust. With Skip being a quick study, he soon learned to build as a teenage apprentice and began working on hundreds of homes. It was these earliest jobs where he acquired his vast knowlege of the trades, working under master carpenters, licensed electricians, plumbers and masons.

During the 1980′s and early 1990′s, Skip worked in all aspects of home renovation while attending college, where he studied business, and eventually pursued a career in financial planning in the mid 1990′s. However, his love for construction kept calling to him and he eventually had to listen. He put down the pencil and picked up the hammer, returning to construction in the late 1990′s. In the early 2000′s, he obtained his license to be a Home Improvement Contractor, and began running his own business. It wasn’t long before his company had multiple crews working on homes; old and new, large and small.

Skip’s knowlegeable and friendly persona landed him roles in local television commercials for building products, e-learning modules, and a holiday gift segment on NBC’s Today show demonstrating tools with Vanessa Rae.

Skip continues to run his own home improvement business, Big Dog Building and Remodeling, Inc., specializing in all aspects of interior and exterior home remodeling. He particularly finds pleasure in building things where he can express his creative edge and make things from raw materials into things of beauty. He finds nothing more rewarding than being able to complete a homeowner’s dream and transform the unsightly into a work of art.

A New York native, Skip lives on Long Island with his wife, Alison, and their many pets. He also has a 16 year-old son, Jesse. When not working on other people’s homes, he enjoys renovating the home that he and Alison recently purchased, and is also a fitness enthusiast who enjoys time in the gym. Skip has also been an avid biker for the last 30 years, and enjoys long, scenic rides on his Harley.

Alison Bedell

Alison Bedell is a licensed Private Investigator who got her sleuthing experience while working as a Probation Officer; a career she began in 2007 that she continues in today. Some of the skills she acquired in that career which carry into her PI work include tracking absconders, record searches, surveillance, working undercover and apprehending subjects. While on the job, she has earned a Distinguished Pistol Expert bar, a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) recognition award for DWI arrests and a County Legislature’s Probation Officer of the Month award. Prior to her career in law enforcement, she worked in County Personnel for a number of years. Ultimately she decided that she wanted to serve the public by combining use of her Bachelors in Psychology and her love of law enforcement, where she can “correct and protect”.

A New York native, Alison resides on Long Island with her husband, Skip, and their many pets. When she isn’t investigating offenders, she enjoys being a biker chick riding on a Harley with Skip, playing with their cats and dogs, vegetable gardening and making her own jewelry.

CROOKED CONTRACTORS BEWARE!

ADAM CAROLLA SEEKS RETRIBUTION FOR

CHEATED HOMEOWNERS WHEN “CATCH A CONTRACTOR”

PREMIERES SUNDAY, MARCH 9 AT 10 PM ET/PT ON SPIKE TV

New York, NY, February 12, 2014 – Each year, millions of Americans set out to renovate their property in hopes of finally achieving their dream home.  Sadly, thousands of these unsuspecting homeowners instead become victims, duped and abandoned by the contractors they trusted their savings to and left with either unfinished or danger-laden, uninhabitable homes due to poor craftsmanship.  Host and master carpenter Adam Carolla and his team, consisting of no-nonsense, expert contractor Skip Bedell and his wife, private investigator Alison Bedell, are on a mission to track down these shady, evasive contractors and drag them back to the scene of the crime to face the music and fix the disasters they left behind.  Eleven half-hour episodes of “Catch A Contractor” debut starting Sunday, March 9 at 10PM ET/PT with two back-to-back new episodes on Spike TV.

Home improvement scams have consistently ranked in the Better Business Bureau’s top 10 consumer cons.  Carolla, who spent 10 years working in construction before his successful career in radio and television, takes this issue very personally.  As a passionate master carpenter who has built hundreds of homes including his own, he not only has a keen eye when it comes to identifying shoddy, inferior work, but loathes seeing trusting and naïve average citizens getting scammed by subpar contractors and left holding the proverbial bag.

Each episode follows Carolla, Skip and Alison, as they seek justice for wronged homeowners, whose construction nightmares range from the laughably incompetent to frighteningly hazardous homes that have been left completely torn apart.  Initially, Carolla and Skip assess the property in question and identify all the corners that were cut.  Alison then hunts down these unscrupulous builders through various investigative methods, a task not easily done as most have changed their contact information to avoid being found.  Once the contractor is located, he is artfully lured to a sting house by Alison with the promise of a new job, only to be taken by surprise and confronted by Carolla, Skip and the angry homeowners.  Carolla and Skip call the contractor out on everything that wasn’t done properly, sharing their extensive insight and knowledge of the craft.  The contractors are then given the chance to redeem themselves by fixing the mess they left behind – all while under Carolla and Skip’s watchful and critical eye.  Ultimately, homeowners are able to gain closure, as they not only are able to confront the culprit face-to-face, but are able to finally achieve the end results they paid for.

A renowned television, radio and internet personality with one of the most downloaded podcasts in the world, Carolla is the host of the wildly popular “The Adam Carolla Show” podcast.  Launching in February 2009, it became the most downloaded podcast of all time (according to the Guinness Book of World Records) in May 2011 with nearly 60 million downloads.  Carolla’s television credits include “The Adam Carolla Project,” “The Man Show,” “Loveline,” “Dancing With the Stars” and “Celebrity Apprentice.”  Additionally, Carolla is a New York Times best-selling author.  His two books, In 50 Years We’ll All Be Chicks…And Other Complaints From An Angry Middle-Aged White Guy (2010) and Not Taco Bell Material (2012), were published by Crown Archetype.

Adam Carolla is a versatile entertainer and entrepreneur. A year later, the podcast was named iTunes #1 Podcast Of 2009.  The show now receives more than five million downloads a month and has been featured in Fast Company, Entrepreneur, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. In 2010, following the immediate success of The Adam Carolla Podcast, Adam decided to launch an  online network  of  podcasts called,  Carolla Digital.  To  this  day,  Carolla Digital produces many of iTunes’ top podcast programming including The Adam and Dr. Drew Show, The Dr. Drew Podcast, Penn’s Sunday School with Penn Jillette, This Week with Larry Miller, Car Cast, Ace on the House, For Crying Out Loud and Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend.
