New York, NY, November 29, 2012 – The biggest night in gaming just got bigger.  Spike TV’s “VGA TEN” (#VGA), the network’s tenth annual live televised event to celebrate the best in video games,  will feature appearances by returning hosts, Snoop Lion and Zachary Levi and a special video cameo from Neil Patrick Harris.  Presenters will include Jessica Alba, Marlon Wayans, Adam Scott and Norman Reedus and Steven Yeun from “The Walking Dead,” among others.  Gustavo Santaolalla is scheduled for a live musical performance while Wolfgang Gartner will perform as the House DJ throughout the entire show.  “VGA TEN” will premiere LIVE from Sony Picture Studios in Culver City, CA on Friday, December 7 at 9:00 PM ET/6:00 PM PT on Spike TV.  Additionally, the show will simulcast on MTV 2, MTV Tr3s, Xbox LIVE, Spike.com and GameTrailers.com.

Spike TV and Entertainment Weekly have partnered to create the first-ever “Entertainment Weekly and Spike VGA Best Game of the Decade” award.  The EW staff revealed the nominees in its “Entertainment Weekly and Spike VGA Top Ten Games of the Decade” feature which is featured on EW.com and in the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly.  Starting today, fans can vote for their favorite game on EW.com/VGA and the winner will be unveiled live during the awards show on December 7.

Nominees for “Entertainment Weekly and Spike VGA Best Game of the Decade” include “Batman: Arkham City” (Warner Bros. Interactive), “BioShock” (2K Games), “Half-Life 2” (Valve), “Mass Effect 2” (Electronic Arts), “Portal” (Valve), “Red Dead Redemption” (Rockstar Games), “Shadow of the Colossus” (Sony Computer Entertainment), “The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker” (Nintendo), “Wii Sports” (Nintendo) and “World of Warcraft” (Blizzard Entertainment).

“VGA TEN” will also feature highly anticipated world premieres from “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2” (Konami), “BioShock Infinite” (2K Games), “Tomb Raider” (Square Enix), “Assassin’s Creed III: The Tyranny of King Washington” (Ubisoft), “Halo 4: Spartan Ops” (Microsoft Studios) and more.

Previously announced talent includes host Samuel L. Jackson and musical performances by Linkin Park and Tenacious D.  Game exclusives previously announced include Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us,” Epic Games’ “Gears of War: Judgment” and Obsidian Entertainment’s “South Park: The Stick of Truth.”

Spike TV and Microsoft have also teamed up to broadcast the 2012 Video Game Awards to Xbox LIVE users in the United States and additional countries this December.  Airing alongside the live broadcast, the VGAs will showcase groundbreaking interactivity that lets users “play” the show as it happens live through the U.S. Xbox LIVE stream.  The Xbox LIVE audience will see responses to poll questions being tabulated in real time on screen and users with Xbox Smartglass will get a unique second-screen experience that updates live alongside the show content.

House DJ, Wolfgang Gartner, will release a new single during the week of the VGAs on Ultra Records, called “Wolfgang Gartner & Tom Staar – Evil Lurks.” Gartner also launches the beginning of his radio show, “Kindergarten Radio,” next week on the “Evolution” station on I Heart Radio.  “Kindergarten Radio” will air every Wednesday, 9PM-11PM EST.

New York, NY, November 15, 2012 – Spike TV today announced the nominees of “VGA TEN” (#VGA) – the network’s tenth annual live televised event to celebrate the best in video games.  “VGA TEN,” hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, will feature exclusive world premieres as well as musical performances by Linkin Park and Tenacious D.  The interactive multiplatform special will premiere LIVE from Sony Picture Studios in Culver City, CA on Friday, December 7 at 9:00 PM ET/6:00 PM PT on Spike TV.  Additionally, “VGA TEN” will simulcast on MTV 2, MTV Tr3s, Xbox LIVE, Spike.com and GameTrailers.com.

Spike TV and Microsoft also unveiled plans to broadcast the 2012 Video Game Awards to Xbox LIVE users in multiple countries this December.  Fans will be able to view the “VGA’s” on Xbox consoles in the United States and additional countries to be confirmed at a later date.* The show will also be streamed internationally on Spike.com and GameTrailers.com.

Airing alongside the tenth anniversary television broadcast, the U.S. Xbox LIVE stream of the VGAs will showcase groundbreaking interactivity that lets users “play” the show as it happens live in Los Angeles.  Responses to poll questions will be tabulated in real time on screen for the Xbox LIVE audience and users with Xbox Smartglass will get a unique second-screen experience that updates in real time alongside the show content.

Also revealed today, Grammy Award-winning recording artists Linkin Park will perform a show-stopping rendition of “Castle of Glass,” from their album “Living Things.”  “Castle of Glass” is also nominated for “Best Song in a Game” for EA’s “Medal of Honor: Warfighter.”  Tenacious D will also return to the VGAs with a live performance of “Rize of the Fenix.”  This will mark the band’s second VGA performance to date.

Exclusive world premieres debuting at “VGA TEN” include Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us,”  Epic Games’ “Gears of War: Judgment” and Obsidian Entertainment’s “South Park: The Stick of Truth,” with additional exclusive World Premieres to be announced in the weeks to come. “You will freak out at this year’s short films,” said Burnett, who then added, “Can you say, ‘Sam Jackson Mode?’”

Leading “VGA TEN,” with seven nominations each are “Borderlands 2″ (2K Games/Gearbox Software), “Halo 4″ (Microsoft Studios/343 Industries) and “Journey” (Sony Computer Entertainment/thatgamecompany).  Ubisoft’s “Assassin’s Creed III,” is not far behind with six nominations while Bethesda Softworks’ “Dishonored,” EA’s “Mass Effect 3,” and  Telltale Games’ “The Walking Dead: The Game” all have five nominations each.

Nominees for Spike TV’s “VGA TEN” were determined by the VGA Advisory Council, made up of a group of some of the most well-respected video game journalists from media outlets such as Entertainment Weekly, Game Informer, Joystiq, Kotaku, Polygon, IGN, GameTrailers, Gamespot, Wired.com, USA Today and Associated Press.

Network Also Announces A Second Season For “World’s Worst Tenants”

New York, NY –November 13, 2012Spike TV has ordered 10-episodes of a new, one-hour original series “Tattoo Rescue.” The show follows renowned tattoo expert Joey Germinario (aka “Joey Tattoo”) and his team of experts as they travel the country transforming failing tattoo studios into profitable ventures.

“Tattoo Rescue” is produced by Charlie Corwin’s Original Media. Vem Miller’s Sweatshop Media also serves as executive producer. The series is scheduled to debut next summer.

At one time, they were the symbol of the culture’s dark underbelly, but now tattoos have gone mainstream with an industry gross of well over $2.3 billion. Despite the fact that more Americans than ever crave permanent ink to wear like a badge of honor, every day countless tattoo shops go out of business, many falling to the stereotypes of being dark, inhospitable and full of unsavory characters.

Joey Tattoo, a native of Hoboken N.J. will use his 22 years of experience in the tattoo business and his larger-than-life personality to rescue these establishments from financial ruin before it’s too late. His knowledge of the tattoo industry is well-known in his home state of New Jersey where he has personally guided a bevy of shops into economic success.

In “Tattoo Rescue,” Joey will often have to deal with belligerent owners, obstinate tattoo artists and shops with massive health code violations in his seemingly impossible weekly quest.

Also, Spike TV will once again beat down the door of the most despicable, outrageous, dangerous and insane tenants with a second season of the original series, “World’s Worst Tenants.” The premiere season of “World’s Worst Tenants,” (airing June-August), averaged a robust 1 million viewers and improved the timeslot in Men 25-34 by 96% and Persons 18-34 by 114%.

The half-hour series follows Todd Howard, along with his team of eviction specialists, business partner Rick Moore and wife Randye, as they forcibly remove problematic tenants from any of the residential, commercial and retail units in which they manage. Howard and his team will take viewers behind closed doors into the most heated, high-stakes disputes between landlords and their tenants. Each mission documents the process and procedure that allows this no-holds-barred team to operate within legal guidelines to resolve each case on behalf of their clients.

“World’s Worst Tenants” is produced by Barry Poznick and John Stevens of Zoo Productions.
