 LOS ANGELES, October 27, 2011 – Spike TV has named Alex Eastburg vice president, original series, it was announced today by Sharon Levy, executive vice president, original series and animation.   Eastburg is based in the network’s California offices and comes to Spike TV from his previous jaunt as co-executive producer of “Car Lot Cowboy.” 

In this newly created position, Eastburg will report to Tim Duffy, senior vice president of original series and be responsible for overseeing development of the network’s non-scripted series.

“We’re thrilled to add Alex’s talents to our team,” said Levy.  “We have worked extensively with him on a number of projects and we’ve always felt his vision and energy lines up perfectly with our Spike goals.  We look forward to having him play an instrumental part in developing programming that resonates with our audience.”    

Eastburg joins the Spike team with extensive years of experience under his belt on the production side, most recently serving as co-executive producer on “Car Lot Cowboy.”  He has also served as co-executive producer on two seasons of the critically-acclaimed Spike TV series “DEA” from Al Roker Entertaiment, the TLC hit “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” and Tru TV’s “Tiger Team.”  Other projects of which Eastburg played a producer role include Spike TV’s “Scrappers” and “Surviving Disaster,” HD Net’s “Geek to Freak with Dennis Rodman” and several Discovery Channel series, including “Dirty Jobs,” “American Chopper” and “American Hot Rod.”  Eastburg also wrote and produced the short film, “I Am Stamos,” which won both the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Gen Art Film Festival and the San Diego Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival Award for Best Humor/Parody Film.  Born and raised in Vernon Hills, IL, Eastburg graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelors Degree in Cinema/Television.  He has lived in the Los Angeles area for seventeen years.

Spike will also introduce “CES All Access Live,” which will offer tech fans more than 12 hours of 2012 CES coverage across multiple platforms – TV, online, mobile, social and more.  The live special will kick-off with five hours of live telecasts in HD from Las Vegas on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 and will be the first of this year’s Spike “All Access” Live Specials, which will also occur at two other events throughout the year. New York, NY, October 18, 2011 – Spike TV has ordered a fourth season of its hit original series, “1000 Ways to Die” from Original Productions, it was announced today by Sharon Levy, executive vice president, original series. The highly-rated original series, “1000 Ways to Die,” showcases some of the most outrageously true stories about those who succumbed to the grim reaper in the most unorthodox of ways.  The new season, consisting of 13 episodes, will premiere in March, 2012.

New York, NY, Saturday, October 15, 2011 – After a decade of thrilling audiences worldwide and nearly eight billion dollars in global box office receipts, Spike TV presented a moving tribute to the “Harry Potter” film franchise with the help of its eponymous star, Daniel Radcliffe, and Lord Voldemort himself, Ralph Fiennes at its “SCREAM Awards 2011.” Fittingly, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” led the way with six awards, with Radcliffe accepting the night’s top honor, “The Ultimate SCREAM,” on the film’s behalf via remote surrounded by thousands of “Harry Potter” fans in New York City.  The star-studded tribute to all things fantasy, sci-fi, comic book and horror taped at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and premieres on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 18 (9:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT) with simulcasts on VH1 and VH1 Classic.

Perhaps the most anticipated sequel of all time, the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s epic “Batman” trilogy, “The Dark Knight Rises” won the award for “Most Anticipated Movie” with its stars Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt on hand to accept.

The godfather of science fiction, George Lucas, enthralled those in attendance with a surprise appearance as part of a tribute to Darth Vader as the character was bestowed with the Ultimate Villain honor.  Screen legend Paul Reubens emerged on stage in character as Pee-wee Herman riding the famed bicycle from “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” as he accepted the Visionary Award.

Nicolas Cage made a pyrotechnic filled entrance in receiving the Maverick Award before presenting an exclusive world premiere clip of “Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance,” while “Iron Man” himself Robert Downey Jr. accepted the Hero Award and presented never before seen footage of “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”

JON SLUSSER NAMED TO THE NEWLY CREATED POSITION OF SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, SPORTS AND MULTI-PLATFORM PROGRAMMING, SPIKE TV

New York, NY, October 11, 2011 – Jon Slusser has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president, sports and multi-platform programming, Spike TV, it was announced today by Kevin Kay, president, Spike TV, to whom he will report.

Based in Los Angeles, Slusser will be charged with creating live, multi-platform, socially driven events with convergent opportunities for Spike TV’s expanding male audience.  His focus will be on identifying sports and events that are a strategic fit for the brand. Among these will be continuing the network’s position as the recognized television home of mixed martial arts.  Spike.com is currently streaming weekly Bellator Fighting Championship preliminary bouts.  Spike TV’s extensive plans for airing live mixed martial arts will be announced in the near future.

Slusser is a proven brand builder who has left an indelible mark in every step of his career.  He previously served as senior vice president of Spike Digital Entertainment, a group which he helped create that includes Spike.com, GameTrailers.com, UltimateFighter.com and GameTrailers TV – a weekly TV show on Spike TV where he also served as executive producer.  Spike Digital Entertainment currently has an audience of over 20 million people per month and includes websites, TV shows, mobile platforms and various tablet apps.  Slusser joined MTV Networks in 2006 when the company he founded, GameTrailers.com, a video website dedicated to video games, was acquired by Viacom.

After graduating from the University of Southern California in marketing and finance, Slusser worked for the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers in public relations, finance and special business projects.  In 1997, he co-founded Hornet Inc, a sports production company working with over 50 professional sports teams to create in-game entertainment programming and broadcast design.  Hornet is currently an award winning full service production and design company that works with a roster of leading artists and directors to create computer animation, motion graphics and live-action film.
