“DIAMOND DIVERS”

New York, NY – September 27, 2011 – As Spike TV continues to fortify its primetime lineup with distinctive original series, the network announces the pick-up of 10 episodes of the original series, “Diamond Divers,” featuring a crew of rugged divers and sailors from Washington state who head to South Africa in search of incredible fortune under the sea. The announcement was made today by Sharon Levy, executive vice president, original series, Spike TV.

“Diamond Divers” is produced by Studio Lambert (“Undercover Boss” and “The Pitch”). Eli Holzman serves as executive producer along with Stephen Lambert, CEO, Studio Lambert; Duke Straub, Colt Straub and Royal Malloy of American Chainsaws; and Liz Bronstein, president, The Lizard Trading Company. Chris Rantamaki, vice president, original series, Spike TV, will oversee the project for the network.

“Diamond Divers” follows an intrepid nautical crew from Washington state that travels to the infamous Skeleton Coast off the dangerous coast of South Africa, renowned for shipwrecks, to mine for diamonds. The enterprising crew is contracted by the international company Panda Marine, a diamond mining and exploration company specializing in marine mining.

Battling some of the roughest waters on earth with looming danger of sharks, poachers, and unpredictable weather, the crew will literally be risking life and limb with every voyage to find treasure. Fortunately, the experienced captain and crew are well-equipped for the daunting mission. Cinematically shot, the show will chronicle all the immense danger the men will face in securing some of the untold riches along with the drama that unfolds between the various crew members.

The crew is led by Captain John, a big-game hunting, Harley-Davidson riding, hardscrabble, financially-ambitious boat captain. The other crew members include the captain’s son, Jason, a master diver with the occasional temper like his father; J.R. The Mechanic, an ex-Marine who can build anything; Marty, the high-energy, mohawked-expert diver who has problems with authority; and Doc, a former Navy medic, who at 59 is the oldest and probably the wildest of the group.

The show goes into production this fall and will air on Spike TV in 2012.

SPIKE TV PICKS UP A SECOND SEASON OF “BAR RESCUE” AFTER POSTING SERIES HIGH RATINGS THIS PAST SUNDAY NIGHT

New York, NY, September 14, 2011 – Spike TV will pick up a second season of 10 episodes of its original series, “Bar Rescue,” it was announced today by Sharon Levy, Spike TV’s executive vice president, original series.

“Bar Rescue,” one of Spike’s new, successful original series reaching a broader audience, has delivered a steady increase in ratings since launch earlier this summer.  In fact, this past Sunday’s telecast, against strong NFL competition, drew a series high of 1.3 million viewers, nearly doubling the premiere’s viewership of 742,000 on July 17.

“Bar Rescue” is hosted by Jon Taffer, one of the country’s top restaurant and bar consultants.  The show gives failing nightlife establishments one last chance at success.  Over the course of the series, one bar per week in cities all around the country will be reborn under the watchful eye of Taffer.  With each venue, Taffer delves into every business facet of running a bar, from creating a profitable drink/food menu, to music selection, to managing crowds as well as dealing with disgruntled employees.

“Bar Rescue” is a ten one-hour episode series produced by 3 Ball Productions/Eyeworks US and Executive Producers JD Roth and Todd A. Nelson (“The Biggest Loser,” “Master Chef,” “I Used to be Fat,” “Flying Wild Alaska”).   Tim Duffy, senior vice president of original programming for Spike TV, oversees “Bar Rescue” for the network.

Production for season 2 will begin this winter from venues all around the country and the new episodes will air in the summer of 2012.

New York, NY, September 7, 2011 – The reboot of one hallowed franchise and the thrilling final chapter of another are poised to lead the way at Spike TV’s “SCREAM Awards 2011” (#ScreamAwards), which will be taped on Saturday, October 15 at the Universal Lot in Los Angeles, CA.  “X-Men: First Class” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” each garnered 14 nominations and will vie for many of the night’s top honors during Spike TV’s sixth annual celebration of the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic book genres and the actors, creators, icons and pioneers who have influenced and shaped the industry over the past year.

This year’s show will also continue the tradition of featuring exclusive World Premieres from some of the most anticipated movies of 2012.  The two-hour event will premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 18 (9:00–11:00 PM, ET/PT).  Presenters will be announced shortly.

“SCREAM is a show for the most passionate fans on earth and beyond,” said Casey Patterson, executive producer of “SCREAM Awards 2011” and executive vice president of event production, talent development and studio relations for Spike TV.  “This is their night to celebrate the magical, mind bending and super heroic year in movies and the TV shows that they love.”

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, “X-Men: First Class” nabbed 14 nominations, among them “The Ultimate Scream,” “Best Director,” and “Best Fantasy Movie.”  Not to be outdone, the final installment in the saga of the Hogwarts Academy’s prized pupil, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” also was nominated 14 times, and is up for “The Ultimate Scream,” “Best Director” and “Best Scream-Play.”  Two other Marvel Comics franchises joined “X-Men:  First Class” to round out the top four, with “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Thor” receiving 11 and nine nominations, respectively.  Among television franchises, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “True Blood” each tallied seven nominations, with AMC’s “The Walking Dead” up for six “SCREAM” awards.

New York, NY –September 6, 2011 – Spike TV has promoted Diana Marseille to vice president, media planning it was announced today by Kevin Kay to whom she will report.  In her new role, Marseille will spearhead the strategic planning for all on-air promotion while creating programming events and media plans that effectuate audience awareness and support franchise development.

“Diana exudes a high level of positive energy and professionalism which resonates through her entire department,” said Kay.  “Her creativity and ingenuity in media planning has played a major role in the ratings success of our original series.”

Marseille began her career at Spike TV in February 2005 as a coordinator in the programming department and worked her way up the department ladder.  Most recently, she served as senior director of media planning where she was responsible for partnering with programming, marketing and advertising sales in the development of on-air promotional opportunities that increased viewer retention and quarterly ad revenue goals.

Prior to joining Spike TV, she served in the sales service department at ABC.  Marseille began her television career at MTV Networks as a marketing coordinator in 2002.  A resident of Jersey City, NJ, Marseille attended St. John’s University majoring in Communications.
