New York, NY, May 13, 2009 – Jesse James takes on the role of a modern-day daredevil in “Jesse James is a Dead Man,” a new, original weekly series on Spike TV premiering on Sunday, May 31 (10:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT). 

“Our goal was to create a new and distinctive series for Jesse that is unlike anything else on television,” said Sharon Levy, senior vice president of original series for Spike TV.  “In this series, viewers will get to experience one of the most fearless guys on the planet in an entirely new way, taking on death-defying physical challenges each week.”

Each episode follows James as he readies himself for a different death-defying challenge he has always wanted to face and beat.  Preparing for the risky challenge can often be as dangerous as the challenge itself as he endures a battery of tests to prepare.  With CGI effects, viewers get a taste of the enormity of the challenges, revealing the incredible stresses that man and machine will endure.

Some of the dangerous challenges Jesse will face include the harrowing, grueling and lawless off-road race better known as the Baja 500, hitting over 200 mph on a Nitro bike supercharged by ultra-combustible nitro-methane fuel and braving harsh Arctic weather conditions by riding a motorcycle in minus-60 degree temperature across the infamous Ice Highway that connects the small towns of Inuvik and Aklavik.  Jesse even places his life in the hands of his fans in a featured episode where he asks his fans to come up with the craziest, most dangerous stunts imaginable for James to undertake.

Spike.com will be offering users sneak peek at the premiere of “Jesse James is a Dead Man.”  In addition to featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and outtakes, the site features and a  free 3-D online racing game “Demolition Death Race.”  In this racing experience, gamers will try to endure a succession of deadly environments inspired by Spike TV’s new series “Jesse James Is A Dead Man” with two objectives in mind:  to win the checkered flag and to take out Jesse James by smashing, crashing and exploding to the finish line.  In succeeding, gamers will unlock not only new levels, but also acquire new virtual vehicles that have been customized by Jesse James himself to use in subsequent races, among them a custom Camaro and nitro bike.  Users will also unlock new weapons to use on the road in smiting their opponents, such as rockets.  Play the game at deathrace.spike.com.

Ten weekly one-hour episodes of “Jesse James is a Dead Man” are being produced for Spike TV by executive producers Jesse James and Hildie Katibah through his production company, Payupsucker Productions, in conjunction with executive producers John Brenkus and Mickey Stern of BASE Productions (“Sport Science,” “Crime 360”).  Kevin Lee also serves as executive producer.  Sharon Levy and Tim Duffy are executives in charge of production for Spike TV.

One of the night’s most distinguished honors will go to Halle Berry, an actress whose world-class talent matches her iconic beauty.  For her performance in “Monster’s Ball,” she won the Academy Award for Best Actress and, no stranger to accolades, Berry earned the Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG and NAACP Image Award for her extraordinary performance in HBO’s telefilm, “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge,” which she also produced. Berry is equally appealing to Spike guys for her action roles in the “X-Men” film franchise and as “Jinx” in the James Bond film “Die Another Day.”  Berry is beloved by the masses for her great acting and incredible sex appeal, and in recognition of this rare, killer combination, she will be the recipient of this year’s “Decade of Hotness Award.”

Another honor will be presented to a man who attended Cambridge University and used his intellect to create some of most avant garde comedy in the past decade, Sacha Baron Cohen.  His series “Da Ali G Show” on HBO was nominated for four Emmy Awards, and introduced to America his trio of alter egos:  wise cracking hoodlum Ali G, Kazakh field reporter Borat, and Austrian fashion reporter Brüno.  The first two inspired major motion pictures, the latter of which, “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan,” grossed over a quarter of a billion dollars at cinemas worldwide and is considered one of the most influential comedy films ever.  This July, he’ll complete the trilogy when he unleashes “Brüno” on the American public.  In honor of his trifecta, this year’s Spike “Guy’s Choice” Awards will bestow upon Baron Cohen one of the show’s highest honors, the prized “Funniest M.F.” Award.

Spike TV will also pay special tribute to a comedic pioneer whose contributions have led to the betterment of mankind:  the most influential voice in comedy today, writer, producer and director extraordinaire, Judd Apatow, will be presented with the “Mankind Award.”

New York, NY, May 6, 2009 – Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin and Spike TV are on a quest to give a football hopeful a shot at making the Dallas Cowboys roster in the new series “4th and Long.”  Premiering on Monday, May 18 (10:00-11:00pm ET/PT), Spike TV will chronicle the rigorous training, heated competition, and compelling moments among 12 talented unsigned football players – individuals who either blew their first shot at making the NFL, or never had one to begin with.  In a 10-week training camp, Irvin will offer his wealth of experience and guidance to mold them into NFL-caliber players.  Each week a different contestant will be cut, with the eventual victor heading to training camp with football’s legendary franchise, the Dallas Cowboys.  

The twelve players participating (6 wide receivers and 6 defensive backs) have impressive pedigrees including high-school All-Americans, Arena League MVP’s and starters at Division 1 college programs such as the University of Texas, University of Oklahoma, University of North Carolina and the University of Tennessee.  

Former NFL All-Pro Bill Bates will coach the defensive backs and former Dallas special-teams coach, Joe Avezzano will oversee the wide receivers. Guest stars on “4th and Long” include Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice, Tony Dorsett, and Roger Staubach along with current and former Cowboy greats Drew Pearson, Daryl Johnston, Jay Novacek, Nate Newton, Darren Woodson, Terence Newman, and Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson.  Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will also appear throughout the series.

The 12 elite athletes were selected during a nationwide search with the assistance of Scout.com to unearth the best overlooked, underrated and unsigned talent at the wide receiver and defensive back positions.

The 10-episode series was shot at various locations in Dallas, Texas, primarily at the stadium first called home by the Dallas Cowboys in 1960: the legendary Cotton Bowl where the athletes lived and trained.

Irvin, inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007, was a three-time Super Bowl champion and five-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys (1988-1999).  Irvin was a standout receiver for the University of Miami and a key component to their 1987 National Championship team.  A first round pick by Dallas (11th overall), Irvin was integral in restoring the Cowboys to national prominence and the moniker, “America’s Team.”  From 1991-1998, Irvin tallied more that 1000 yards in all but one season, and in 1995 set team single-season records for receptions and yards.  His many football accolades include being named to the NFL All-Decade Team (‘90’s), Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the Dallas Cowboy Ring of Honor.  

ABOUT BILL BATES
Bates, who played 15 seasons (1983-1997) for the Dallas Cowboys and appeared in three Super Bowls and a Pro Bowl, will coach the defensive backs.  Bates can empathize with the contestants on the show, as he went from an undrafted free agent and a long shot to make the roster to an extensive career with the Cowboys, including being named special-teams captain in 1990.      

ABOUT JOE AVEZZANO
Joe Avezzano, a three-time NFL special teams coach of the year with the Dallas Cowboys, will coach the wide receivers.  Avezzano, who played briefly in the AFL for the Boston Patriots in 1966, has a long coaching career including most notably serving as Dallas Cowboys special teams coach (1990-2002), head coach at Oregon St. (1980-1984), head coach for the Arena Football Dallas Desperados (2002-2003), offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee (1977-1979) and offensive line coach for the national champion University of Pittsburgh Panthers in 1976.
