After a long introduction from a Fox representative, James Cameron is taking the stage to talk a bit about his most recent magnum opus, Avatar. "I'm honored to have the opportunity to share this with the world first at Comic-Con," he said. This is definitely the biggest thing Comic-Con has to offer this year, so needless to say everyone is excited to get a first look at some 3-D footage from Avatar.

Hall H is packed to capacity as everyone crams into this gigantic room in anticipation of one of the biggest panels of this year's Comic-Con: the Iron Man 2 panel. Entertainment Weekly's panel featuring James Cameron and Peter Jackson begins with a funny introduction. The moderator notes that one of these filmmakers discovered Kate Winslet and the other made over a billion dollars trying to drown her. One got a realistic performance out of a CG spider, and one got a couple of realistic performances out of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Director Matthew Vaughn walks onstage first and introduces some clips from the first act. The first clip we see is very promising: a man attired in a superhero outfit spreads the wings of his costume, looks down at an encouraging crowd fifty stories below, jumps, and soars through the air -- then crashes head-first into a taxi cab and dies. The audience laughs...this is going to be a cool panel.

Robert Downey, Jr. takes the stage to a standing ovation. He says, "Holmes was the first superhero, he was an intellectual superhero, and he was also a western martial artist, I'm told. And probably one of the most recognizable images, names on earth, so much that people thought he was a real guy."

The director Ruben Fleischer, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and the awesome Woody Harrelson take the stage for the Zombieland after we get to see a brand new, never-before-seen trailer for the movie. The trailer's pretty great, too, so here's hoping it hits the web soon.

It's like a Beatles concert at the Twilight panel at Comic-Con, with more screaming female teens and preteens than I've heard since sixties archival footage of John Lennon. The stars discussed the transformation of their characters.

Jackie Earle Haley is talking with the filmmakers about getting the opportunity to play Freddy after getting to play Rorschach. The audience now gets to see an unreleased trailer from the film, which looks very promising. This is actually going to be a scary horror film with a real actor.

Mike Judge takes the stage to cheers and applause, and is then followed by Jason Bateman. The Extract panel is under way. Bateman says, "Hiiiiiii!" in his best effete voice. Mila Kunis, no stranger by now to Comic-Con, also takes the stage...and she's looking pretty good.

Before the panel even begins we're shown the first trailer for Legion, a movie about an angel (Paul Bettany) descending to earth to fight a demon. The trailer is pretty ridiculous -- think angels, explosions, spidery-demons in the bodies of humans, and a whole lot of creepiness. That's Legion.

We're shown the trailer to 9, which wasn't anything new. The director, Shane Acker, walks onstage and takes a seat. We're told that this is Acker's first feature film, and then the great Tim Burton takes the stage to cheering and applause.

The director and talent from The Book of Eli are answering questions right now about their film. The crowd is large and in charge, and the actors seem very happy to be here. Denzel Washington is making cracks left and right, and Gary Oldman just described himself, when naked, as a "bald chicken". This is a good panel.

Scarlett Johansson isn't actually dressed up as Black Widow, the character she plays in Iron Man 2, in this picture, but as her alter ego, Natasha Romanoff. Either way she's looking pretty good, and it's nice to get another look at a production still from Iron Man 2. For those of you who won't be at Comic-Con, enjoy. Doubtless there are more to come in the next few days. See the whole photo after the jump.
