What real doctor would go on Manswers with such a false claim? I am a chick with index fingers on both hands shorter than my ring finger. Time to make a correction to that episode. By the way, I'm so glad I am not the only one out there:)

This finger length research is connected to studies of maternal hormonal balance during the 3rd month of our prenatal lives. Mothers will have fluctuating hormonal balances between estrogen and testosterone depending on too many factors to mention, including things like too much stress in her life worrying about money, etc. So some of us will experience more testosterone in our mother's system, thus shorter index fingers, and others will be perfectly balanced, thus even length ring and index, and others will grow longer index fingers if mom is heavy into estrogen during that month. Blame it on mom's diet, lifestyle, etc. during pregnancy. No other month matters in finger length. (Moms produce testosterone, too, just in case you're under the misguided notion that testosterone belongs only to males.) The key is in the Ratio of T to E when pregnant. The theory is that if a girl is exposed to more testosterone than normal in utero, she'll have short index fingers and MAY be good in math. Not a bad thing! Boys exposed to a higher ratio of estrogen will have longer index fingers and MAY be talk show hosts or comedians and write great poetry. Not bad either! There's lots of discussion about this index finger topic on the internet, but like you saw above in the Manswers piece and how it exaggerated ridiculous claims, much of this may be hard to swallow.

Yeah no kidding! my index finger is like way-----------------------shorter than my ring finger. for a sec i was thinking my parents gave me a sex change when i was born but that didnt seem right because i have 2 other sisters-and why would my mom only want girls??? yeah spike you totally need to change that episode becuase no guys are going to think us girls with short index fingers are guys!!!! and we're NOT!!

That's not correct Manswers! My index is shorter than my ring finger. I would check to see if the chick in question has an adam apple. I don't know too many people that would opt for the surgery to shave off part of their adam's apple to appear more like a woman. Plus all of my girlfriends I know has a shorter index than ring finger. Other than that, I would check how muscular the chick is. Ask her if she works out, a lot. That might help, unless you come across a athletic chick.
