The Day Before

Writing and posting is the last thing I'm in the mood for tonight, but there are those out there reading who have been a big support to me for a long time. I'm doing this for them.

Wednesday June 18, 08 Stopped in the Warrior Training Center to catch a light work out. This is Ron and Mark. Mark is going to be working my corner.

Thursday June 19, 08 Thursday was a complete day off. Mark, Rob, and I decided to get out of the city and do a little off-roading up in the mountains. I want to kind of get things off my mind for a little while.

This is one of my favorite trails. It goes over the range and drops into the west end of Red Rock Canyon.

Later that afternoon, we stopped by the Warrior Training Center to pick up box of Warrior shirts that was waiting on me.

"Believe in the Power of One" is not about me, but it is. It's not an ego thing, it's not an arrogance thing, it's not a look at me, worship me thing. It has nothing to do with that. It's a statement to all of belief, the belief that each of us, each man, each woman, each individual, has the power to change the world, and it is a reminder to take responsibility for that power, and to make use of it. How will you choose to use your power? How will you choose to change the world?

Friday June 20, 08

We weigh in when we check in on Tuesday. We weigh again on Friday morning. It's another safety measure. They want to make sure the guys are fairly close to weight.

11:00 am, I was about 12 pounds over. They were a little concerned.

Out in front of the Palms. I'm about to head back to the west side of town to the apt to rest a little before starting the cut.

At the LVAC(Las Vegas Athletic Club) Started with a dry sauna to get the sweat going, then put on the plastics, and sweatsuit over. It was then up the cardio area to do run on the treadmill and do the hand

FIGHT WEEK, FEELING GOOD!!!

It's finally fight week. I'm ready to go. I had to go into the Palms today to check in at the UFC office, sign papers and posters, get my itinerary, and check in my rooms...

This is Burt. I'm not sure what his official position is with the UFC, but he is the guy that keeps the fighters in line, and gets things done. He checks our weight when we arrive at the venue to make sure we are within a reasonable distance from our fight weight. It's a safety measure to make sure there are no last minute surprises at the weigh-ins.

Signing in with Greg. He handles medicals, cornerman licensing, etc. Another guy that gets things done.

This poor guy. I have a tendency to lose my temper when it comes to dealing with red tape and beaucracy. I was very upset about the $500 deposit required to check into my rooms. And they don't even tell you how much it's going to be. The just ask for a credit card for incidentals on the room, and then hit you with a $500 hold. The funds are no longer available to you, checks you've written bounce, overdraft fees are charged by you bank, it can cause all kinds of problems, and there's nothing you can do about it. No Warning!!! I felt like pulling the guy over the counter and throttling him!!!

But it's not his fault.

Later that afternoon, I dropped in to hit a work out at the Warrior Training Center(6670 S. Tenaya Way Las Vegas, NV 89113). Phil Baroni was there today, and we went a few rounds. That might surprise some readers here, due to the fact that Phil and I fought each other twice before in the UFC. Some might assume that if you fight someone, there will always be tension there, that you dislike each other, and might not be able to even be in the same room with one another. It's not like that at all though. Most fighters would laugh at those
