Forrest Griffin Lands on Newsstands

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin changed the game of Mixed Martial Arts when he appeared on season one of The Ultimate Fighter. Now the new champion is taking that success to the newsstands by appearing on the October cover of Men's Fitness, which is on sale now. Even though the low-key Griffin typically does not like doing "media stuff," the champ opens up with some choice info about recent fights and his previous career as a police officer. Evan Tanner's Lost Blogs

UFC fighter Evan Tanner was writing an exclusive blog for Spike.com leading up to his disappearance and subsequent death the weekend of September 5. Unbeknownst to the site, Tanner had written two blog entries that he never published just before leaving for his trip. They were later discovered in the site’s publishing tools, and after consulting with Tanner’s family, it was decided that the blogs should be published for his fans.

A Tribute to Evan Tanner

In 1999 at UFC 18 Evan Tanner made his UFC debut in the light heavyweight division and secured a victory against Darrel Gholar with a rear naked choke. Tanner was not a newcomer to the MMA world at this point as he had already stacked up impressive wins against Heath Herring, Paul Buentello and Ikuhisa Minowa in the Pancrase and USWF organizations.

MMA fighter and former UFC champion Evan Tanner has passed away, according to an official statement from the UFC and individuals close to the fighter. Tanner left for a solo desert camping trip last Wednesday in the Clapp Springs area of the Palo Verde mountains in California. Friends became concerned when they hadn’t heard from Tanner, and called authorities last Friday. Evan had chronicled the preparation for his trip here on Spike.com in his exclusive blog.
