Summer is a time to watch the movies with the most bloated budgets, the biggest stars, and the most expensive, state-of-the-art effects. Summer is, in short, a time for the blockbusters to be hauled out by each studio and put on display for the masses. It’s when you are able to get the biggest bang for your buck, at least in terms of the raw dollar amount that’s being projected on the screen. Seeing as this summer has been all about the mega-blockbuster, here are Spike’s picks for the top 10 summer movies of all time.

For all of you who missed Goal! part one, rest assured: we now have the much-awaited Goal! II, a sequel that follows the life of Santiago, a guy who grew up in east Los Angeles and realizes his dream of becoming a professional soccer player. As an added bonus many real life soccer players (yes, David Beckham) star in the film. So in the event that you're an American and know nothing about soccer, this is the film for you. A new documentary straight out of Sundance about the world water crisis reveals the shady industry of bottled water, and alerts us to the day when access to water will be a privelege, not a right. The film, Flow, explores the diminishing reserves of fresh water in the world, and how that's fuelled businesses that take advantage of this and sell our water back to us. Quantum Of Solace Exclusive Actor Profile

It's time to start boning up on trivia about the upcoming Bond film, Quantum Of Solace. But before we do that, I just want to say that I really wish I could hold a poll to see how many people have the slightest clue what exactly a quantum of solace would be. How small is a single quanta of solace? How forlorn does one feel with each quanta of solace he is exposed to? Right, back to our actor. The second hand man to one of the henchmen in this film is played by Anatole Taubman, and he talks a bit about what it was like on set of Solace. Check out the featurette after the jump.

Jason Statham Transports Himself with Fast Cars and Hard Punches

The people who put the trailer together for Transporter 3 have accomplished a truly impressive feat: instead of giving the entire movie away, absolutely no information is conveyed. In fact, after watching this trailer three times I have no idea what happens in this film, other than that Jason Statham will do what he seems to do 99% of the time: punch, kick, and fight in creative ways, and drive nice cars really fast and really dangerously. But it's still a pretty cool trailer to watch, if only for the action. Check it out after the jump.

Vin Diesel's Furious Return

It seems like Vin Diesel kind of disappeared into thin air for a couple of years, but now all of a sudden he's back and as muscled and shaved as ever. In what looks like will be an exciting addition to the franchise, Fast and Furious is set to come out some time in 2009. This trailer is awesome, I think, not only because of the really great action sequences, but because it actually gives you almost an entire scene full of stunt driving -- and it's worth its weight in exhaust. It appears America will never recover from the ignominy of the Nixon presidency, and we are fated to replay it again, and again, and again in books, specials and movies. And here we go again! Ron Howard's new film Frost/Nixon sports an impressive cast with actors like Frank Langella, Michael Sheen and Sam Rockwell, and will in all likelihood be a very entertaining film. Transforming the Pain into Motivation

The recent injuries Shia LaBeouf sustained in a car accident are apparently being put to good use in the new Transformers film. A picture has surfaced on The Movie Blog that shows LaBeouf sporting some heavy-duty road rash. It's highly likely that a good deal of his wounds in the picture are make-up enhanced (in fact, I'm betting that most of them are make-up effects), but to the extent that any of his injuries are real and he's using them in the film, more power to him. It's about time actors started getting a little banged up and using it for motivation in their action films. How are they supposed to portray people getting maimed and scarred and beat down if they don't play the pain game every once in awhile? Way to own it, Shia. Hit the jump to see the full picture.

In a direct appeal to the very lowest common denominator, the directorial precociousness of Paul W.S. Anderson is at work again in Death Race, which is in theaters today. Starring Jason Statham, Death Race takes place in the future, at which point it apparently becomes common sense to take the nation's most dangerous criminals, arrange them in groups, and provide them with transportation and heavy artillery. But Death Race looks like it accomplishes what it sets out to do, which is to take us on an adrenaline-infused ride full of crashing cars and things blowing up. Doing Damage in the '80s

The Informers follows rock stars, movie executives and even a vampire as they all pursue their debauched dreams. This flick should be a nice little blast to the past for everyone who misses the '80s and wants to know what all that cocaine and sex really amounted to (the '90s).
