TUF Recap: "He's Got Cabones"

image

That might be the greatest episode of The Ultimate Fighter. Mind you, I’ve watched every TUF episode since season one and don’t bother sending your emails. This topped it. Between the hype for the Jeremy May-Matt Brown fight, the fight itself, a second surprisingly good fight and the topper of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson goofing off again; hands down BEST-EPISODE-EVER!

To begin with, I was really pulling for May to shock the television viewing audience and turn on this killer fight personality and take out Matt Brown. But between his lack of training cause of bum knee, taking ‘shots’, and then poor loser Matt Riddle snitching out his injured knee to HIS OPPONENT, it just didn’t look good. To his credit he took that ass whopping like man, and at one point when he took Brown down, I thought he might finish him as Brown had this look of shock and, dare I say, fear that May might finish him. Now the debate begins...was his lack of experience and being outclassed by Brown caused the defeat, or, as Rampage noted, his lack of cardio and running out of gas left him open for that devastating Cro Cop-esque high kick? I believe with experience and discipline, May could be a beast.

Surprisingly, Rampage took this loss relatively well and moved right onto prepping Daniel Cramer. Have to agree with Rampage, he is too pretty to be a fighter. But the boy got a good stand-up game. He was just relentless in going after Luke Zachrich, as from the start of the fight he was all over him. Mad props out to Zachrich, as the man can take a punch and put on a great fight but ultimately he was just outclassed.

Glad to see Rampage is just so humble in victory. Who am I kidding, how fun was it to watch him go crazy out in the parking lot, ready to go to club and breaking out his control dance? I know the TUF is supposed to be about this up and coming fighters, but damn if Rampage doesn't make this show even more enjoyable. With Gerald Harris, Patrick Schultz, and the Beast CB Dollaway for Team Rampage and Nick Klein, Cale Yarborough, and Amir Sadollah left on Team Forrest, I don’t see Rampage losing control. But it could come down to match-up and, with the exception of Schultz, they all favor Team Rampage.
