The Ultimate Fighter

The Ultimate Finale - Previews and Predictions

The lightweight fight has a few interesting points to look at. Jason Dent revealed a few things in his semi-final fight. He showed us that he's not the timid and reserved fighter we've seen so far. He showed us he has a lot of heart and could someday be a great fighter. But he also showed us he has a lot of practice left do to before he can be a serious threat in the UFC. For this reason, I'm glad he won't be the next Ultimate Fighter, but I hope he continues to work and we see him again someday.

Ross Pearson and Andre Winner, on the other hand, are ready for the UFC today and ought to put on a pretty good show. Winner has a good takedown defense but he probably won't need it as there's little chance that either of these guys will look to take this fight to the ground.

They both have power, so the possibility of a knockout is always there, but they seem to focus their energy on measured and planned attacks, which means we're likely to see a long fight with plenty of blood and sweat. Does this remind anyone of another Finale?

In the last episode of The Ultimate Fighter, Andre Winner admitted that he sucks his thumb, which is pretty f'ing weird, but he's no baby in the cage and Pearson will have his hands full. Winner takes the technical edge on the feet and in the remote chance that this goes to the matt, he's actually got pretty decent submissions, but Pearson has more tattoos. Seriously though, Pearson is a tough S.O.B., he's stronger than Winner, and he's got that intangible factor that's difficult to measure. He'd be well-advised to make this a clinch battle and keep Winner against the cage, however that's not how I see this going; even if he attempts to clinch-up, Winner will be able to keep him off with his crisp jabs. No, I see these two squaring off in the middle of the Octagon for a three-round war, which Winner will take in a unanimous decision.

Either way, I'm genuinely excited for this match-up. It's a beautiful display of what The Ultimate Fighter has done -- and will continue to do -- for this sport. There were no lucky breaks, no bad decisions. The two best lightweights are in the Finale, and either of these fighters would be interesting additions to the lightweight division.

Stay tuned for next Wednesday's show when James Wilks and Frank Lester will fight for the chance to take on Damarques Johnson for the welterweight title on The Ultimate Fighter.

Where the hells this weeks fight? This sucks, got stuck at work and missed this episode after catching every one, and cant find a place to watch it online. Anyone help? Have to give it to the brits this year, when mike came on the other year, you knew they were undiscovered, and since week one, you could see the talent and dedication through the camp. thinks I gotta give it for Ross! Will be looking forward to visiting his gym when I get over there this july! Also, great news to see that kimbo signed on to get whooped next year. Takes more than guns and a chin to win, but takes less to lose. When we gonna see Travis Wiuff on the air? All he needs is some stand up time, give him better training and he'd be a tuff stud.

I am tring to find my family roots. After seeing Ross Pearson on here I noticed more potential to find this. I just want to find the history. When my dad was in the hospitial we found the nurse was related from the same group who came over in the 1800's. sad enough my dad died 6 years ago and that lady isn't at St. Joesph hospital anymore in Atlanta where he was helped. I know we were from a Swedish/Irish province around those times. Can any one possibly help? The book I had was taken from me by my sister as if I was to not learn this. I know my uncle visits the British/Irish areas occasionally to try and find what he knows. I do not get to talk with him though. By the way I knew Pearson would kick ASS no matter what you guys think.

In the Winner vs. Pearson nfight i think it could go either way. Ross has great stand up and decent take down defence. The only reason i say winner could win is because i believe if he can get pearson on the ground he could bring some vicious ground and pound or his amazingly quick submissions, and the fact that winner is much taller and has a significant reach advatage which could help him drastically against pearson's stand-up. That being said, if winner cant manage to get ross on the ground and ross can time his strikes well, it will give him an advantage. Don't get me wrong winner has incredible stand-up as well and would give ross a good kick boxing match, but he is much better on the ground. I would have to say winner by either submission or split decision would more likely be the result, but it is also possible for ross to win by (T)KO or split decision.

As for Wilks vs. Johnson, i think johnson will take it. Wilks is a great fighter and has incredible stand-up, but i havent seen much of him on the ground or seen him go for a takedown, while johnson is a very well rounded fighter with very tight triangles. I think it will be an even match in the stand up, with maybe a slim advantage to Wilks, but i think johnson will realize that and take wilks to the ground and work for a submission or ground and pound. Johnson by (T)KO or submission
