The Top Ten... UFC Fights We Want to See

image

Dana White and the rest of the UFC matchmakers have masterfully put together classic fights that fans have gotten hyped. However with a loaded and talented roster of fighters, its about time the fans tried to dictate to management the superfights we want to see. Spike's takes a turn at fantasy booking with the UFC and picks it's Top Ten Fights We Want to See! Without further ado, here's the list:

image

10. Brock Lesnar vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria

Why we Want See it: This is a fight MMA and pro wrestling fans want to see. Can the former WWE champion handle the UFC Heavyweight champ? Nogueria may just be too good and stop this quicker than Frank Mir, but Lesnar’s wrestling skills and sheer raw power always gives him a chance.

Odds of Happening: 100% - There are only a few marketable heavyweight title fights available and this is one the UFC really wants to make.

 image

9. Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva III

Why we Want See it: Yes, Rampage has two losses to Silva but this is a different Rampage than from his Pride career and secondly one of those losses came from a controversial call when the ref ordered a stand-up as Jackson had a dominant ground position on Silva and looked to be close to finishing Silva off. Controversy or not, Wanderlei knocked Jackson out and just might have Rampage's number.

Odds of Happening: 65% - The UFC may be a little hesistant in putting the third match together between the two. Complicating matters further, Wanderlei lost his debut UFC fight to Liddell, so Wanderlei has to wait in line behind other LH’s. However, with a win over Keith Jardine on May 24th, the UFC may not be able to hold this rematch off much longer.

 image

8. Matt Hughes vs. Josh Koscheck

Why we Want See it: Should be a strong mat wrestling fight between the two fighters. Hughes is just so cocky, while Koscheck has such a chip on his shoulder that the heat for this could be incredible.

Odds of Happening: 85% - Being two of the top fighters in the Welterweight division makes this a match worth making.

 image

7. Anderson Silva vs. Wanderlei Silva

Why we Want See it: Battle of former training mates. Anderson left Wanderlei’s crew a few years back jumping to Heavyweight champion Antonio Nogueria’s team and, oh, just becoming the Middleweight champion of the world in the process. True there’s a weight division issue but for such a superfight they could come to terms to make this happen.

Odds of Happening: 40% - Unlike a certain other inter-division fight, this match-up makes little sense to put together but still a great 'what if' fight.

image

6. Josh Koscheck vs. Chris Leben

Why we Want See it: Didn’t you watch season one of the Ultimate Fighter? Or how about the smirk on Koscheck’s face when Anderson Silva beat down Leben? They hate each other! They really, really hate each other! While the first fight was a snooze with Koscheck’s boring ground it out strategy and Leben looked real tentative in throwing his bombs, Koscheck has undoubtedly become a better, less boring fighter while Leben remains a wild, brawler inside the octagon.

Odds of Happening: 50% - The build-up and trash talking to this fight would be incredible, but they’re in different weight classes. There’s certainly would be a buzz surrounding this fight, but it’s a fight that a loss wouldn’t hurt anyone but a win won’t move them closer to a title shot.

 image

5. Tito Ortiz vs. Wanderlei Silva II

Why we Want See it: An excellent number one contender's match and fresh match-up in the Light Heavyweight division. Ortiz has a win over a younger Wanderlei, but that was before he became the ‘Axe Murderer’ and (at one point) the most dominant Light Heavyweight in the world.

Odds of Happening: 70% - In given time, this match will occur.

 image

4. Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes

Why we Want See it: We were robbed of this heated fight due to a Serra back injury. This would be interesting to see how both recover from dominating losses at the hands of George St-Pierre. Could the strong wrestler Hughes handle the knock out power and jiu jitsu skills of ‘the Terror’

Odds of Happening: 96% - These two guys have legitimate heat between them and one could argue both want this fight more than another title shot at GSP.

image

3. Chuck Liddell vs. Forrest Griffin

Why we Want See it: A few years back, Griffin joked “it would be a great fight for 60 seconds then I’d get knocked out.” That was before two straight losses for Liddell and amazing performances by Griffin agiainst Tito Ortiz and his upset of ‘Shogun’ Rua. A Liddell victory may not be such a sure thing now and many would love to see the former season one Ultimate Fighter coach and trainee do battle.

Odds of Happening: 70% - With every fight and strong performances, Forrest is gaining more confidence that a victory over Liddell doesn't seem like the impossibility it once did. Additionally, Liddell might actually need to beat Forrest in order to get another shot at the Light Heavyweight title.

 image

2. Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre

Why we Want See it: You have argubly the two scariest champions in the UFC right now. The technically sound striking and submission skills of Anderson vs. the dominating wrestling and ground abilities of 'Rush'. Right now this is the ultimate dream match for the UFC. Both are running out of legitimate contenders in their own weight class and even GSP hinted at possibly moving up weight to fight the ‘Spider’.

Odds of Happening: 75% - They're in two different division and this ain’t Pride. But it's a very lucrative fight for the UFC and a match fans would be dying to see. Even though neither would be harmed by a loss, the UFC may not want one of their unbeatable champions to suffer their first loss at the hands of someone outside their own division.

 image

1. Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson vs. Tito Ortiz

Why we Want See it: Legitimately good friends (Jackson said he stayed away from the UFC out of respect for Ortiz as they fight at the same weight) the promos alone would be great. Both are strong wrestlers with Jackson possessing incredible knockout power (ask Liddell) and Ortiz seemingly always finding a  way to  impose his will on most fighters.

Odds of Happening:
83% - This is the last true dream match the UFC could put on. Make them both Ultimate Fighter 9 coaches and let these two build up their match to a record breaking UFC PPV match.

Agree? Disagree? Let your voice be heard. What match-up do you want to see that you think we left out and vote on which match-up on the list you want to see most.

I can't wait to see Serra and Hughes fight. No BJ Penn on the list! I'd love to see him fight Roger Huerta.

Zombula, do you honestly believe Tito? I think it's just hype. Once he demolishes Machida, he is going to renegotiate his contract - Tito is not going anywhere.

GSP and silva would be the absolute best fight. Both of them are so dominant they would just wreck each other like the first ultimate finale with forrest and bonnar...blood bath.

I would have to argue Silva vs. GSP as the #1 UFC fight. Both are by far the most dominant fighters in their divison. Another great match-up would be BJ Penn vs. Roger Huerta, or Roger Huerta vs. GSP.. and of course the best MMA fight in history: Randy Couture vs. Fedor Emelianenko!!!!

Zenman1 Hey guys. How about a rematch between Chris Leben&Terry Martin! These two guys gave us a fantastic slug- fest in their last match-up.It would be interesting to see if Terry con redeem himself, after that devastating knock out.Two great fighters! also think no.1 Rampage vs.Tito Ortiz would be a good fight.

Some of these would be truely amazing. Lesnar fighting for the title though would have to wait a while...he needs to mature as a fighter or he'll leave himself open for an easy submission again but he definitely showed he could ground and pound at pro level...after a year or so I'd like to see that fight. All the Wanderlei fights have got to happen with the exception of Tito leaving. Wanderlei is young and got a lot more fights in him and Rampage has already openly stated he wanted a peice of guys that "whooped up" on him like Shogun and Wanderlei. I can't believe no light weights were mentioned here. BJ Penn and Ken-Flo needs to happen soon. Kenny is annihilating top level contenders and he's definitely put in his time...he's changed his training and conditioning up since that Sherk fight and in less than a year I think he'll have that belt around his waste. GSP has stated he would like to fight Silva...because let's face it Dana is going to run out of soldiers to march to death against these guys. Randy and Fedor will probably happen but in another organization and Randy probably won't be at top level anymore. A few more I personally think would be killer matches are as follows:

Rich Franklin vs Michael Bisping - Good Strikers...I'd take Rich

Anderson Silva vs Wanderlei SIlva - Originally Chute Boxe...great Muay Thai...Wand has been talking about dropping

Shogun Rua vs Wanderlei Silva - Both great strikers with good Jiu Jitsu backgrounds...plus they used to be best friends and training partners

Chris Leben vs Nate Quarry - That's almost guaranted to end in knockout

i love how my mind goes blank...I'm sure the matchmakers have some of those in mind already anyway

Bisbing vs. Hendo makes a lot of sense. It sure seems like Dana and Joe Silva have protected Bisbing from the start. It is time for him to face top level fighters every time he is on the card. Am I alone in this theory or does anyone else think that Bisbing has had a carefully orchestrated path so far.

Why is GSP Vs. BJ Penn not on here

or even Rampage Vs. Anderson Silva

    I'd also like to see Machida Vs. Any Top Level Striker { Liddell or Silva }

even Machida Vs. Anderson Silva sounds like a good fight

Dan Henderson Vs. Chuck Liddell or Shogun Vs. Liddell

I think Henderson and Shogun got jipped in this 10 top fights people would like to see

Henderson Vs. Tito or Shogun Vs. Tito

If GSP moves up a few fights like Wanderlei and Henderson

    BJ moves up and Anderson Silva moves down { Penn Vs. Silva }

kk just saying this thing should of been top 20 not 10 cause you left out alot of fights

One fight I do not want to see (at least not yet) is ---

    GSP vs BJ Penn,

my reason?? Penn doesn't deserve it. In no way would it be fair for Penn to jump up in weight class and right ahead of everyone else in the division and get a shot at the champ. Its not fair to Thiago Alves, Dirty, ha hem, excuse me, Diego Sanchez. Josh Kosceck, etc etc... Penn thinks he can just jump up infront of everyone??? ferget it. If he wants a shot at GSP so bad, let him have a couple fights in welter again, put him up against Alves, Kosceck, Sanchez if he beats them all... fine he deserves a shot. Your not going to see Anderson go up to fight Griffen for his first LHW fight (or second) HE fought the sandman (Irvin) and he'll still have to fight a few more times before people start talkin title match.....

    Anyways, thats my 2 cents.

I love BJ but he doesnt deserve a shot.

NO BJ PENN!? Dude Dana whats up with your fans bra.....? Likei said before..us Haynz are tired of hearing that Anderson is the best p4p fighter....Honestly i believge its between 3 fights....BJ, Anderson and GSP.....I truely want to see a rematch between GSP and BJ...We all know that BJ won that fight....All GSP did was take bj down to win the fight..Us UFC fans HATE to see someone win a fight by takedowns....DID YOU SEE GSP's FACE AFTER THAT FIGHT!? The judges should have seen that BJ did WAAAAAY more damage compared to GSP's takedowns lol.....But anyways....Dana, you need to get either BJ or Silva to drop weigfht or gain weight to create that match...... Millions of dollars to be made with BJ and sivla fight...The name of that UFC could be "ufc84 p4p" lol....

    Franklin vs Marquardt

wanderlei silva vs Tito2 or Wanderlei vs Belfort

    Rampage vs Rashad

    Mir vs Valasquez

welterweight division sucks cuz no one can come close to competing with st.pierre so there's no dream matches there ( and st.pierre will stomp Hardy when they do fight).

lightweight division sucks too cuz all they do is roll around for 3 rounds. too boring! so no dream matched there either

All these on one card cuz lets be real the last few UFC cards have sucked and not worth the 45 bucks, even the next few upcomming cards suck too. With fighters all sudden comming up with injuries before thier fights doesnt help either
