There is something amazing about a human being completely losing it on stage and bombing in front of a live audience. It's great to see everything they thought they would accomplish come crumbling down right in front of their faces. Sometimes an artist botching on stage can be better than an artist having the performance of a lifetime. This is why the auditions on American Idol are wayyy better than the actual competition.
9. Ashlee Simpson Owns Herself At The Orange Bowl
I would have put the SNL lip-sync fiasco on this list, but it really wasn’t much of a performance. It doesn’t show the true crappiness of Ashlee Simpson. Saying that this girl has no talent is the biggest understatement in human history.
On January 4, 2005, Simpson attempted to redeem her botched SNL performance by doing a legit live version of "La La" at the halftime show for the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. After her performance, 72,000-plus spectators let her know that she needs to make music no more. Oh, Kelly Clarkson also performed before Simpson and kinda owned the bitch.
8. Rihanna Attempts “Hero" In High School
I’ve always thought that Rihanna has one of the most unnatural singing voices on the planet. It’s flat, one dimensional and just plain irritating. A mouse could have recorded “Umbrella” and still it would have hit number on the Billboard charts. Every single live performance I’ve seen her in this year has been a seminar on how to lip-sync.
Here’s a revealing clip of Rihanna giving a woeful rendition of the Mariah Carey classic "Hero" during some high school talent show. Get ready to squirm in your seat.
The 2:50 mark is my favorite…
She can’t hang with this chick…
7. Nickelback Gets Stoned In Portugal
This really isn’t much of a full live performance, but seeing Chad getting stoned in the head and being booed off stage is as therapeutic as it gets for me.
While performing the second song of their set at Portugal's Ilha do Ermal festival in 2002, Nickelback walked off stage during their scheduled appearance after being continually pelted with rocks and bottles during the early part of the performance.
See what happens when Chad Kroeger asks the audience if there are any Nickelback fans in Portugal…
