The 7 Worst Albums By Awesome Bands

Getting a lemon of a record from your favorite band may be one of the worst things to happen to a music fan. How do bands with so much talent and skill produce such bad material? I could never understand how (or why) they would let these duds get out the door. Do these people just lose their minds and become tasteless musicians?

7. Weezer – The Green Album

In my opinion, Weezer’s The Blue Album and Pinkerton are two if the best albums of the ‘90s. So when The Green Album was released in 2001 you could imagine my anticipation.

What would Rivers Cuomo have in store for us now? Was it possible to top Pinkerton? Who knew I was about to blindly purchase some pop commercial crap and place it in my poor, unassuming CD player.

Even though “Hash Pipe” and “Island in the Sun” are good pop songs, this record sounds like a bunch of dumb college kids trying to imitate Weezer. It lacks the imagination, intelligence and dry wit of their first two classic LPs. This album was truly a sign of things to come.

6. Santana – Supernatural

Santana must have needed a paycheck and a Grammy in the worst way. I still find it really hard to believe that he decided to slut himself out in 1999 by making a crappy star-studded duets album. Not only does he recycle the same freakin’ solo on every track, he also somehow did a song with Dave Matthews and Rob Thomas without killing himself in the process. This guy really is supernatural!

5. Michael Jackson – HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I

I find it funny that Jacko released a two-disc album just to feature his greatest hits. As if the entire free world didn’t already own every one of his albums.

MJ’s second side of new tracks featured a slew of bloated pop numbers that truly showed the rapidly declining talent of the King of Pop. “Scream” might have been the only redeeming track on the album, but there really wasn’t a single track that was anywhere near the Off The Wall and Thriller caliber.

Oh, and creating a dictatorial statue of yourself has to be one of the most narcissistic acts of all time. Nice chin, though.

4. Pink Floyd - The Final Cut

image

I love Floyd, but this album is a pile of crap.

Final Cut was the last Pink Floyd studio album to feature primary songwriter and bass player Roger Waters. Final Cut was also the only Pink Floyd album on which the composers' credit on every track was given only to Waters, with no songwriting credits given to any other member of the band. Obsessed much?

In my opinion, this album was just plain depressing. It’s grim, dark and altogether too tight. Waters really needed to enter a psycho ward instead of a recording studio. His self-analysis approach definitely worked on The Wall but not on this one. Diamond in the rough, my ass.

Fuck you!!! You fucking retarded piece of shit!!! Metallica was awesome throughout all of their stages. They paved the way for all of the best metal bands like Slipknot. You can not deny all of their success what ever their choice was it just got them more fame. They are the only band right now that stays true to the original metal of the 80's and 90's. Kirk Hammett is #11 on the list of best guitar players of all time. So before you diss the ultimate metal band of all time think before you open your goddamn mouth you worthless piece of shit!!!!!

    P.S Fuck you!!!!

Uuuh - ignoring the fact that you can't distinguish between an individual and a band will not go away...despite all the cutesy hugs certain users wish to lavish on total strangers. When you write a critical article, you're going to be able to tolerate a little criticism in turn, right? ...Right? Bueller?

The Final Cut is underrated. Hated it at first listen: Where was the music? And who makes an album about the Falkland's War anyway.

But then it grows on you and you realize it's an album with a lot on it's mind and lo and beholds....there's music in them thar hills.

To ShillMaher: No. Bob Dylan's worst is either Knocked Out Loaded or Down in the Groove. At least Self Portrait is listenable (if utterly uninspired).

To the author of the article: The Final Cut was a great album, though really the first Roger Waters solo piece in all but name. "The Gunner's Dream", "Not Now John", "The Fletcher Memorial Home", "Two Suns in the Sunset" and "Paranoid Eyes" are all teriffic songs.

Same with Pablo Honey. "Creep" is one of the LEAST liked songs on there by fans at this point! "You" and "Lurgee" were played into the late 90s and the former has been requested by fans for years since. Likewise "Blow Out" "Anyone Can Play Guitar" and "Stop Whispering" are all fan favourites. "Prove Yourself" and "Thinking About You" are often requested for Thom Yorke solo gigs. Sure, The Bends is a better album but you're a fucking moron.

Right on fj...Vitalogy has no business being labeled as a "crappy" album, when it kicks the rear of any Coldplay, Eagles, Grateful Dead, or esp. Madonna release; also, the WORST Bob Dylan album is easily Self-Portrait...

I agree with most of your choicec but putting Pearl Jam's Vitalogy in the Honorable Mentions is a travesty. It is one of if not their best album due to its sheer originality at a time when Seal and Hootie and the Blowfish were huge... Rolling Stone, Q and Time magazines all gave it 4 out of 5 stars while Allmusic gave it 4 and a half on 5. Now if you had chosen Binaural or maybe even one of their transitional albums like No Code or Yield, I might of understood (yet disagreed). But Vitalogy!!! Come on!!!

SPIKE....proved it one more time, if it was not for UFC, I would have spiked this network off. What can you expect from a JUNIOR MTV....Hopeless marketing article. I want to see how much the editor knows what he is approving. Where is Jefferson Starship? Scorpions with VIRGIN KILLER....?
This list is as carp as I had to register to leave a comment....Micheal Jackson's HISTORY is not even an album, its a collection of his GREATEST HITS.......not defending his music (thriller was awesome, but everything after and else....*fart*) If you wanna see bad albums read "rolling stones" not SPIKE....

Since when is Michael Jackson a "band", geniuses? Or for that matter, a human being (based on his recent appearances)?
