The Top 10 Actresses Past Their Expiration Date

Some actresses age gracefully and seem to become more radiant over time. Other actresses are not so lucky. They hit their expiration date and go bad, and once they hit that point there’s no making the sour gallon of milk scrumptious again. These actresses keep getting cast in big movies, but it’s only a matter of time before Father Time catches up with them.

10. Nicole Kidman

image

Source: Junko Kimura/Getty Images

Kidman was one of the sexiest actresses around for a long, long time – she’s kept her shiny gloss for nigh on twenty years now. And she’s probably aged better than anyone else on this list, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t gone past her "Use By" date. Her face has begun to look like an evil bubble, those beady little eyes bearing down on whomever dares draw near.

It’s easy to see why Tom Cruise would have grown tired of this uptight Aussie getting up in his grill every night. And after the bomb that was Australia, I think it’s clear that audiences are not drawn to her in droves anymore (were they ever?). Kidman works best now as a villain or a mom. She and Keith Urban deserve each other.

9. Teri Hatcher

image

Source: Ethan Miller/Getty Images

Teri Hatcher first came to our attention in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and a classic episode of Seinfeld in the mid-'90s. And she was pretty darn hot. Skinny, large-breasted, big eyes, and an even bigger smile...there really wasn't much not to like about her. Sure, her acting chops were never anything to write home about, but dang if she didn't know how to stand around and look pretty.

Oh, how times change. Though she continues her television work in Desperate Housewives, her days of hotness have most definitely come to an end. She got the skinny thing down, but then she kept getting skinnier. And skinnier, and skinnier, and skinnier, until we couldn't even remember what it was we liked about her so much to begin with. She now looks like a scary mix between Michael Jackson and the mummy of King Tut. This is not what we want to be looking at having affairs with the pool boy and the next door neighbor.

Someone get this woman a cheeseburger on the double.

8. Drew Barrymore

image

Source: Nancy Ostertag/Getty Images

Okay, let’s be honest: Drew Barrymore was never really all that hot. In fact, hot was never the appropriate adjective for her. She was cute as a little kid in E.T. and sometimes adorable in her twenties, and now…well, now she’s just another talking chubby face attached to a chubby body that should know better than to be projected on a giant movie screen.

The tragedy is that at 34, Barrymore doesn’t even come close to being old. But there are only so many romantic comedies she can foul up with that Batman chin of hers and that I’m-so-adorable-and-don’t-even-know-it voice that shreds your ears like a cheese grater. Enough is enough. Someone do the right thing and get this woman in the plus-size section of a JCPenney catalogue, stat!

7. Helen Hunt

image

Source: Amy Graves/Getty Images

Helen Hunt was actually aging very gracefully for a while; she was lovelier with each successive film she starred in. The movies she chose weren’t always winners (What Women Want, Pay It Forward) but hell if she didn’t look good acting in them. In Castaway you really feel bad for Tom Hanks because of how bad fate screwed him over – he lost a damn fine woman!

And then along came anorexia. In the last film she starred in, Then She Found Me (also her directorial debut) she looked like an emaciated victim of malnutrition on the brink of death. The movie should have been called Then She Found My Skeleton Walking Around and Talking. Because that’s what it looked like was going on: a corpse had been reanimated and given some heartfelt lines to say. It was more than a bit frightening, and somewhat perplexing, that someone so intelligent would buy into the unattractive Hollywood fad of self-starvation.

6. Renee Zellweger

image

Source: Gail Oskin/Getty Images

Renee Zellweger has always walked the fine line between cute and hot, and usually fell on the side of cute. But these days she doesn’t fit in either. Her squinty-eyed circle of a face often seems like a pumpkin that’s been ham-handedly carved into a woman, and it’s not something most people care to spend too much time looking at.

It doesn’t help that she’s continually starring in stupid movies, or movies that she doesn’t really belong in. Leatherheads, Appaloosa, New in Town…none of these movies have done well and it doesn’t seem like an accident that she’s been the female lead in all three of them.

There was once a time when Zellweger’s cutesy, girl-next-door qualities were called for. And then the credits rolled at the end of Jerry Maguire.

Great list. I would only disagree with Drew Barrymore. She still looks cute to me primarily because she doesn't seem to have had a lot of plastic surgery unlike most of the women on this list. In particular, Nicole Kidman, Meg Ryan, and Terri Hatcher all look like they have had too much work done. Shiny, stretched fake skin, obvious cheek and chin implants and weird smooth expressionless forehead from too much Botox. Bleach!

I'd have to disagree with the Drew Barrymore thing, I think she actually pretty now, as I wasn't so impressed with her before. As far as Nicole Kidman, she was elegant and sexy as hell in Golden Compass. Now the ones I think weren't harsh enough... Sarah J Parker has always looked like a horse and only comes 2nd to Barbara Streisand as ugliest and most annoying, and people have killed themselves because Julia Roberts continues to make movies.
Pretty spot on with the rest.
Can I also just add Courtney Love, even though I think she over stayed her welcome before she walked in the door.

Booooo, Renee is still hot. Let's just say you wouldn't kick her out of bed. I will have to say that I agree with the rest of your picks: Cameron Diaz is a troll, is that Teri Hatcher or Michael Jackson? This is a really great top ten list, anyone can post their own to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.

I think you're not helping girls out at all. Sure you rag on Helen Hunt for having Anorexia, but then you also rag on the somewhat slightly chubbier Drew Barrymore for being fat? It's people like you who makes normal sized girls become anorexic! What do they have to do for you to think they're ok? Be an exact weight? They have to be exactly 109.7lbs, 0.1 lbs over and they need a plus size catalog, 01. lbs under and they're anorexic? I agree that Drew Barrymore is definitely on the slightly chubbier side, but to go as far as to say that she needs a plus-size catalog is just shitty of you.

Has anyone else noticed that Meg Ryan's eye-lifts and face surgeries have caused her to change races?
She went from being Caucasian to Asian. Now, don't get me wrong, being Asian is great; it's just that you shouldn't look that way because of your face being tightened and pulled.
The weird thing is, then she adopted an Asian child, and I started wondering if she did it to match her face...

You think that Helen Hunt is someone:"that someone so intelligent would buy into the unattractive Hollywood fad of self-starvation" I don't understand how this can be said directly after slandering Drew Barrymore for being chubby. Why are you contradicting yourself? Are you an idiot? Drew does not deserve to be on this list. She has never been "hot" but has always been sweet and cute. She is of HEALTHY weight dude, she is what healthy weight is! It shows that not all actresses have to look so skinny and still be famous. Even though her movies suck, how can you hate on her for being Chubby and then hate that skeleton looking woman or being too skinny. What is wrong with you dude? Chicks are gorgeous with there curves and sweet thickness to grab onto while you're banging her good! Take Drew off the list! you say she's too big, when she is not. Oh yeah have you seen her recently? She's now too skinny. I respect her because she's one of the few actresses willing to live, and love in her body. Her body is thick, and thick is hot! Now tell why you'd ever list Drew Barrymore and than Helen hunt, who obviously has an eating disorder and is too skinny, right after the other? Too skinny yes! To chubby? NO! Drew looks like size 9 or 12, The size of a nice thick chick! Take her off the list, seeing as she's not old, and she's not actually hot. Drew Barrymore was recently on T.V., I didn't even recognize her b/c she looked so thin and UN-natural, some girls just look better, and cuter with a bit of sweet chubby to them!

Oh my God! This article is so cruel, but honestly, it says what so many of us have been thinking but have been afraid to say!

Helen Hunt-I did not know she was suffering from anorexia, and would never want to make fun of the disease, but she had a responsibility as director of her last movie, "Then She Found Me", to cast a lead actress that would help to bring dimension to the film. She was absolutely frightening looking.

Nicole Kidman-What has happened to her? Her face is so solid that it looks like it's about to crack. What's wrong with aging gracefully?

Julia Roberts-There's just no way she's ever been attractive in my mind. In her latest "Duplicity" she brought nothing to the character.

Renee Zellwegger-She makes me think of a strange little elf nowadays.

Drew Barrymore-I think you are wrong to include Drew. She one of the few actresses who seem to have kept her self intact amidst the insanity of Hollywood.

Lindsey Lohan-As a fellow Long Island girl, I have always wanted to like Lindsey, but her antics of the past few years have turned me off so much that I literally can¿t stand to look at her.

Sarsh Jessica Parker-I truly can¿t understand how she was ever chosen as the lead for ¿Sex in the City¿. Although she is a good actress, there must have been hundreds of equally good actress who were at least somewhat attractive who would have jumped at the part.

Meg Ryan-When I saw her recently on a talk show I was horrified. What did she do to herself? She doesn¿t even look like the same person anymore.

Cameron Diaz-She needs to realize that she is maturing and start taking on more serious roles, or Hollywood is going to leave her behind.

You really were "right-on" with most of your picks. Glad someone had the guts to say it!

These people are doing what pleases them and if you are not pleased with it .......don't look and move on to something that's going to make your life better. These people don't know you and don't want to, their lives are filled with the things that matters to them, is your life? Now get going.

OIC, women come with a "use by" date. Once they reach a certain age and/or stop looking beautiful, their talents have expired and they should just GTFO. I see what you're saying, Bruce Glikas.

Honestly, the amount of sexism in this article is sickening. Examine yourself.

This article is sexist and slightly retarded. Make a list about male actors who need to GTFO, too, because they're old, bloated, and unattractive.
Vince Vaughn, George Clooney, Jack Nicholson, and Brad Pitt, for starters. All well past their prime.

Fact: Women are looking hotter longer and longer --- reeling in young studs --- and u guys HATE it! Older women are looking as good as older men now ... and I have a feeling that your SPITEFUL (get it?) article will not hurt any of these women's feelings or paycheck. Get a life dudes.

so, women are only good for their looks, and once they pass a certain weight limit or a certain age, let's just get rid of 'em and leave them for the flies, because obviously they're not good for anything anymore. really? this article disgusts me. it's guys like you that make normal looking girls go anorexic, or just feel totally shitty about how they look. i'm sorry that we aren't all 20, blonde, tan and hot, and i'm sorry that there are women on this earth who don't exactly look like how you'd like them to. it's a sick and twisted mind that thinks that such a vile verbal beating of 10 amazingly talented and beautiful actors is acceptable for publication. i hope you think next time about your wives, girlfriends, moms, and sisters, before spewing such anti-woman crap again.

Btw, idiot, way to contradict yourself - calling Helen Hunt too skinny and Renee too fat. BTW you're not fooling anyone here by picking out THE WORST pictures of these actresses to try and prove your point.

You're just furthering the stereotype that women are only valuable if they're pretty and young. I wish we could kick men like you off the planet.

And where's the men who should get the fuck out article, hm? You're a sexist idiot.

But I guess this was a fun article for you and your douchebag friends to sit around and complain that there's not enough "Hot chicks" in the media. It's a-holes like you that are just gonna turn around in 5 years or so and bitch that there's not enough, "smart" women in the media.

And beating a woman up for suffering from anorexia and therefore losing her "hotness"? Seriously? That's wrong on so many levels. Can you imagine someone saying, "Patrick Swayze was hot, before the cancer came along. Now he's just past his best by date".

OK, hold up. I've seen Drew Barrymore, in the flesh, several times. The girl is maybe 5'1" on a tall day, and weighs maybe 100 pounds if someone dumps a vat of soup on her. The girl, she is TINY.

    Size 9-12? Seriously?

Not that a dress size matters, and not that larger ladies can't be ridiculously smokin' hot because OMG...but come on. I have had it to the gills with folks misperceiving women's height/weight ratio based on TV/Photoshop standards. Remember, TV/film adds about 10-15 pounds. The women you're criticizing for being too "chunky" here are almost definitely too thin for you to find attractive in real life. I live in Santa Monica. I see these women every day. They are unattractively skeletal.

Think about that for a minute.

Shame on your gullible media-saturated asses.

Wow, a lot of ladies obviously butthurt over this. For that alone, it's a great article. Nice job, Nathan.

I've always thought it great when angsty women turn out in their numbers to demand respect for their gender from those whom they simultaneously denigrate. 'Men are only good for running over ... so have respect for us!' Yeah, cool story bro. No really. I always respect people who want to kill me and always feel sensitive towards their objectification.

I do suspect that the reason so many ladies are so fuming is because they know how true this article is; and that they are all either approaching, or have already passed, their expiration date. Or perhaps they never got male attention in the first place. Their emotional outbursts are hilarious, however - like a child stomping its feet - so please write more articles along these lines, Nathan.

It's interesting that you express surprise over Helen Hunt's dramatic weight loss, yet you are quick to label Drew Barrymore as "fat". Miss Barrymore cannot possibly be larger than a size 6.

You also express annoyance about the poor acting choices made by Renee Zellweger. Have you considered that ageism and sexism in Hollywood are a contributing factor? This whole article is fine example of that. Women in hollywood are no longer considered bankable actresses after the age of 35 and therefore receive very few offers. Your comment about Cameron Diaz illustrates another part of the problem: "Must the studios keep foisting her upon us as the "Hot Girl" when we¿ve got the likes of Megan Fox and Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt to pick from?" In Hollywood, women are viewed as "Hot Girls" who have no identities and their only purpose is to look good and stay quiet. Clearly, that's an idea you agree with. I hope someday you grow out of that and learn to respect women by treating them as people. Not as physical objects that can become useless as they merely succumb to the natural process of aging. You might be surprised by what you would find.

We get it. The compilers of this list don't find any of these women fuckable. Guys, really, you don't have to make excuses for your sexual tastes; no one's going to assault your manhood for finding these women unfuckable. But these ladies all put their butts on the line every time they step in front of a camera and so, for future reference, if you're going to engage in such irresponsible, destructive bullshit endeavors, maybe your list compilers could also post photos of themselves - full length, of course - to accompany such articles.

if you want to hold women to standards of physical beauty (even though they seem arbitrary and impossible at times) then women have every right to hold men to standards of intelligence.
the holes and contradictions in your "logic" simply don't live up to our standards....
but i'll make you a deal; grow up and eradicate stupidity from the male species and i'll make sure that all women look exactly alike and never, never age.

But I see the herd from feministing.com is going on a stampede! They're likely upset because they're all already past their expiration dates (despite their ages) and as much as they hate men, they still demand our respect. The poor misguided sows...

ugh, i think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. I thought being a writer you're supposed to be creative. Guess the ole judge-women-only-on-looks bit was the farthest the author's little brain could expand to. Maybe Spike should try a talented writer next time?

So because a couple of women make denigrating comments about men, there's no reason to be kind or respectful to women in general? Isn't that just as bad as women who decide to hate men in general because of the actions of a few?

I don't get it, guys. I mean, fine, let's say that this article is all in good fun. But then to go and say that it's even better because it actually hurts and upsets people? To act like that's an admirable goal? Why do people perpetuate this stupid war of the sexes crap?

Surely you fellas have women in your lives who you love and respect. You might be surprised, too, to find out that some of them are probably feminists. A feminist is not a woman who wants to bust your balls and spoil your fun. Honest. Not all feminists are lesbians (and certainly not "man-hating lesbians," the old familiar stereotype), but that shouldn't matter anyway. Most feminists are people you know, who just want a fair shake at being treated like a human being. There really are some things wrong with our world in the way it treats both men and women, but we can never seem to talk about them honestly as men and women because words like "sow" and "old bag" and "man-hater" and "chauvinist pig" get in the way.

You guys really do like women, right? For their beauty, certainly, but maybe also for the occasional friendship? Possibly the occasional relationship? Because there are some really nice things about women. There are some really nice things about men. So why are we constantly at war and perpetuating only the negative stereotypes about each other? Is it because we get burned and give up?

    I don't get it.

I never liked any of them. Sarah Jessica Parker and Meg Ryan really deserve to be on this list.
On the other hand, who can blame them for aging? Nobody can avoid that. They were just not that great in the first place.

GOOD GRIEF! What a piece of misogynistic CRAP! What, do men not have an expiration date?

And there's nothing wrong with Drew Barrymore, she looks fine! Have you seen her lately...she doesn't look chubby at all. Even if she is, so what? Do all actresses have to be a size 3 or something? And you wonder why actresses as you say "buy into the unattractive Hollywood fad of self-starvation". It's because of people like you.

This is appalling. You can all feel free to refrain from using words like "feminazi". These women are human beings, and people do not "expire" until they leave this mortal coil. I think it important that readers also note the disclaimer at the bottom of this page which states that the network will have nothing to do with the opinions posted on this here blog. Thus, no one can think that it is the fault of the manly men's channel for this offensive trash to have been posted. As for so-called feminazis, who are also represented in the response to the article, can't we all agree that Lifetime is as much bullshit as Spike? In any case...television is irrelevant. Let's hear it for humanism!

just because a woman disagrees with what this article is saying doesn't make her a feminazi... and the fact that this article was written by a gay man is completely irrelevant, it still suggests that women are nothing more that objects.
oh and btw justanormalguy..before you spout off with all this random word vomit you should learn english. last time i checked inattractive isn't a word, its unattractive, learn it, cause it describes your personality well

This Is the most disgusting, shallow, sexist article i have read in a long time. On the one hand, you vilify Terri Hatcher for being anorexic, and on the other you insult Drew Barrymore for her chubbiness. I would love to see what the author looks like. People get old. You will too!

WOW WHAT YEAR IS IT?? Who at Spike approved this sexist, ageist tripe to even be published? What is behind all the hatred in this article? Jealousy? Drew Barrymore chubby? Give me a break. I wish I could see the too fat or too skinny pale basement dweller who wrote this.

*looks at the picture of the author of this article* - dude, you should be on this list too. These women have talent, regardless of how well, or not so well they've aged, most are still very talented. I digress, I guess everyone should have their opinion no matter how offensive or insensitive it might be... and probably the first and last time I'll ever come to the Spike TV website.

"The female of the species is a master at absorbing herself in her own thoughts and neuroses and projecting them onto men. In the U.S., virtually all women are suffering from the unmentionable delusion that guys are just like them when it comes to sexual attraction. From career women who lament that their accomplishments don¿t give men erections to living lardballs claiming that men don¿t want them because of peer pressure, the female is unparalleled when it comes to assigning her prejudices and desires to the male. Even on issues on which men and women are visibly different, such as the effect of aging on sexual market value, women can¿t stop digging in their hole of projection, as is evidenced by the myth of ¿male menopause¿ and the ludicrous new claim that men have a biological clock. Men rarely engage in sexual solipsism of this sort, and those who do are mocked..."
