Spike and TNA Entertainment today announced a three-year extension on their current deal.
The new deal, beginning on October 1, 2009, will include weekly episodes of TNA iMPACT as well as a series of one-hour specials. Each special will feature highlights from TNA’s biggest and most-memorable matches in history, some of which have never before been seen on basic cable.
The announcement comes on the heels of TNA iMPACT’s highest rated quarter (2Q09) on Spike TV, posting an average of more than 1.8 million viewers each week. With some of the biggest personalities in professional wrestling, TNA’s online extension continues to grow in popularity as well. With a more robust offering on Spike.com, fans are beginning to show up in droves to watch full episodes, catch the TNA iMPACT Match of the Night and follow one of TNA's biggest stars through the Monster Blog.
“With the tremendous success and record ratings we have achieved over the past three years, we are very happy to continue as Spike TV’s wrestling partner,” said TNA President Dixie Carter. “We are excited to continue our relationship with the fantastic team that has supported TNA from the very beginning and look forward to even greater success with all of our TNA programming on Spike TV.”
