Nixon Speaks His Mind

It appears America will never recover from the ignominy of the Nixon presidency, and we are fated to replay it again, and again, and again in books, specials and movies. And here we go again! Ron Howard's new film Frost/Nixon sports an impressive cast with actors like Frank Langella, Michael Sheen and Sam Rockwell, and will in all likelihood be a very entertaining film. Check out the trailer after the jump.

I have to say, I'm not feeling Langella's Nixon any more than I felt Anthopy Hopkins's. Is it that hard to find an older American actor who can both look and sound like Nixon? Langella's large, lumbering, deep-voiced persona would be a better fit for Lyndon Johnson or even Franklin Delano Roosevelt. But I'm not getting any of Nixon's shifty, furtive weasliness that is so essential to playing the ex-president. But who knows, maybe Langella's got an ace up his sleeve. I'll be interested to see how this one turns out one way or another.
