Alex’s Lemonade stand was created by Alexandra Scott who was battling neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer, for seven and a half years. When Alex was just four years she began raising money for what she considered her “new hospital”. In fall of 2001, she held a modest lemonade stand in her front yard and raised $600 for Neuroblastoma research at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She continued to do this annually and her message spread allowing her to raise over four million dollars for childhood cancer before she passed away at the age of eight.
