Monster Blog: Slammiversary Part II

Hey everyone, it's the Monster Abyss again and I am so excited this week because it's Slammiversary week and all roads lead to Detroit this Sunday for what promises to be the most exciting TNA event in its seven-year history.  I am excited of course because I get a chance to get my hands on Raven and Dr. Stevie.

That makes me extremely happy because they both have a lot coming to them in the form of the 350-pound monster. I am going to destroy Raven and then I'm coming after Dr. Stevie and nothing is going to stop me.

It's the seven year anniversary for TNA and it's got a lot of people around TNA excited, including yours truly.  It's a very sentimental day as Slamiversary reminds us of how much hard work we have all done to make TNA what it is today: "The best wrestling company ever."  Slammiversary is a day to remember and reflect on how much passion, perseverance, and dedication everyone at TNA has put forth to help TNA grow and become what it has today. Can you imagine what TNA will be like in seven more years? Wow, it's exciting, because look at what we have done so far.  The next seven should be phenomenal.  Last week I touched on some of the memories from the first couple of years at TNA in the Asylum. This week I would like to touch on some of the lasting memories and memorable moments from the past few years in TNA.

I think the most memorable moment from the past few years has to be when we debuted on Spike TV.  I can remember this being the most exciting and nerve racking day of my life.  TNA had made it to the world of weekly television on a major network.  I can remember being so nervous, even for a monster, that night. Going to the ring was an exhilarating feeling and one of the most exciting nights of my life.  To make it even more exciting, I had the daunting task of wrestling Kurt Angle that night.  It was quite a thrill and honor to wrestle one of the best ever on the debut show of TNA iMPACT.  I will never forget it.

TNA's growth has been incredible over the past couple of years. We have attracted some of the top talent in the world to be a part of TNA. Mick Foley, Kevin Nash, Booker T, Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Sting, Samoa Joe, to just name a few that have helped TNA reach that level of competitiveness to make us the best wrestling company ever.  I can remember the first-ever Sunday night Pay-Per-View event in Orlando, Victory Road. I can remember being so nervous as TNA did the first ever Monsters Ball match between me, Raven, and Monty Brown.  The match lived up to its billing and was a brutal fight, but more importantly I will never forget that night because of its importance to TNA. We had arrived on pay-per-view. No words can describe my feelings that night.

I vividly remember winning the TNA World Title in Orlando from Sting in my most memorable moment personally in TNA.  I can remember the match being a knock-down, drag-out contest. I can remember thinking that I was in the ring with a true icon of this sport.  I can remember holding the world title for the first time after I was victorious.  Again, no words could ever describe that feeling and the memory that comes with it.

I remember when TNA first showed me my first ever trading card. I couldn't believe it. I had only seen other trading cards of wrestlers from years gone by, but this was TNA.  The card had a brief paragraph on me and I remember reading it 15 times the first time I held the card.  I can remember being even more blown away when I saw and held the Abyss action figure for the first time.  I had only dreamt of having an action figure and now fantasy had become reality. I even sometimes still play with my Abyss and AJ Styles action figures. Of course, I win every time.

These are just some of the memories that I think of every year at this time.  If I listed every memory, I would be here for a week straight writing.  I think the point that sums it all up is this: Slammiversary is a time of year where I am thankful for TNA and everything it has done for me and the wrestling world. Slammiversary is a reminder to me how blessed we are all at TNA and how our job has just begun.  That job being to continue to make TNA the best it can be and the best in the world. It all starts this Sunday in Detroit at Slammiversary.  I hope you all can watch. I am so excited I can hardly wait.

Talk to you all next week. Take care. Bye, bye.
