The worlds of beauty pageants and prostitution clashed last week at the very first Miss Hooker 2008 beauty pageant. The event was organized by Los Angeles artist Natalia Fabia to “showcase the fabulous hookers that Fabia paints – strong, independent and fierce females who turn their tricks with charm and talent”.
The pageant had it all with swimsuit, ball gown and talent sections. The girls showed off amazing talents such as cooking an egg, yo-yoing, dancing with pasties and whistling. The girls also had wonderfully witty names such as Miss Behave, Miss Squirt, Miss Strawberry(???), Miss One Dolla No Holla, Miss Platinum Puss, Miss Bone Amie and Miss Guided. Miss Sailor had the right hooker attitude and game plan to take out the tile, saying “I’m going to try and win by basically shaking my ass”.
Apparently the girls weren’t actually hookers in the traditional sense, which probably upset a large part of the audience. Fabia believes “Everyone is a hooker, everyone is working for money”. I suppose this is true, but I always thought pageants were about pretty girls working towards world peace, not sticking it to the man.
At the end of the night Miss One Dolla No Holla was awarded the crown and winner’s sash. After the event, audience members lined up to pay $5 for a Polaroid with the new Queen. Which goes to show - hooking isn’t easy, but someone’s got to do it.
