Mariah Carey is Still a Nutjob
Recently, Mariah's demanded to be surrounded by 20 white kittens and 100 white doves as she turned on a shopping center’s Christmas lights. This request, not surprisingly, was denied. Her list of demands also included being driven by Rolls Royce along a pink carpet right to the pink podium where she is to wave a wand to turn on the lights. A source revealed the model of car had to be changed six times before she was finally happy. Carey, 39, also wanted confetti shaped like butterflies to shower over her at the end and has also requested an entourage of 15, along with about 80 security guards. Definitely not a diva in slightest! [Daily Mail]
Oprah Announces the End of Her Talk Show
Don't get too excited yet though: On Friday, Oprah is set to announce the end of her iconic talk show, with the final episode date of September 9th, 2011, after 25 years of talk show magic. Apparently, the voice inside the head of housewives across the nation chose not to renew her contract. Although very little is known beyond that, the loss of her show will likely change the landscape of vapid daytime television forever. Hopefully for the better. [Perez Hilton]
Tom Cruise Still Does His Own Stunts
Of course, the biggest stunt he could pull off at this point is convincing the general population that he doesn’t suck. He might have a hard time doing that in the new film he stars in with Cameron Diaz, which was once titled (confusingly) Wichita, but now called Knight & Day. Whoever came up with that pun will likely be flogged in the streets if and when this movie bombs. James Mangold is directing, which means there’s hope yet for the film, but this one has so many unpredictable elements it’s hard to say. Diaz’s last studio film, The Box, predictably bombed, and Cruise is far from being the bankable star he once was. But the supporting cast is promising: Paul Dano, Peter Sarsgaard, and Maggie Grace. Brad Pitt Finds a Dark Void
Capcom’s video game Dark Void might turn into a movie, despite the horrible track record video game movies have had for the last…well, forever. But Brad Pitt likes his odds, or at least the paycheck he’s being offered. He would play a pilot named Will who crash lands in the Bermuda Triangle, travels to a different universe, and joins a Remember the Alamo-type situation to fight off a hostile alien race. This would make a really awesome video game. Oh, wait. It already did. [Risky Business]
Public Enemy Literally Rolls Hard Through Washington D.C.

Public Enemy took in even more street cred recently by doing a performance on a police-escorted flatbed truck thru the streets of D.C. to raise awareness for young homeless people. Chuck D spoke to the crowd: "It's not about us. It's about making sure we make it better for those young people that go without. It's plain and simple." These guys kinda make other hip-hop crews look like a joke. Yeeeah Boy! [FOX]
Sony Plans 3D Upgrade to PS3 Via Software
In a presentation detailing Sony's plans to become profitable by the end of 2010, Sony revealed plans to upgrade Playstation 3 consoles with full 3D support. The news supports previous reports on Sony's 3D PlayStation 3 strategy, suggesting that a firmware upgrade would introduce the capability to existing consoles. Not only does Sony plan on upgrading the console to support 3D, but they will also release games in 3D in order to take advantage of the enhanced capabilities. [Gear.IGN]
AT&T Loses Case Against Verizon's "There's a Map For That" Ads
Last week we told you about AT&T's lawsuit leveled at Verizon, in which AT&T claims that consumers cannot tell the difference between 3G coverage and cellular service area on a map labeled "3G coverage." Now, a federal judge has just ruled against Ma Bell's request to have Verizon's "Map For That" ads pulled off the air. That doesn't mean that this whole thing is over, though: the judge called the ads "sneaky" and said that it was possible people might misunderstand them because "most people who are watching TV are semi-catatonic." Whether or not that's enough to support a legal conclusion that the ads are misleading is a fight for another day - specifically December 16th - when AT&T will have a second chance to argue its case.
