UFC

Headed to Milwawukee this weekend for the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary

I've been sitting around this apartment, bored to tears, waiting on the last of the gear I need for the desert adventure to come in the mail. I've really been looking forward to getting out there. I've been writing about it a little bit here. It seems some MMA websites have reported on the story, posting up that I might die out in the desert, or that it might be my greatest opponent yet, etc. Come on guys. It's really common down in southern California to go out to the off road recreation areas in the desert about an hour away from LA and San Diego. So my plan is to go out to the desert, do some camping, ride the motorcycle, and shoot some guns. Sounds like a lot of fun to me. A lot of people do it. This isn't a version of "Into the Wild". I'm not going out into the desert with a pair of shorts and a bowie knife, to try to live off the land. I'm going fully geared up, and I'm planning on having some fun.

I do plan on going back pretty far, so I did mention in one of my posts that I wanted to make sure to have good quality gear. Any failure of gear out in the desert could cause a problem.

So here I am waiting on this gear I ordered. Despite the surfing, and all the other things there are to do around here, I've been really anxious to go camping, and I've gotten really bored waiting.

I got a call this afternoon from the UFC public relations department. Turns out they need someone last minute to make an appearance out in Milwaukee at the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary. Perfect. Gives me something to do. I'm a biker anyway.

Heading off to the big party in Milwaukee this weekend, and when I get back, going to go play in the desert a little bit. Back into training after that.

PS I'm flying in to Milwaukee. I'm in Oceanside right now. There's no way I could ride the bike and be there by this weekend.

Well, first off, people saying you're doing the desert deal for the sheer fact of going out there and dying are just plain stupid...I've read the posts as well...Interesting that they spout off all of this stuff and do little to back up their claims...Who cares? I've made two desert treks in my life and returned a better person as a result...Can't really put it into words, but the whole experience was refreshing for the body and soul...Glad I did it! First time was for two weeks, the second time was for 45 days...Be prepared, but do it none-the-less!

Have fun with the 105th deal too...I'm not a huge fan with where HD has taken stuff as of late (although, I'm totally digging the new XR1200!), but to be a part of the 105th anniversary is very cool...Hope you have fun!

Looking forward to your take on the whole deal, along with pics!

    -Jordan.

The HD 105th must beat the pants off of Bike Week in Lanconia, NH. I'm jealous. Have a great time, and I (sure we ALL) will be looking forward to pics of great bikes.

Reading your posts about your desert trek plans make me itch to get off the East Coast and see a different kind of wilderness. Open country.

The backwoods of Maine are so dense, close. That masques the vastness of it all, and can land you in trouble if you are not aware.

What post was it? I think it was in your old blog. The one where you showed pics of running and hiking the red rocks outside Vegas. The strip was visible from a portion of it. Then just heading out and finding trails and scaling rocks in your Cruiser. I loved that. So ignore the idiots. Keep living your life the best way you can. And feel free to tease us with your amazing pictures.

If I were brave like Jordan, I'd post a link to MY blog so you could see "Suck, Bang, Blow", the biker burnout bar in Myrtle Beach, SC, and the '85 Iron Head parked out front. The owner was a great guy, and mentioned trying to get up to the 105th. So if you see a guy (among the thousands who will be there) with "White Trash" tattooed on his back riding a '85 Iron Head, tell him the curly-headed blonde chick who took his pic in Myrtle STILL likes his bike and his ink.

Have a great time. Ride Safe.
