UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin changed the game of Mixed Martial Arts when he appeared on season one of The Ultimate Fighter. Now the new champion is taking that success to the newsstands by appearing on the October cover of Men's Fitness, which is on sale now. Even though the low-key Griffin typically does not like doing "media stuff," the champ opens up with some choice info about recent fights and his previous career as a police officer. Take a sneak peak after the jump!
On the Stephan Bonnar fight:
It got to a point where I couldn't get away from it. It was like The Twilight Zone, I'd go into a bar and, boom, there it was. I'd walk into a friend's house, or a neighbor's, and they'd be watching it. It was everywhere.
Griffin on the Quinton "Rampage" Jackson fight:
I have a real good vocabulary and I've read a lot of books, but I can't describe that. It's beyond any words that I have. I don't think anyone can give you an actual description. It's been four years for me. It was always in the back of my head as a thing I wanted, but for me, anyway, it was never anything I'd vocalized.
Griffin on his previous career as a police officer:
Got to carry a weapon. Got to drive real fast. Got lots of free coffee. And some chicks dig a guy in a uniform. Not a bad gig.
The October issue of Men's Fitness is on newstands now until mid-October.
