UFC fighter Evan Tanner was writing an exclusive blog for Spike.com leading up to his disappearance and subsequent death the weekend of September 5. Unbeknownst to the site, Tanner had written two blog entries that he never published just before leaving for his trip. They were later discovered in the site’s publishing tools, and after consulting with Tanner’s family, it was decided that the blogs should be published for his fans.
Tanner went on a solo desert camping trip the weekend of September 5 in the Clapp Springs area of the Palo Verde Mountains in California. Friends became concerned when they hadn’t heard from Tanner, and called authorities, who then found his body a couple miles from his camp site. According to authorities, Evan died of heat exhaustion. The entire Spike family sends their condolences to the friends and family of Evan Tanner for their incredible loss.
